Hopping By

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

After trying many coloring mediums to find the perfect one for a class, I had
a lot of frog samples left over.  This is one that I stamped on a scrap oval die cut.

I love plaid paper.  It's fun and seems to pair with this jaunty frog perfectly!

Teen cards are hard for me and I'm trying to get some together for the grandkids to
take with them to birthday parties.  This will go in that stash.

Challenges:
Penny Black Saturday - ATG Penny Black option of Happy Birthday
Tic Tac Toe 249 -left hand column (layers, die cut, patterned paper

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Toadily (PB), Snippets (PB)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Christmas Plaid PP (MFT), Christmas Pine (GKD)
Other:  Double Stitched Oval STAX die (MFT), Fluted Oval die (Spl), Ohuhu Marker (Gy3), Pink, Black Ultrafine Sharpies, Sequins (?)

Yellow Roses

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

On this card, I've used the stamp set that my friend lent to me.

I'm going to be singing The Yellow Rose of Texas all day now.

I stamped the flowers on Mixed Media paper with Warm Glow ink and colored
with Zigs and my trusty waterbrush.

For the background, I used a new to me embossing folder that a sweet friend
recently sent to me.  Thank you, my friend.

The narrow panel was embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.  It's a shame
that it's retired now!  I've added a slightly larger piece of linen patterned paper to
peek out from each side.

The yellow "splatters" are stamped and the black done with a Micron pen.

Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. inspiration this week is Embossing Folders for week three of the month.

Challenges:
The Flower Challenge #92 - Use the sketch below

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Garden Rose (Alt), Snippets (PB), Splatters (?)
Ink:   Warm Glow (GKD), Crushed Curry, Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:  Mixed Media (Strathmore), Neenah Solar White, Linen PP (Doodlebug)
Other:  Garden Rose Die (Alt), Checkered Scallops EF (Spl), Zigs (yellow, mustard, May Green, Deep Green)

Enjoy!

Take a Page

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

As a former librarian, it's hard for me to tear a page out of a book.
But I bought this little book from a thrift shop for just such an occasion.

The gals from Double D have weddings in mind and ask for three from the old poem, Something old, Something new, Something borrowed, Something blue.

I had just borrowed the Rose Garden Craft Your Life set from a friend and used the
embossing folder for my background.  Something old is the page from a book,
and I die cut a butterfly from a piece of blue toned alcohol inked Yupo.

I had the idea for using the book page from the Try it on Tuesday challenge.

Challenges:
Double D - Pick Three from Old, New, Borrowed, Blue (I chose Old, Borrowed and Blue)
Triple B - ATG Birds, Butterflies and Blooms (Butterfly)
Try it on Tuesday - Book Pages

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Naturals Ivory, Neenah Solar White, Yupo
Other:  Garden Rose Craft Your Life EF (Alt), Dreamy Butterfly (MB), Alcohol Ink (Laguna, Glacier), Nesting Slim Labels (Alt), Gift Book

Mountains

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Our swap theme last month for Craft Group was mountains.
It left me scratching my head!

Then I remembered this scene building set that's been sitting on the shelf for a
few years.  It's not available from Stampin' Up anymore.  That's how long it's been
sitting there.  Although I think they retire their things way too quickly!

But I digress.

I ended up keeping this one for a Father's Day card.

I've inked, spritzed and stamped the mountains with Crumb Cake ink, then
over-stamped with Pear Pizzaz.  For the mountain in the middle, I wiped ink off
the ends with my finger.

I used more stamps for the grass, stamping several times and
adding lots of water to let the ink run.

To finish, I die cut a frame an popped it over the top after I embossed the main image.

I had die cut some of the designs for my swaps and had this frame left over.

It was too pretty to throw away.  So I stamped some mountains and trees to go with it.
I used lighter shades of ink or stamped off to get the feeling of distance and popped
the frame up with dimensional tape.

It was a perfect place to put this sentiment and ended up being my favorite.

Here's a peek at the cards I took to swap.

More Lemons

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I used the lemon stamp set from this card for a card in my last class.  Since I had a
leftover kit, I decided to use it for the Color Hues Challenge.

