Christmas Candy Cane for CAS Christmas

Hi there.

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Christmas.

This month, my good friend Nance is hosting.

I used a new to me stamp and die set from Spellbinders,
stamping one of the candy canes with Archival ink.

When the ink was dry, I used SU markers to color the stripes with red
and adding more striped in green.  I outlined the green stripes with
a fine line marker.

To make it shiny like a real candy cane, I smooshed the dried candy cane into
an embossing pad and used clear powder to heat emboss it.

The bits of foliage were already punched out. Lucky me!

The Nuvo drops gave me a hard time.  When you want them this close
together, you need to let each dry before adding another.  Otherwise you end
up with a big glop that needs to be removed very carefully!

Here's a close up so you can see the shine and the not so great berries.

Our fabulous Design Team as well as our talented Guest Designer, Birgit
have some awesome inspiration to show you at the challenge.

Hope to see you over at
The challenge is open until the 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

  1. I LOVE traditional red and green Christmas cards the best and this one is AWESOME! LOVE the sweet (pardon the pun) candy cane ... so adorable with the added shine and foliage. I love the way you've stamped your sentiment in the two colours as well. Fantastic design, my sweet friend! xx

  10. I have tried nuvo drops or even the stickles and they are all the same, let one dry before adding another...yours look like each red berry individually, so great job! With your description I have a feeling you maybe learned the hard way! tee hee. Candy Canes certainly scream "Christmas"! Awesome card for this sweet challenge! Have a fabulous week, Bonnie. 13. Fabulous candy cane Bonnie - and thanks for the tip about letting any liquid pearls dry individually before adding more.... I have had a few sticky messes to remove over the years.

  16. What a shiny and pretty candy cane, Bonnie! I'm not a big fan of hard candy, but I love this candy cane! Added foliage makes the candy look more merry, and I love the fabulous design (placement of the candy and the sentiment, and the 2-tone colors of the sentiment).
