Peony Bud

Hi there.

I hope you are having a good day.

Just Us Girls is having a photo week.
I chose to use some pink, green and gold.

and

There is a pin dot border on the tag, a gold border around the flower and a border
on the edge of the sentiment piece.

To make this card:

I crumpled up a piece of plain white tissue paper, partially flattened it out and
glued it on some white cardstock.

After it dried, I die cut it with my favorite tag die.

One sweet flower was die cut from gold foil and then
I cut one from some smooshed pink ink
and another from a snippet of Brusho colored cardstock.

I inlaid the pieces, stamped and heat embossed a sentiment on
another piece of the pink and popped them on the
tissue paper tag.

A few rhinestones add a little bling.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Enamored for Penny Black and More

Hello.

Here's a very simple and easy card.

I pulled out a piece that had been embossed with a PTI Impression Plate
and stamped these sweet flowers from Penny Black.

I stamped a couple of times without re-inking (generational stamping) to
give the impression of depth.

This little watercolor butterfly was in my butterfly box.

The frame was tucked away too.

Three pieces from the UFO box taken care of!

Salty Joy to the World

Hello my friends.

I have another salty card to share.

My friend and teammate Christine (It's a card days night) is the Featured Stamper at Splitcoaststampers this week.

Woot, woot!  Congratulations, my friend!

Here's a link to her fantastic gallery at SCS.

I'm CASEing (Copy And Share Everything) this card.

To make this background, I wet a piece of Arches watercolor paper and dropped in color
from my Gansai Tambi watercolors.

While it was still wet, I dropped some Sea Salt on it.

This is what it looked like after it had dried and I scraped the salt off.

I thought it looked very wintry.

I had this wonderful die cut that my friend Susan sent me (thanks again Susan).

All I had to do was cut off a piece of the salted background and pop the die cut on top.

I'm going to take this over to
Rudolph Days
where it's anything goes Christmas.
Scrappy Mo sponsors this challenge every month from the 25th until the end of the month.
A great way to inspire us to increase that stash of Christmas cards.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Pop of Color for Just Us Girls

Hi there.

I hope you are having a colorful week!

Edited to add:  I'm excited to say that this card won me
Chic of the Week at Just Us Girls!
Thanks, ladies!

When I saw this week's challenge at Just Us Girls, I immediately
thought of a stamp set that I bought at the SSAT show in July!
It had been languishing in my NBUS box since then.

This was a new to me stamp company called Right at Home
and I did a shameless CASE of their card.

First I stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and clear embossed to help me stay in the lines.

I used Distress Markers to color in the letters, then drew a thin line from
the base of the letters and wet it with my Aqua Painter.
To make the drizzles a little brighter, I dipped my brush into drops of re-inker
and pulled it along the sketched lines.

This set has several other color in sentiments.

I wonder how long it will take me to use them?

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Stamps:  Color in Sentiments (RAH)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black, Distress Markers (barn door, mustard seed, blueprint sketch), Re-inkers (Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Brilliant Blue) (SU)
Paper:   Neena, Brilliant Blue, Daffodil Delight, Real Red (SU)
Other:  Clear EP (SU), Aqua Painter (SU), Stitched Mat Rectangles (LI)

Salt in Pink

Here's the piece after watercolor and Sea Salt were added and it was left to dry.

I used the left side for this card.

You can read how I did the right side of this piece here.

Jack was helping me do "science experiments" with the salt.

He didn't like his pieces but he agreed to let me keep them and use them.

His mom's birthday was coming up and she asked for a card using some of Jack's work.

You can't see the shimmer on the flower, but Jack was fascinated with the
silver and white paints and I die cut the flower from a piece of that.
I fit the cut out pieces back in for an inlaid flower.

Challenge is open until the 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Moonlight Butterfly for CAS Mix Up

Hello my friends.

We've had so much fun at the CAS Mix Up challenge this month.

There are so many gorgeous ways to use alcohol ink
and our gallery is full of beautiful entries!

I die cut a piece of alcohol ink background using a Memory Box butterfly die.

