Bashful Copper

We're using metal on our cards at CAS Mix Up this month.

I've used another piece of a heated copper die cut that dear Loll sent me a long time ago.

I put the flower on a piece of Brusho background.

I explain how I did it on this post.

I added a drop of alcohol ink to the flower center.

Here's another view that shows the shine of the copper better.

My mixed media are heated copper, Brusho watercolor, stamping, heat embossing and die cuts.

I was quite lazy and dug into some wonderful heated copper die cuts

that my dear friend Loll had sent me.  Thank you again, sweet friend.

I pulled out a background piece done with Brushos

sprinkled into spray starch and popped it behind a die cut square.

You don't have to have copper to join in this challenge.

There are lots of ways to incorporate metal into our cards.

I can't wait to see how you use it.

CASEing Sandie

Inkspirational has a fun challenge this week.

The challenge is to CASE any card from Sandie's blog.

I love Sandie's modern CAS style

and she's a sweetheart to boot.

I had trouble deciding which card to CASE.

I ended up with this one.

Here's my CASE

I used some of the heated copper that was a gift from Loll.

It punched like butter and didn't it make a pretty flower?

The little background piece is from a polished stone technique.

It was really hard to get a good photo with all that shine!

Paper:  Glossy (for polished stone), Neenah Solar White

Other:  Heated Copper, Pansy Punch, Petite Petals Punch, Basic Pearl

Copper Birds

Yesterday I posted a card in honor of my friend Loll.

A while back, Loll sent me some copper sheets that she had heated.

Thank you so much for  your generosity, Loll.

She's made some gorgeous cards with the copper.

Here's one that I did with it.

I also used the Faux Mother of Pearl technique that she has used several times lately.

To do this technique you put some Frost White paint on a craft sheet or wax paper

Dip some scrunched up plastic wrap in the paint, dab off the excess and tap the paint lightly on a piece of white cardstock leaving some of the cardstock uncovered.

Let it dry.

Sponge ink on the paper.  It won't stick to the frost paint.

I sponged the top piece with Certainly Celery and Wild Wasabi.

The piece behind and the flowers were sponged with Very Vanilla. 

After sponging the color, I rubbed with a folded paper towel to remove any ink from the frost paint.

I love the way the copper has different colors in it from the heating.

The tiny flowers were punched from some of the frost and vanilla FMOP and

punched with one of the Itty Bitty Shapes punches. 

I used a 1/16" circle punch to punch the ends of the flowers to look like Dogwood.

The punched ends were tapped with a Primrose Petal marker.

The centers are a tiny pearl colored with a yellow Copic Marker.
