Purple and Orange for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for another challenge at Color Hues.

This month Steph picked our colors.
She chose....

Aren't these fantastic colors for Fall?

I chose to use these colors to fill my Curio Cabinet from The Greetery. It's filled
with treasures of Fall cut with their Autumn Findings and some stitched pumpkins dies
from my recent winnings at Time Out.

Everything was cut from Neenah Solar White and colored with blending brushes
and Distress ink.  I used ink that was left on the brushes to add color behind the images.

Now let's go and see what my talented friends and our
fantastic Guest Designer Bobby have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Purple and Orange and add it to the gallery at

Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on October 29th.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Take Care (ret SU)
Ink:   Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Wilted Violet, Villianous Potion, Antique Linen (DI), Chocolate Chip (SU)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Curio Divider & Details Die, Curio Cover Die, Curio Autumn Findings Dies (Greetery), Stitched Pumpkins (Lawn Fawn)

Enjoy!

Autumn Herbarium and Freshly Made Sketches

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I couldn't resist the Autumn Herbarium stamp and stencil set from The Greetery.
I had to add the embossing folder too.

I have spent the past week having so much fun with this set!

Here's the sketch that Judy gave us to work with....

I cut the background pieces from Neenah Solar White, loaded them in the embossing
folder (very carefully) and embossed.  Then I used the stencils to add color with blending
brushes and Distress inks.  I only colored the two corners, leaving the opposite corners as
embossed white space.

I had also included the Oblong Octagon Labels stamp and die in this order.
After die cutting, I stamped the frames and sentiment to add as the circle element.

Be sure to check out Freshly Made Sketches and maybe play along too.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Oblong Octagon Labels (Grtry)
Ink:   Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Crackling Campfire, Wilted Violet (DI), Soft Suede
Paper:  Neenah Solar White
Other:  Autumn Herbarium EF & Stencil (Grtry), Oblong Octagon Labels dies (Grtry)

Enjoy!

Ghostly Happy Halloween

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm kind of stuck on the idea of an embossed spider web on my
Halloween cards this year.  They make such a good background with a bit of
sponged white along the raised bits.

And I have been enjoying the Unity Creep it Tweet set.

The images was stamped on a piece of Neenah solar white that had been cut with
an arch die and paired with the next size arch behind.  I sponged some purple
along the edges and colored the sheet with a bit of purple that was left on the brush.

We used the same layout in the last class but used the witch stamp.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - must use embossing folder with a twist of Anything Fall (spider web)
Just Us Girls #796 - Word Week (Halloween)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Creep it Tweet (Unity)
Ink:   Nocturne (VFC), Wilted Violet (DOX), Whisper White (SU)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Going Gray
Other:  Spider Web EF (CB), Essential Arches dies (SB), Spooky Boo dies (SB), Halloween Frightful Things (TH), Stitched Pumpkins (LF)

Enjoy!

Little Nordic Tree

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Last year at Christmas the Greetery included this tree in an order as a
surprise Christmas gift.  Isn't this the sweetest little tree?

I die cut the tree from Neenah Solar White and used blending brushes to color it.

It's placed in some torn snow banks with embossed snowfall behind.

The star was punched from glitter paper.

I still have a few of these shiny stickers left.  They make wonderful tree decorations
without the bulk of sparkly gems.

My dear friend Loll is guesting at Christmas Kickstart and chose this challenge.

Challenges:
ABC Christmas - V is for Vertical

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:   Sage (PFS), Weathered Wood, Whisper White
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Blue Texture (?), Sparkling Diamonds Glimmer (SU)
Other:  Mini Nordic Christmas Tree die (Grtry), Kars Snowflake EF (ret), Joy die (Elizabeth Crafts)

Enjoy!

Grateful for You

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The leaves are beginning to change, but so far no bright colors around here.
But the leaves are getting bright on my cards!

I used my favorite leaf die to cut from watercolor paper and added re-inker
to wet leaves for brilliant color.

The circle fell out of my Infinity Circle pouch a while ago and it was waiting to
find a place on a card.  Freshly Made Sketches took care of that.

Since the circle was cut from the cover of a mixed media tablet (the backside) and
has a bit of texture, I cut some more for the background and top panel.

I used a new leaf stamp to lightly stamp leaves on that layer, tore it on each
end and mounted it over a snippet of brown cardstock.

Challenges:
Just Us Girls #795 - Die Week Bobby asks for die cut leaves

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Skeleton Leaves (GKD)
Ink:   Cocoa (SSS)
Paper:   Cover of Mixed Media tablet, Chocolate Chip
Other:  Stitched Leaves dies (LF), Re-inkers, Infinity Circles

Enjoy!

More Gnomes

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Another gnome found his way to a card.

The gnome and mushrooms were colored with Copics and die cut.