It didn't cut the little pieces out of the photo paper, but left a wonderful embossed look.

I used a piece of the same background to add a narrow mat around the frame.

The stem and flowers were cut from snippets of leftover alcohol ink backgrounds.

There's still time to join in at CAS Mix Up
Using stamping, alcohol ink and die cuts.

The challenge ends on the 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Sunflower Hello

Hello.

I hope you're having a happy day!

I've used just a pinch of salt today.

This happy sunflower was die cut from a salted piece.

It's hard to see the patterns from the salt because of the intricate cut.

The stem and leaves were cut from a snippet leftover from this card.

After I added the brown watercolor to the flower, I used a bit
on the leaves to give them some added depth.

And because, in my yard, all the leaves have brown on them.

I should have shaded the grass border brown as there's lots
of brown in our grass too.  I did sponge some green on it.

It looks like it needs mowing doesn't it?

The Poppystamps challenge this month is
I have a border of grass and a scored border.

and the  CAS Watercolour Salt Challenge is still going.

and my snippet of grass and stem will give me a visit to
Pixies Snippet Playground
Thanks for the shout out, Di.

Everything Flowers Two Ways

Hi.

Are you getting tired of salted and alcohol ink cards?

Here's something different.
I've stamped and heat embossed the Everything Flowers Background stamp
from Hero Arts, then colored the flowers with Gelatos.

I pressed the tip of the Gelatos metallic colors onto the flowers and spread the
color with my finger.

The color is very much like chapstick and spreads smoothly.

Kind of like making pretty mud pies!

I added some non metallic Gelato to the centers of the flowers.

I added some shading by putting the Gelato on my palette and picking up some color
with an Aqua Painter.

For the background, I used a Pitt Artist Big Brush pen in May Green to scribble on my palette,
picked up the color with an Aqua painter and did a wet on wet wash around the colored flowers.

(BTW, it's so easy to make a palette for markers and ink by
laminating a half sheet of white cardstock.)

I'm entering this in The Flower Challenge #11

also

ADD A SENTIMENT

also

I have shiny embossing and the metallic Gelatos also shine.

Here's a closer look of that shine.

I stamped 2 small pieces at the same time since this is such a large stamp.

I watercolored this one with Zigs.

Quite a different look!

Both sentiments are from the Thoughtful Messages set at SSS.

This set was a birthday present from my dear friend Loll.
I can see that this set will get a lot of love.
Thanks again, dear friend!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Salty Marigold or is it a Dahlia

Hello dear friends.

Here's another sample of salt play and a reminder that there's still time to enter at
CAS Watercolour.

I covered a piece of watercolor paper with a wash of yellows using my
Gansai Tambi watercolors.

While it was still quite wet, I sprinkled some Himalayan Fine Pink salt in a couple of areas.

I just used a pinch and tried to keep it in a small section.

To my surprise, it looked like a couple of flowers when it dried!

I probably couldn't do this again but that's what's fun about using salt on watercolor.

You never know how it's going to look!

I used a water soluble marker to outline the lighter "petals".

The background piece used as a mat was done using the same colors of paint and table salt.

I've covered most of it up so you can't really see much of the pattern left from the salt.

Sorry I didn't get a photo of the piece before I cut it up.

I'll try to do better next time.

this month is

The challenge is open until the 24th.

Alcohol Swirls for CAS Mix Up

Hi there.

It's the middle of the month and time for a reminder for
CAS Mix Up

While playing with the alcohol inks, I tried just twisting the felt applicator.

I love the swirls so I filled the piece of glossy paper with them.

I should have written down the colors.

Sometimes I get so excited that I don't write things down and just can't remember what I used.

Do you do that?

I found this butterfly in my butterfly box.  I loved that you could still see the swirls
when I plopped him on.

I used vellum for the sentiment so it wouldn't cover up all the movement.
After stamping, I heat embossed it so it would show up really nice
and not smear.

There's still time to join in the challenge at
Using stamping, alcohol ink, die cuts, vellum and heat embossing.

also adding to  Concord & 9th
Happy Birthday C&9
