Turning the Page July 2021

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our July page.

By the way, the calendars are clipped together and can be displayed on an easel
or hung on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.
and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

The Stockings Were Hung

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A sweet friend sent me this fantastic stocking die.  It has six stockings.

I spent so much time paper piecing those stockings that I decided
they would do well separated and get more cards for all that labor.

The first card uses some of the decorative paper in my stash.
It was from the same set as the paper for the stockings.

The second fit into the aperture of this kraft piece in the UFO drawer.
The holly was a leftover too.

I'm still trying to perfect using the Glimmer Foil System and especially getting this
frame straight.  Fortune smiled on me and I managed to trim this frame
pretty evenly.  It turned out to be my favorite.

Challenges:
Rudolph Days - Anything Christmas
52 Christmas Card Throwdown - CARD 2 Tic Tac Toe (Liquid dots on holly, patterned paper & die cuts for stockings)

Gnome for Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I used a previously embossed background and stamped the Fragile Branches
with DOX ink.  I used a wet waterbrush to move the ink to blur the images some.

The gnome background was cut from Neenah and the pieces from Neenah and
decorative paper.  I swiped his beard a few times with a gray Copic and used
a pink Copic to color his nose.

I've so far refrained from adding some red berries with Nuvo drops.

Challenges:
52 Christmas Card Throwdown - Gnomes
Jingle Belles - Neutral Noel

Snowy in Blue

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My dear friend Hideko is hosting the CAS Christmas Challenge

My favorite snowman stamp got dusted off.  Yay!

I stamped him on Tim Holtz Watercolor paper since it's the whitest
watercolor paper that I have.  The coloring was done with
Distress Markers swiped on a palette and picked up with a waterbrush.

Snowy has shimmer on the pom pom and brim of his hat!

There's still a couple days left for this challenge if you want to
take a snowman over and join in! There are lots of cute snowmen in the
gallery to lend inspiration!

Beautiful Nags Head

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

No card today.

We recently met my brother and sister-in-law at Nags Head for a couple of days
enjoying the beach.

It was so nice to spend time together again!

It was really nice to see something besides our walls!

My brother got this shot of the sunrise from the other side of the pier.
(I was still asleep 😴)

We got to spend some time together at our house when we left the beach.

It was a wonderful week!

I hope I can find my mojo now.

Bluebirds Love

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Another card showing flight with watercoloring.

I've punched the birds with an old and well loved punch and added color to them
with ink swiped on a palette and picked up with a waterbrush.

To make the birds seem to be flying, I punched extra wings and placed them in a
fluttering angle.

A bit of watercolor made a soft sky and a frame made with
two stitched rectangle dies finishes it off.

Ducks in Flight

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

There's still time to join in at the CAS Mix Up June Challenge.

The lovely Viv is hosting the challenge this month and she's chosen...

This is a watercoloring challenge this month.

It's taken me several tries to get these ducks to look right, but
perseverance finally paid off.

I've stamped with Archival ink, done a watercolor wash for the sky, then
colored the ducks with markers, blending with my waterbrush.

I remembered this cattail die that a friend had given me and
cut it from the same piece of Mixed Media Pad cover and the background.
You can't tell in the photo, but it has lovely texture.

The challenge ends on the 24th.  I hope you'll join us at

Lavinia Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I am so excited to be Guest Designing for 52 Christmas Card Thowdown!

The challenge this time is

I'll admit that this color challenge stumped me at first.
But in the end, I'm happy with it and used two

After temporarily putting a circle mask for the moon,
I used a straight edge and gently sponged gray ink on a piece of
Neenah cardstock.

Then I used a snowflake stencil and applied some more gray ink
over that.

I removed the circle mask and used the circle stencil for a guide
and added yellow ink for the moon.

After stamping the main images, I used the circle mask and outlined
the moon with a Quickie Glue pen and added a bit of gold glitter.
I'm not sure I like the glitter, but it's not going anywhere.

You can see the shine better in this view.

Finally I added some Chunky White Frantage and heated from beneath the
card for the feel of snow falling.

I hope you'll join us at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.

Hello Sunshine for Twofer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for another Twofer Challenge.

Guess what the challenge is this month?

I used a NBUS Gerda Steiner stamp for my sunshine.

Onefer is celebrating the end of school.
Today is the last day around here.

The sun and Jackie Bear are watercolored. His balloon is die cut from an
alcohol inked piece.

I used a stitched snowdrift die to cut the curve.  I had to use it twice and it
left a bit of bobble.  Fortunately it was in a perfect place for a wobbly balloon!

For my Twofer....an encouragement card...

I stamped and heat embossed the sun to make the center for a true
sunflower.  I used a watercolor pencil to draw the petals and stem, then added
color with Distress inks.  I used a Versamarker to add dots to the center
and heat embossed them before adding more watercolor.

The little ladybug was made with the punches on my Crop-a-dile.

The first time I did a sunflower I added splatters.
Well they were actually splotches.

Bad splotches!

Lest you think I'm being too hard on myself, I'll share.

I chickened out on splatters the second time around and used part of a stamp
for my splatters.

Our fabulous and fun Design Team is joined by Veana & Daphne as
our Guest Designers and they have some wonderful inspiration for you.

I hope you share some of your sunshine with us this month at

Glimmer Snowflake

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I met with some crafty friends last week and we played with
our Spellbinder's Glimmer Hot Foil Systems.

This was made with my friend Barb's glimmer snowflake plate using gold foil.

The 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge this week is a sketch.

I wanted to join in since I won the Santa Challenge last month.

Here's the sketch...

I used a bow for the smaller square.  Hope that's okay.

You can see the shine better here.  (I have trouble photographing foil.)
