Turning the Page July 2020

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our July page.

By the way, the calendars are clipped together and can be displayed on an easel
or hung on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.
and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Cardinal Christmas Tree

Hi there.  I'm glad you stopped by.

I have another Christmas card for my stash.

I've used another of the Power Poppy Digital stamps and watercolored with
Twimarkers and my waterbrush.

The background is a wet on wet wash using reinker with
lots of water.

A little Chunky Frantage heated from underneath added a bit of snow.

This scene reminds me of the shelf outside my grandma's window where
she fed the birds.  I still love watching the birds.

Happy Birthday Loll

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by.

Today I'm celebrating the birthday of my cherished friend, Loll.

Happy Birthday, my friend.

I've inked this Technique Tuesday stamp with Distress Markers and ink pads
and used a damp waterbrush to blend the colors.  Where I needed more color,
I smooshed ink on my palette and picked up the ink with my waterbrush.

I hope you have a wonderful day, dear friend.

More Flowers in Bloom

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I think I'm on time for the MFT Sketch Challenge this time.  Usually when I'm
ready to post, the challenge is over.  The weeks go by too fast!

This is one of my favorite stamps to color.  I use Distress markers to ink
the stamp and added color from Distress ink smooshed on my palette.

To color the strips, I first wet them, and added some of the lightest pink
ink from my palette then dipped it in the other colors that were pretty wet.
I added some black dots in the center of the flowers to tie in the black sentiment.
Wish I hadn't done that.  The splatters worked out okay though.

Memory Box Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This is a CASE of a card by Joy Taylor

I stamped both sizes of the flowers from the Watching the World Bloom
stamp set from Memory Box with white craft ink and heat embossed.

Then I cut a circle from the embossed piece and a sheet of foam

The solid butterfly and a circle insert were cut from vellum
and the butterfly outline was cut from Neenah.

Floral Stem on Vellum

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've pulled out my favorite Poppystamps die and added it to a

The die cuts two flower heads and I've popped one on top with a dimensional
and added some yellow prills to the center.

Quick and easy.  My favorite kind!

Blissful Navy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you and yours are well.

This NBUS stamp has finally seen ink.

Do you buy stamping stuff and then take forever to use it too?

I used Distress markers to ink this stamp after securing in my MISTI.
Then I smooshed some ink on my palette and picked up color with a damp
waterbrush to fill in the flowers and leaves.

I decided to wait on the sentiment because I'm not sure what I'll use it for.

Bubbles and Baubles

Hi there.  I'm glad you stopped by!

I have a Twofer today.

This month's Twofer Challenge is

First my bubbles.....

I believe I first saw these Bubble Chicks at the Twofer Challenge.

When Stamping Bella had that good sale a while back, I treated myself to
both the stamps and the dies.  This was the perfect opportunity to get them out
of that NBUS box!

I stamped them with Memento ink and colored with Copic Markers.

A bubbly stencil with a bit of ink brushed through added interest to the
background and the die cut chicks fit perfectly in these die cut squares.

I can send this as a birthday card or to cheer someone up.

Next up is a Christmas card.  I used a marker to ink just the bubble part
of one of the floating chicks and cut the bubble off from the chick holding one.
There are extra smaller bubble stamps and dies in the set that I used for
the third bauble.  Again, I colored with Copics.

This time I colored the bird to be a Tufted Titmouse.

I've covered the baubles with Crystal Glaze and it blended the red into
the white streaks. I have since added some streaks with gouache paint,
but lazy me didn't take another photo.

Twofer #28 - Circles/Bubbles
NBUS #15 - Never Before Used Schtuff

More Embossed Vellum for CAS Mix Up

Hi there.  I'm glad you stopped by!

There's still time to join in with Susan's Challenge at

This time I stamped a NBUS fun bird stamp and colored with Copic Markers.
I stamped again on vellum and heat embossed.
The vellum softens the look of the birds and I love the dreamy look!

Super easy and a good way to soften some over-bright coloring. ;-)

The challenge is open until June 24th.

Gnome for Christmas

Hi there.  I'm glad you stopped by!

This gnome die was in the NBUS box and needed to see some action.

I die cut him from watercolor paper and use Distress Markers to color him.
By using the markers directly on the die cut, I got a deep, saturated color that
I just touched with a damp waterbrush.

The beard and nose were done by swiping color on my palette and picking up
with a waterbrush.

The card base was cut twice with a tag die.  After scoring one piece just below the
top curve and dry embossing the other, I adhered the top domes together.
The scoring helps to make it stand like a card.

Oh Ribbon Tree

Hi there.  I'm glad you stopped by!

I have another Christmas card today.
We're almost halfway through the year and Christmas
will be here all too soon!

To make this card, I added some Sookwang tape vertically over a
scrap of Neenah cardstock.  Then I pressed the ribbon horizontally.
When the whole piece was covered, I die cut it with a pennant die.

The ribbon has wonderful texture!

For the snowflake on top, I used a piece of canvas that is for crafts.
I'm sorry, but there are just some pieces in my bag of cork, fabric and wood
so I don't know where it came from.  I also cut the snowflake from a
snippet of crumb cake cardstock and glued them to each other a little
offside.  This time I did it intentionally! LOL

I used a larger die to emboss the card front and decorated the tree
with some red glitter glue.

Bells for CAS Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Today I have two cards for CAS Christmas.

My sweet friend Linda  (Lin's Crafty Corner) is hosting this month and she chose...

I chose to use these bells from an old Stampin' Up set and the words from
I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day. They've been heat embossed
in gold on textured paper.

For the first card, I die cut the bells with a Stitched Arch die
and cut a larger arch from Gold Foil.

For the second card, I did the same thing but placed both the bells
and sentiment on the same piece and die cut them with the
Elegant Rectangle STAX also with a gold foil mat.

I die cut the background with the largest of the Elegant Rectangle dies,
scored the back piece and glued the two pieces together.
The scoring helps the card to stand up.

It was hard to capture the shine of the embossing and gold foil
but they are very shiny IRL.

The Design Team and Guest Designer, my friend LeAnne,
have some wonderful cards to amaze and inspire you.
