Turning the Page February 2021

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our February page.

By the way, the calendars are clipped together and can be displayed on an easel
or hung on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.
and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

A Kitty with Heart

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Another valentine with this cut kitty.
Don't you love that smile?

I've stamped the kitty in Memento ink and colored her with watercolor pencils.
She got a little gem in her heart and a little twine to ground her.

The background was done with my favorite heart embossing folder.
Thanks for the enabling, Michele.

I'm going to take her over to the Let's Squash it Challenge

Since this is the first outing for this fun kitty, I'll take it over to

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Christmas Inchies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm skidding in at the last minute for the Jingle Belles Challenge.

Steph and Lauren are asking for inchies or twinchies on a Christmas card.

I found one last strip of Alexandra Renke Washi tape mounted on a piece of cardstock in
my Christmas UFO box.  I punched 1 inch circles from some of the designs,
punched 1 1/4 inch circles from red cardstock, 1 3/8 inch circles from Champagne Foil
and layered them up.

I added a sparkly snowflake behind the middle inchie and put it all on a piece of
cardstock embossed with holiday words.

As a twofer....

I was able to punch 3 more inchies from the rest of the tape and
made them into a birthday card for one of the guys.

I'd better stop and get the Christmas card in before the challenge closes.

I'll stop in at Rudolph Days too.

Challenges:
Jingle Belles - Inchies
Rudolph Days - ATG Christmas

Embossed Hearts

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been working on valentines and anniversary cards.

I fell in love with the Memory Box Heart Bouquet Embossing Folder.

First up is a valentine.

Then a card for a 60th anniversary using some satiny cardstock.

And another anniversary card.

I embossed some Neenah cardstock with the folder and used dies to cut the center hearts.

The embossing folder does most of the work.

Zoom Fun TImes Two

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I recently Zoomed with some friends.  It was so much fun!

I had tried this technique before and was happy to try it again.
You can watch Eileen Godwin's tutorial HERE

First we lightly sponged a little ways from the edge of a piece of heavy acetate
with our lightest color. Then we changed the angle of the acetate and sponged a
second color. We repeated this step until we were happy with our coverage.

I lay a stencil over the top and lightly added ink through the stencil.

I love the soft colors and pattern!

I added some NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) die cuts over top.
with dimensionals behind the flowers  and a fussy cut sentiment banner.

Challenges:
AAA Birthday #21 - Stencil Background
NBUS - Never Before Used Schtuff
Penny Black Saturday Challenge - ATG/Optional Something New

We did another of Eileen's techniques.  I didn't have as much luck with this one.

You can watch the video for this technique HERE.

We spread a thin layer of gesso through a stencil and let it dry.  It was
such a thin coat that it dried quickly.

Then we lightly sponged color over the gesso.  The gesso is supposed to act
as a resist, but mine seemed to absorb the ink more than the paper did.
If you look closely you can see the lighter leaves, but the gesso is between the leaves.
I'm not sure if the problem is the gesso or me but I was able to get a usable card
from it.  The stamping and splatters help.

If you get a chance watch some of Eileen's videos.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Flowers for Twofer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Have you had your COVID vaccine yet?  Things are still pretty tangled up here
with so many people wanting it.  Hopefully we'll get ours soon.  Meanwhile it's
still staying in and masking up.

Is it sad that coordinating my mask with my outfit is the highlight of my day?

I have some more flowers for Twofer.

I couldn't stop with just one set!

First up is super QACAS (Quick And Clean And Simple)

I die cut this fun flower from a piece of Neenah cardstock and saved that
little outline bit.  I used the subtle embossing folder on the cut out piece.  A piece of mop up tissue paper went behind the opening and the die cut was attached over top.

There's some prills in the center to add a little more pizzazz.

I'm going to take this to the Inspired By Challenge #157
The colors really jumped out at me!

For my Twofer....

I used a background from my play with my Gel Press.

I was really getting fancy with this one and honestly I don't remember quite
how I did it.  There wasn't anybody else in the room, so I must have done it.

I'm pretty sure I had a lot of fun doing this!  It's definitely one of a kind!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Splatters and Splats

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have two cards to share today.

First up....

I love the sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches.  It's one of my
favorite go to layouts.

I think it fits at AAA Cards challenge this month too.

The butterfly is from last January's My Monthly Hero sets and so is the
Aqua Glimmer Metallic Ink that I colored it with.

I added some splatters with white gouache paint for added interest and
a little strip of embossing for him to perch on.

The simple sentiment can be finished on the inside.

Next up....

When I watched Loll's video on splattering, I loved watching her splat technique
(about 2:15 into the video).  Now was a good opportunity to try it and I've got to say
that it's as much fun as I thought it would be!

I splatted a bit on my paint palette and picked up the color for splatters too.

Thank you Hilary for a fun challenge!

Pearly Magic Blossom

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The design is a CASE of a card my dear friend Joanna sent me.

This magic flower was done by smooshing some Versamark onto the
die cut then brushing Perfect Pearls over the top.

You can see the shine better here.

The background is from a print making trial.  I ended up adding
some more blobs of watercolor until I was happy with it.

and a twofer for a Golden Anniversary

The bottom flower has been embossed with a glittery gold.  The top flower is cut
from Gold Foil.

Here's a better look at the shine.

I hope this got to it's destination in time...
Happy 50th Anniversary D & K!

Beary Party

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A sweet friend sent me a stamping(s) of this sweet bear and I had him all
colored up and waiting for a home.

When I saw the Inspired By Challenge last week, I knew it was the
perfect time to pull him out. So let's Cele-bear-ate!

I was inspired by the bear, his hat and the stripes.

I chose a birthday hat because I knew it would work well for a birthday card.
My stripes are in some patterned paper.

The bear was colored with Copics and the hat with markers
I thought the hat needed a little more somethin' and I uses a scalloped
diamond die to cut some "ruffles".

It was fun working with this guy and he made me smile all afternoon.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!
