I tried my hand at Stencil Monoprint again.

It still comes out very messy for me.

I have really enjoyed seeing all the crisp prints in the gallery at

CAS Mix Up.  Maybe one day, I'll get that result.  This time we'll just say

that I was looking for a impressionist look.

Gingham Trees

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have another twofer and just skidding in under the wire for 

one challenge.

When I saw the mood board at the Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge #3, I

knew I had to play along.

I had a couple of pieces of decorative paper in black and white checks and

a fun tree die that needed to see some action.

While looking for something to use for a background, I found this piece of

stencil monoprint in my background basket that worked great.

After I had die cut the stitched rectangle from it, I thought the leftover piece

would be perfect as a frame for another stencil monoprint that must have been

a first pull because it was darker.

So here's the twofer...

I think I like this one better.

What's in Your Cup for CAS Stencil

Hi there.  Are you ready for the weekend?

H

I sponged some Real Red ink through a stencil.

When I removed the stencil, I spritzed with some water and laid it

on a piece of Mixed Media paper and pressed down.

This created a stencil monoprit that looks like a warm and cozy

sweater or afghan.

It's been paired up with a cup colored with red re-inker dropped

onto a wet die cut cup.  I've filled the cup with some hot cappuccino

and a healthy helping of whipped cream. 

(Whipped cream is healthy isn't it?)

Special Event

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARNELL!!

Please join us in celebrating Darnell's Birthday!!

One more part to this special event.
The team has made special cards for Darnell's birthday,
along with our Guest Designer Leslie,
and several Featured Designers (friends from the retreat).

During our retreat, Darnell (Dolly to us) was up early one morning
and decided she wanted some frozen blueberries.
Some how she spilled almost the whole, Costco-sized bag of
blueberries all over the floor.

Bonnie snapped these pictures.

See the swipe of blueberries on the right photo??  We couldn't find a broom so we grabbed
a large piece of card stock to pick up the berries.  As they thawed, the blueberry juice
"smooshed" on the cardstock in a lovely design that looked perfect for card making.

Well, without Dolly knowing, we kept that piece of blueberry smoosh and cut it up.
Each Designer has used one piece in making Dolly's birthday cards. :)

I wish I'd taken a picture of my smooshed piece before I cut it up.  

My piece had lots of blueberry juice on it.

Hence the dark blue flowers.

I used some of the more splattered piece for the daisies and 

shaped the flowers, popping some up for added dimension.

The stems were watercolored using a Distress marker and

spreading the color with my waterbrush.

The vase was cut using a Christmas ornament die and a background of

stencil monoprint.  For the monoprint I'd used some Lindy's Magicals

sprinkled and spritzed on a stencil, then pressed onto mixed media paper.

I've added some Nuvo Crystal Glaze to shine up the vase.

The background was done with a stencil and embossing paste.

Flower Power for Memory Box

Hello and welcome.

I've really enjoyed this Verona Bouquet die from Memory Box.

I die cut from mixed media paper and used sponge daubers to add ink
to the flowers and leaves.  Then I used a damp waterbrush to move the ink,
adding more ink from a palette when needed.

I've shaped the flowers with a stylus on a soft mat
and popped them over a piece of stencil monoprint.

The stencil monoprint was done with a crackle stencil and powdered
Lindy's Magicals.  It was not the first pressing or else I blotted it with a paper towel.
It was in the background box and honestly, I don't remember 'xactly.
My rememberer isn't functioning as well as it use to!

The embossing around the aperture was done with a die.

Magic Butterfly and Stencil Monoprint

Hello dear friends.

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

I've been seeing Alexandra Renke products on your blogs and couldn't resist 

buying a few things for myself.

We are such an enabling community!

I LOVE this butterfly die and cut it three times from watercolor paper.

I watercolored one die cut using some re-inker and water.

The other two die cuts were glued together and I used the watercolor around the edges.

When the butterfly was dry, I used a black marker to color in the body and antennae.

Waiting for it to dry is the hardest but most necessary part!

One of my online friends had enabled me to find some black Lindy's Magicals

and I played with the stencil monoprint technique using some of that

magical powder.  It's amazing to see all the colors in this black powder.

This piece was a second pull from the monoprint.

You can get a peek at the Alexandra Renke Washi tape I put on the inside of the card.

The vine background was done by sprinkling Brusho crystals over

the stencil and spritzing with water.  Then I pressed the inked up stencil

on a piece of mixed media paper to get this print.

I've die cut this Memory Box bird from a corrugated coffee cup wrapper

and sponged a little whisper white and coral ink on him.

He's all framed up in Linen Texture Embossing. 

My mixed media are Stencil Monoprint, Brushos, Die Cuts, Dry Embossing, 

Corrugated Cardboard and Stamping.

Happy Monoprint

Hello Friends.  I'm glad you could stop by.

I found this monoprint in my stuffed to the gills box of backgrounds.  

It's a piece left over from these cards.

To make the piece, I dragged Mini Distress Ink cubes along the stencil,

spritzed with water and pressed onto mixed media paper.

The happy die was a birthday gift from a special friend. I used vellum

for the background and a snippet of cardstock for the happy.

Birthday was stamped and heat embossed.

There's a little dry embossing too.

My mixed media are Stencil Monoprint, Stamping, Heat Embossing, 

Dry Embossing and Die Cuts.

Feathery Birthday for CAS Mix Up

Hello friends.  I'm so glad you could stop by.

It's time for another challenge at CAS Mix Up.
Nancy is hosting us this month and she chose...

Here's my card.

Using Stencil Monprint, Stamping, Heat Embossing, Die Cut, Alcohol Ink and Gelato.

My stencil monoprint was done by usng metallic Gelato on a stencil and rubbing

it through the openings with my finger.

You'll see that print later.

Then I spritzed the stencil with water and pressed onto a piece of

mixed media paper.

It has a lovely shimmer when the light hits it.

The feather die was in my NBUS box and I found a piece of 

alcohol inked Yupo in my background box.

There is a copper feather underneath the alcohol feather.

You can't see it well but it added some stability.

I've used a piece of copper foil as a mat and it all seemed

to fit best on a brown card base.

It will make a great birthday card for our oldest grandson.

wonderful inspiration for you at the challenge site.
