Mixed Bunch Sunflower

There's a new CAS challenge out there.  It's called CASology and here's how it will work.

1. Every Tuesday, a cue card will be posted containing a single word.

2. Take that word and run with it! Interpret it however you'd like! Just be sure and keep things clean and simple
3. Deadline is Sunday at noon (CST) to link up your project here on the challenge blog. Be sure to provide a link to the CASology blog within your blog post!
4. Feel free to combine this challenge with other challenges.

A Winner and 4 Honorable Mentions will be announced Monday!

This is the cue card for week 1

My mind went right to sunflowers.  But I don't have any sunflower stamps.  How could that be?  The Mixed Bunch set came to mind and I thought I'd try making a sunflower with that.

I stamped one of the big flowers twice with Daffodil Delight ink.  Then I outlined the petals with a More Mustard marker, over colored all the petals with Daffodil Delight and used a  blender pen to pull the colors together.   I punched the flowers out and laid one on top of the other.  I was a little disappointed that the Blossom punch doesn't punch a little closer to the stamped image but I didn't try to trim it any more.  IRL it looks fine, but the photo shows too much white around the flower.  If I do this again, I'll probably get out the scissors.

I used one of the smaller images in the set and stamped on Chocolate Chip cardstock with Chocolate Chip ink.  After punching it out, I laid it on top of the flower. The leaves are punched using the Blossom Petals Builder Punch.  By laying it on the Stampin' Pierce Matt and using a stylus, I put veins in those leaves and sponged with some ink.  The stem is a scrap.  I scored that too.

These beautiful colors are from the ColorQ challenge

Are they perfect for a sunflower or what?

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Mixed Bunch, Elementary Elegance (retired)
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz
Paper:  Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz
Other:  Sponge Dauber, Blossom, 1" Circle, and Blossom Petal Builder Punches, Stylus, Stampin' Pierce Mat

Sunflowers always make me happy when I see them.  There are sunflowers growing along the side of I95 in NC.  I always enjoy seeing their happy faces.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  It's always nice to see how many visitors have passed through. I especially love hearing what you think.  And as always....

Enjoy!

I love your big flower, Bonnie. Just so fun!

I smiled when you were saying you see the sunflowers on the interstate because I think we always start thinking of making a card when we see them.