I made a few changes in the background color and leaves to fit this challenge
and added an extra lemon to the front.

The leaves were cut from white and colored with some yellow ink with
blue sponged over the top.  It left a blue color but a different shade of blue from the
sentiment and splatters.

I'm loving the die and embossing folder combos...As long as I remember to cut first,
then emboss!

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - ATG with embossing folder (did not use the option)
Color Hues #88 - Blue and Yellow

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sweet Citrus (ret SU), Every Day Sayings (HA)
Ink:   Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Pacific Point

Enjoy!

Peaceful Snowflake

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I saw the mood board at Peace on Earth, I knew just what I wanted to do.
Then life interrupted that thought.

Life slowed down and fortunately this time the idea worked out.

I die cut this four layer snowflake from some blue glitter paper.  The paper is pretty
thin so I had to cut another from white cardstock and glue the glitter cuts on top.
It was tedious but worth the effort.

The background is a piece of packing foam.  It has an icy look, I think. that
works perfectly with the snowflake.  I added a die cut sentiment cut from silver foil.
I captured the shine in the photo, but it ended up looking white.
Rest assured it's silver and so are some of the little dots.

Challenges:
Peace on Earth - Inspired by the mood board below.  Guess which picture.

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Blue Glitter Paper (?), Silver Foil
Other:  Stunning Snowflake Die (TH), Christmas Greetings Thinlits (ret SU), Packing foam, Circle Punches

Enjoy!

Pink Seahorse

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you had a lovely weekend.
I had several stamping friends making cards.

The card is similar to one that they did.  I used a leftover set and substituted pink
for the coral we used in class to fit with the challenge at Just Us Girls.

I used the lightest shade of pink in my drawer, stamped and heat embossed the
stamping with white powder.  Then I sponged a darker shade of pink on the
seahorse and white on the shells.  I sponged a bit of white on the aqua dry
embossed piece too

Some die cutting and a bit of stamping finished it off.

It was more work than we usually try to do in a class, but I think everyone
agreed that the results were worth the effort.

Challenges:
Just Us Girls #730 - Color Week (Pink & Aqua)
I'm joining Darnell with her I.D.E.A.S  using Dies

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Seahorse Garden (Spl), Shells (?)
Ink:   Whisper White, Regal Rose
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Pool Party, Pink Pirouette
Other:  White EP, Scattered Shells EF (Spl), Seahorse Garden Dies (Spl), Fluted Oval dies (Spl), Seagrass Die (?)

Enjoy!

Lemony

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Here's another one of those stamp sets that retired before I could use it.
I'm sure you can find something similar if you are looking.

I embossed a piece of Neenah 110 lb Solar White cardstock with the 3D embossing
folder and colored the lemons and leaves with Copics.

It has a die with the bundle so I cut the lemons and taped them into the embossing
folder with the ones that matched up with the dies and embossed.  Then I colored them
up to match the background.

After splitting and trimming the background, I popped the die cut and embossed
lemon pieces over the top

We'll be doing another card using this set in class later this week.
I love getting more than one design from a set!

Can You Handle the Pressure - ATG Embossing with option of fruit or veggie

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sentiment Strips (Alt)

Frgrant Florals in Yellow

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you had a good weekend with some crafty time.

I used a layering stencil on this large floral design.  After it was colored, I die cut it
and cut the image in half so it would cover two corners.
The sentiment was done with the Betterpress.

Just Us Girls #729 - (CASEing Elizabeth with yellow and green on black)
Krafty Chicks #718 - Krafty Chicks (Anything Goes)

This week Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. prompt is to use ink.  I used blending brushes with
Simon Says ink through a stencil using Elizabeth's colors.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Fragrant Florals (Alt)
Ink:   Warm Glow (GKD), Lemonade, Sunbeam, Citrus, Peachy, Pearfection, Field, Pine, Cherry, Mocha (SSS)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Black
Other:  Fragrant Florals Stencil & Die, Fancy Sentiments Pressplate & Die, Micron Pen

Enjoy!