I need to borrow the set again to do a sentiment.

I was inspired by the mushrooms.

Just because I have one more gnome to share....

I did this background at the Craft Group meeting.  The gnome I colored there
didn't make it to a card, but I discovered I had this one that I'd colored previously
and he was a perfect fit.

This is the sentiment I have in mind for the first card. Or maybe something else.

I'll take this one to Krafty Chicks #788 - Birthday

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Storytime Gnomes (SB)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Kraft
Other:  Storytime Gnomes dies (SB), Mushroom Stems, Cracked EF (TH), Copic Markers, Gold Metallic pen

Enjoy!

Christmas Tree Cat

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Christmas is coming at breakneck speed it seems.

The pages of that calendar turn so fast!

A friend came to spend some crafty time with me a little while back and she
brought some of her Christmas toys for me to try.  That's always a lot of fun and a
great way to expand our stash.

I stamped this adorable image and colored it with Copics.

Anybody that's ever had a cat can appreciate their fascination with Christmas trees.
Our cat never tried to climb the tree like this one, but she had a favorite snowflake that
would be on the flour every morning.  We don't have that kitty any longer, but that
battered snowflake still finds it's place on our Christmas tree with sweet memories
of an old friend.

Challenges:
ABC Christmas - S is for stocking - T is for tree
Peace on Earth #96 - Anything Goes Christmas

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Christmas Tree Cat (CC), Splatters (?), sentiment - Prancers (PB)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Old Olive, (Wild Wasabi)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Garden Green, (Cherry Cobbler)
Other:  Copics (C00, C0, G24, G20, G14, R29, R39, E99, E27, E19, Y13, Y17, R20)

Enjoy!

Rust and Yellow for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for another challenge at Color Hues.

This time the challenge is brought to us by my sweet friend Marcia.
She chose.....

Aren't they perfect for Fall cards?

I've die cut the sunflower blossoms four times from So Saffron and Pale Papaya
cardstock, then colored with tiny blending brushes and Distress Inks.

I stacked the two yellow and two rust with alternating petals and popped
a die cut center over each.

Leaves were die cut from a snippet of kraft cardstock and I sponged the
edges with some Toffee Crunch ink.

This leafy embossing folder has an unembossed circle in the center that's
perfect for adding the sentiment.

Now let's go over to Color Hues and see what the my talented friends have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Rust & Yellow and add it to the gallery at

Please only use hues of these two colors. Neutrals are welcome.
Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on October 14th.

The winners will be posted an hour before our next challenge and the overall
winner will have the opportunity to be a future Guest Designer.

Most importantly, just have fun!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Super Day (PB)
Ink:   Soft Suede (SU), Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge (DI), Memento Toffee Crunch
Paper:   Neenah Natural, So Saffron, Pale Papaya
Other:  Autumn Serenade EF (SB), Sunflower Serenade dies (SB)

Enjoy!

Berried Cottoneaster

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This past week I've taken a dive into my stencils.  It was mainly because I was
invited to Seize the Birthday as a Surprise Party Guest and the challenge is A CAS card
using a stencil.  This was my first try and it would have worked fine except that I was
careless when I went back to emboss again after coloring and got a crease on the
front of the card.

Hence the sentiment layers.  They work to cover up the boo boo, but took
some of the clean and simple out of the card front.

The photo doesn't show the texture from the embossing.  That's my favorite part of this card.

Lucky me that Lisa at Just Us Girls is asking for Anything Goes with a stencil.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Special Sentiments (PB)
Ink:   Early Espresso (SU), Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door, Aged Mahogany, Mowed Lawn, Forest Moss, Vintage Photo (DI)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Early Espresso
Other:  Berried Cottoneaster EF & Stencil (Alt)

Enjoy!

Sending You Gnome

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Last week our Craft Group met and our hostess had stamped some
gnomes for us to color and put on cards.

I was having a hard time coloring that day and ended up with gnomes in
the trash, but I had stamped and colored some of these gnomes when my friend
had lent me the stamps and dies at an earlier time.  Those gnomes were waiting
patiently to find their place on a card.

Freshly Made Sketches to the rescue!

Here's Narelle's sketch

The gnome was colored with Copics and the background is a new embossing
folder that I just had to buy after seeing Donna's fabulous cards.

I'll complete the sentiment when I know what I'll send it for.  I'm thinking it would
make a good get well card.  A cup of hot tea and a good book always make me
feel better.

I'll take this to the Darnell's NBUS gallery too since this is the first time
I've used this embossing folder and Jan's gnomes.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Storytime Gnomes (SB), Sending You Phrases (Creek Bank)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Storytime Gnomes dies (SB), Copics, Cracked EF (TH), Slim Stripes die (PFS)

Enjoy!
