Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
After making this card, I wanted to do at least one more before I put the
set on the shelf. This time I wanted to use at least one of the wood slices
included with the set.
Here's what I came up with....
Everything but the bees was cut from Neenah Solar White. I used Distress ink and
blending brushes to color the wood slice and started to color the flowers with
sponge daubers and ink. I wasn't crazy about the flowers so I went over them with
Copic markers.
The little bees are very fussy. The dies cut the body, stripes and wings separately. They
don't take much paper but they do take a steady hand to get them together. I think you'll
be seeing them often in the future if I can keep my hands steady.
Thanks to Donna for choosing my previous card as a favorite at Freshly Made Sketches.
She inspired me with this card that she'd made. It was what I needed to get this
set out of my NBUS box and give it a whirl, not once but twice.

Your sweet and thoughtful comments warm my heart!

Your flowers sure look pretty now! And you slice of wood - perfection. If I can keep my hand steady - you can too! I love using little pieces you have to put together - takes concentration. Love your bees, they remind us just how important they are. I really like 3 dimensional designs. I have to say, your bees make this card special.
ReplyDeleteSandy xx-
This is beautiful, Bonnie. I believe that design was made for your pretty details, and the flowers are gorgeous - maybe it's the ink/copics together but it works!
ReplyDeleteWOW...what a beautiful card Bonnie! I love the flowers on the wood slice and the deep burgundy color is perfection!! And those sweet little bees...just by looking at them I can how fiddly they would bee, but oh they are soooo cute!! Loving the embossed background too. Sweet, sweet card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteThe wood slice looks great as the background for your flowers and bees!

Bonnie, your wood slice is just a little slice of Heaven to build upon! At first glance, I thought maybe you cut those blossoms from your red velvet! SO beautifully colored - and BEE-u-tiful!

I love the deep rich colors of the primroses, Bonnie, and what a great way to show them off. That wood slice is terrific. I just put this set on my wish list.
ReplyDeleteI do think these are the prettiest little flowers and I can imagine coming across them in a woodland. Love them with the wood slice and the little bees. Your embossing is the ideal background, too!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous red blooms on that wood slice. Those little bees are so cute just buzzing around the blooms. This set is also in my NBUS box and I need to get it out to play with. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThat wood slice makes the perfect frame and background for your pretty flowers and bees and you are always very clever with your embossed backgrounds xx
ReplyDeleteStunning design! The slice of wood makes a beautiful background for those gorgeous red flowers! They really pop along with those cute little bees. Thanks for sharing with A Cut Above's February Challenge.
ReplyDeleteFantastic card, Bonnie. You used the inspiration beautifully, but your card reflects your vision of this sketch. Adding the bees to the design makes it so joyful and gives it a sense of movement. Your bees show that you have a very steady and steady hand. You've folded these tiny insects perfectly.
