Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
There's still time to join in at CAS Mix Up.
Our challenge this month is
This time I smooshed some embossing paste through this sweet dragonfly stencil.
For some odd reason, I was thinking the paste needed to dry before I put the embossing powder
on it. By the time I realized the mistake, it was dry. So I broke out my Wow Embossing Pen
and covered the raised design with that, sprinkled on the powder and heat set.
I did two dragonflies at a time to ensure they would be wet enough.
I love the sparkle in this powder!
After it had cooled off, I lightly brushed some Speckled Egg Distress Ink
around the dragonflies.
I've scored lines around the design. You can see the lines better here
My mixed media are Stencil Heat Embossing, Stamping, Ink Blending, and scoring.
Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.
Card Recipe
Stamps: Special Sentiments (PB)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Speckled Egg (DI)
Paper: Neenah, Pool Party
Other: Dragonfly Stencil (Magenta), Embossing Paste (Wendy Vecchi), Long Island Teal EP (Wow), Embossing Pen (Wow), Simply Scored (SU)
It is infuriating when you do something silly like that, but very well rescued and I love the finished result. That little bit of ink blending makes all the difference xx
ReplyDeleteJust lovely Bonnie - I think the pen gives a lighter more subtle coverage which is perfect for these delicate dragonflies! x
ReplyDeleteDang, this is pretty, Bonnie! Lots of texture with the embossing over paste. That embossing pen came in handy. I do have a Versamark pen, but wouldn't be surprised if it was dry by now. Have rarely used it, for shame. I'm having stencil envy looking at this. It's awesome!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful....they just sparkle.

Most of all I like the sparkle the embossing powder added to the wings - next of all I really like the color. It is amazing what one can do with the right tools but you have to have the right tools!

Love this effect and I think it worked out better that the paste was dry otherwise it may have bubbled up. Love the soft haze around the images as well as the scored framing. I never think to do that.
ReplyDeletea great save Bonnie, love the colour of the embossing powder you used and the touch of speckled egg blended around them is perfect :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your heat embossed stenciled dragonflies, Bonnie. TFS the close up with all the shine and your softly blended Speckled Egg background. Beautiful sentiment and CAS design, my friend. Love and Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteOh how gorgeous Bonnie - love the dragonflies and the fabulous glittery ep you used
ReplyDeleteStay safe

ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card Bonnie! I love the sparkle on those dragonflies, makes me long for summer. A beautiful CAS card indeed! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThe Speckled Egg DI and the Long Island Teal EP work well together. I have both because this is one of my most favorite colors...so think I will try this look with a butterfly stencil. Thanks for your always wonderful inspiration!
ReplyDeleteMore 'hitchhikers!?' You've made my morning - and yes, that sparkle is fabulous!
ReplyDelete=]
A great way to "fix" the dragonflies and a good hint too. This is such a pretty card. I hope to work on mine this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteLovely card with those embossed dragonflies. The embossing paste adds to the texture and the blended ink around them really makes them pop. TFS
ReplyDeleteLove that embossing powder you used - perfect for dragonflies! And the bit of shading with Speckled Egg sets them off perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThis works beautifully with the row of pretty dragonflies Bonnie, and given lots of dimension with the paste and then the super glittery embossing powder, and a great sentiment too with a bit of background colour to complement the colour of the dragonflies. x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful CAS design with lots of mixed media elements Bonnie! Those dragonflies are gorgeous ... love the shimmer of the sparkle embossing powder. The scoring adds another wonderful detail! xx
ReplyDeleteFun dragonflies, pretty card, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful, Bonnie! Love the design & elements!
ReplyDeleteLove the patina effect you achieved on the dragonflies Bonnie, lovely design.
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie this is a real wow! I thought I could get away with not getting embossing paste but you have shown me that I am wrong! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful in all its shimmery goodness. Lovely design too.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this dragonfly card, Bonnie! The sparkly teal dragonflies with the Speckled Egg sponged background are so sweet! Great recovery from the dried paste! ;-)

Great save Bonnie, this looks really pretty. The sparkly dragonflies are so cute and I love the soft colour shading around them xx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning!! Love this and the touches of the speckled egg gives so much definition to those pretty dragonflies!
ReplyDeleteI love the speckled embossing powder Dragonflies are my favourite!
ReplyDeleteLuckily, we can easily correct some minor mistakes while creating our cards :-) These dragonflies look so beautiful with their shimmering and sparkling EP with glitter. Adding a sponge around them made them look like they were flying in a blue mist. Beautiful Bonnie card!
