Birds for the Twofer

Hello dear friends.

I have another Twofer.

I  used the Memory Box Elodee Bird in my January class and since it was 

handy I just kept going with it.

I thought these two would work well for 

The Twofer Challenge

Don't you think the texture makes beautiful feathers?

This card uses the negative of the die with an embossed piece behind it.

The piece was stamped with the Sanded Background stamp before I used the die.

This pretty guy was cut from a piece colored with Lindy's Magical Powders spritzed 

with lots of water, covered with cling wrap and left to dry.  You can see the piece

this was cut from here.

He really shimmers from those powders.

Hi, I've been playing with cling wrap again.

This time I played with something new to me.

My dear friend Loll sent me some Lindy's Magical Powders and I had fun playing with them.

I sprinkled some Sassy Sapphire on a piece of coated paper and spritzed.

I moved the color a bit with a waterbrush to get the powders to blend with the water.

Then I laid a piece of cling wrap on top, wrinkling it up good, and let it dry.

I wish the camera would show you the shimmer.  It's really pretty!

I found some birch die cuts in my UFO box (yes I still have stuff in there) and 

popped it on top.  (Thanks, Nance)

I saw that my good friend Marcia is hosting at Merry Monday this week

and asking for turquoise and red.  So I die cut a cardinal to add 

to the birch tree and stamped a sentiment in red.

CAS Mix Up is having so much fun using Cling Wrap this month.

Challenge is open until the 24th

I found another piece of smooshed cardstock in my stash and did a second card too.

I'm trying to get lots of Christmas cards made through the year so I won't 

be caught short again.

Feathery Cling Wrap

Hello.  I'm glad you stopped by.

I tried something different with the cling wrap technique.

I got a fun new to me product for Christmas and I've had fun playing.

Thank you dear friend.

Here are two pieces that I played with.

On the bottom piece, using a coated paper, I sprinkled these powders, 

spritzed liberally with water, then laid down some cling wrap and smooshed it around.

Then I wrinkled up the cling wrap, pressed it down and left it to dry.

Several hours later I pulled off the cling wrap and seeing lots of wet color

on the cling wrap, I laid it on another piece of coated paper and left it.

I loved the feathery look that was left behind when I removed the cling!

This is the piece I used for this card.

I die cut a feather out of some handmade paper in my stash and added some 

heat embossing to the edges.

I wasn't sure how the ink would do on the coated paper, so I
used some Archival ink and heat embossed it for good measure.

It was laying on the table with the design piece off center and I liked it.
So I popped it up with some foam and let it stay right there.

True Love CAS Mix Up Reminder

Hello, dear friends.

It's already the middle of the month and time for another Cling Wrap card.

This month Nancy has challenged us to  use cling wrap.

We have lots of videos at CAS Mix Up if you're not sure 

how to go about using cling wrap.

The Design Team is joined this month by Christine (It's a Card's Day Night)

The designs are bound to inspire you.

My background was done with alcohol ink and lots of blending solution.

I scrunched up some cling wrap over the wet inks and left it to dry.

I was going to die cut the heart from it, but I kept thinking "Achy, Breaky Heart"

and decided to use it for the background and have my heart whole. LOL!

Don't want to give a broken heart to my true love!

I die cut the heart from some textured cardstock, pressed it in a VersaMark pad,

and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  It's popped up on some foam.

I love the texture that shows through the embossing and goes well

with the gold mixative I added to the alcohol inks.

My mixed media are 

stamping, cling wrap technique with alcohol ink, die cut and heat embossing.

Cling Wrap for CAS Mix Up

Happy New Year!

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Mix Up.

Here's my card.....

 I used some coated card stock that our friend Christine has sent me and sprayed some

spray starch on it.  Then I sprinkled some Brushos (Prussian Blue, Cobalt, Turquoise and Crimson)

on the spray starch.  I used a waterbrush to move the color around a bit and blend in the crystals.

Then I laid a piece of cling wrap on top scrunching it up to make lots of wrinkles.

I left it to dry a bit, then pulled off the cling wrap. It left behind some really interesting designs.

My mixed media are stamping, Brushos, cling wrap and die cuts.

Here's another using Ostwald Blue Brusho.

I got the flower to low so I added some black rhinestones to 

the opposite corner to balance it out.

Our Design Team has some wonderful examples of this technique and there are videos 

on the challenge site with great cling wrap techniques.

We are excited to have Christine (It's a card days night) join our team

as Guest Designer.  She won our challenge in November.
