More Cardinals

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I found some colored cardinals in my UFO box and thought it was about time
to get them on some cards.

This is a stamp from Impression Obsession which sadly has gone out of business.

I stamped with black ink and colored with Copics and added a very light wash of
Tumbled Glass re-inker in background.

I added some chunky Frantage heated from below the paper for some
falling snow.

This time I cut the image with a tag die and embossed it with a textured
embossing folder.  A quick card that can be used for Christmas or beyond.

Season's Greetings

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Tis the season for snow.

I hope we see some here in central NC.

This may be the only way I see snow this season.

I've die cut a rectangle and embossed a piece of blue cardstock.

To get a snowy look, I lightly dragged a white inkpad over the embossed trees.

Some chunky white embossing powder sprinkled on and heated from the back
created some snow.

The birches were added to the inside of the frame and the frame has been
popped up a bit on foam so I could add a piece of acetate and some snowy sequins.

The foam doesn't have a lot of depth so the shakers are kind of stuck, but that's okay.
It won't require extra postage to mail.

Two Turtle Doves

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have a couple more Christmas cards to share today.  The company that the dove dies
came from sadly closed this week.

The background was made by smooshing Distress Ink and water on
mixed media paper.  The colors I used are below in the card recipe.

I've stamped and heat embossed some leaves and colored them in with
Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink.

The doves were cut from textured cardstock that has a slight sheen to it
and I used some die cut sentiments from my stash.

Shake Rattle and Roll

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have another Halloween card to share with you today.

We used these stamps in the last class and it was fun hearing the giggles.

The skeletons were stamped and heat embossed with clear powder.

Blending brushes and ink did the background and a white gel pen took care of their eyes.

The sentiment was centered on their cards but this one got off center for some
reason, so I added a musical note that was included in the set.

The bats were stamped but not embossed.  I got a smudge on the background
so I stamped two more bats to cover that up.

I didn't take a picture of the inside, but it says "Do the Halloween BOO-gie.
I love the sentiments in this set as much as the dancing skeletons!

Here's the card we did in class...
It has a spider web embossed in the background.

Challenges:
Color Hues #96 - Purple and Orange

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Skeleton Boogie (IO), Ghostly, Halloween Labels (HamptonArts)
Ink:   Nocturne (VC), Tangerine, Gorgeous Grape (SU)
Paper:   Linen, Neenah Solar White, Black
Other:  Clear EP, White Gel Pen

Enjoy!

Follow Your Heart

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I will apologize in advance.  This is from a retired stamp.

My friend Julia sent me a beautiful birthday card last year that had this quote on it.
What wonderful words to live by!

I've been hunting for the stamp since then and finally found it on Ebay.
I am excited to say that it is the real thing and didn't look like it had ever been used.

The magnolias were in my UFO box and almost made it into the trash.  But they worked
great as a background for the lovely quote.

The magnolias were stamped with Memento Toffee Crunch ink and colored with Zigs.
The quote was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed with clear powder.

This seems so appropriate right now as the magnolias (tulip trees) are in full bloom.
Something new and beautiful opens up each day in the spring.

Challenges:
Word Power #3 - Making the sentiment the focus of the card

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Follow Your Heart (ret IO), Magnolia Blossoms (MFT)
Ink:   Memento Toffee Crunch, Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Mixed Media, Neenah Solar White, Black
Other:  Zigs (28 Pale Pink, 81 Lt. Violet, 64 Oatmeal, 51 Lemon Yellow), Clear EP

Enjoy!

Halloween is just around the corner!

This little card has a little bit of everything.

I stamped the image and colored with Copics, Die cut a frame and a liner for the frame
along with a spider web and Boo.  The frame has been embossed with a very old
spider web embossing folder.

I think this cat is scared of that spider!

Praise

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

No card today.  Just a song of praise.

The background was done long ago with watercolor crayons and needed something
to complete it.

This silhouette stamp needed some love and I had the perfect sentiment to go with her.

Recipe
Stamps:  Praise Silhouette (ret IO), Songbird (Inky antics)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Watercolor (Arches cold press)
Other:  Watercolor Crayons (ret SU), Black Marker (for filling in silhouette that didn't stamp well on watercolor paper)

Enjoy!

Winter Barn Merry Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Hopefully I'm not going to miss the deadline for the Peace on Earth Challenge.

Time sure flies!

I stamped this retired stamp with Archival ink and used Distress Markers and my
waterbrush to color.  I started light and kept building up color until I had the depth
of color I wanted.

For the moon, I punched a 3/4" circle and colored around it. I added a light wash of
Scattered Straw to add some glow.

I used a very sharp watercolor pencil in black to add some definition to the tree and
windmill.  Some Chunky White Frantage added a little snow flurry.

Finally, I fashioned a tiny wreath with a snowflake stamp and tiny paper punch and
a stamped sentiment finished it off.

Challenges:
Peace on Earth #46 - Inspired by mood board

Three Little Birds

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I was designing for a class, I tried different color combinations
with this fun stamp.  I ended up using the colors from the second card and the
layout from the first.  So the no go's ended up here.

I love blue and yellow together and I'm not sure why this didn't make a go.
I think I didn't have enough of this color cardstock for a group.

I had a lot of this cardstock and I'm trying to get my stash down since I lost a drawer in my
file cabinet.

I've stamped and heat embossed the design to make it easy to watercolor by picking
up ink from the lids of the inkpads with a damp waterbrush.

I'll add sentiments when I'm ready to send these.  My snippet stamps will work
well on them.

Graduation

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We have a special graduate this year.

He graduated from high school Summa Cum Laude and we were bowled over when we saw
that he was giving the Farewell Address.  He makes us proud!

Now for the card info...

This is a monarch size slimline card (7.25" x 3.75")
I have cut it so 1 1/2" folds up from the bottom to hold some cash.

His High School Colors match up with his College colors so it was pretty easy
to decide what color to go with.

And for our neighbor who is also graduating from High School...

Ink:   Encore Gold
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Real Red, Night of Navy, Snippet of Gold Foil

Fluffy Chick

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Sharing some fun cards today...

This is actually the second card I made. I stamped this gal with Pool Party ink
and used a damp waterbrush to pull the ink into the feathers. When it was dry,
I restamped with gray Archival ink.

Then I gave her a pedicure and some "lipstick".

And the first card I made....

seemed impossible for me to get good photos with all that shine and sparkle!
This fluffy gal is aqua and the photo wants to show her more blue.

I've inked this stamp with Distress Ink on watercolor paper, then pulled the color
from the outline with a damp brush.  After blending the color, I stamped again in Archival Ink
to define the feathers a little more.

I wasn't happy with how I colored her feet, so I made her some funky shoes. LOL!
I hope she'll bring a smile to a sweet friend.

Card Recipe (card 1)
