Thankful

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm really enjoying fall colors these days and the cooler temperatures
and less humidity.  These kind of days seem to be rare and appreciated.

Last month's calendar page paired well with this copper Thankful.  After I die
cut the calendar illustration, I embossed it with the Subtle EF.

One less thing in the UFO box.  That's always a good thing.

Leaf Ring New Home

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Whew, it's been a busy weekend but I managed to get a card done.

When I saw Narelle's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, I immediately thought of this
die in my NBUS box.  I do love a wreath and keep one on my front door.  I guess it's
time to change it up for fall.  But today, it's a wreath to wish blessings on a new home.

The embossed background was done with a long retired Stampin' Up embossing folder.
The wreath was cut from Neenah Solar White and colored with a couple of Copics.

I cut the bow from a scrap of Calypso Coral and added a bit of ink in the center.
The camera says it's red, but my eyes say it's coral.

It will be on it's way as soon as I get the new address.

BTW here's Narelle's sketch

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Holiday Homes (ret SU)
Ink:   Calypso Coral
Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Classic Leaf Ring die (SSS), Copics (G43, G46), Fit to be Tied die (Grtry)

Enjoy!

Butterflies for Fun

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

In my quest for the dusty blue and brown that I was looking for at Color Hues, I
made several cards using a Penny Black Butterfly.  I was really hung up on
that butterfly and not satisfied that it was what I wanted.

Here they are...

First I tried a piece of alcohol ink.  It has some blue, brown and gold.
I stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne and clear embossed before fussy cutting.

It's okay.

Next I embossed with copper and colored with Ohuhu markers.  Too dark so I tried
some splatters.  Actually the splatters went well, but the blue was too dark for dusty blue.

So I stamped in brown and colored with Ohuhu markers using a flicking motion instead
of filling in with color and blending.  Once it was dry, I patted it with VersaMark
and heat embossed with clear powder.

Then I gave up and made this card.

If you've stayed with me this long, I have another sort of butterfly to share from my garden.

It's a hummingbird moth.  He was constantly moving so hard to get a photo.
I'd never seen one before, just pictures.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Butterfly Trio (PB), Blessings (PB), Praying for You (PTI)
Ink:   Nocturne (VC), VersaMark, Warm Cocoa (GKD)
Paper:   Warm Cocoa (GKD), Neenah Solar White, Powder (C9), Black
Other:  Clear EP, Lindy's Midnight Copper EP, Ohuhu Markers, Cracked Large EF (TH), Stitched Circles (SSS)

Enjoy!

Cheerful Flowers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My friend Nance came to play recently.  She always brings a stack of
her new goodies to share.

One of the things she brought was a stencil and die set from Waffle Flower and
some pretty arched dies.

I went very simple with the stencil and just used one color so I could concentrate
on the visit and not the stenciling.  The whimsical flower was die cut from Neenah
Solar White and I used brushes and ink to color it.  The die set is 2 pieces, an outline
and the solid flower.  I tried to keep the outline a bit lighter on the flower.

The sentiment was cut from a scrap of Nectar cardstock and brushed with
Grapefruit & Pimento ink for ombre look. I kept the shadow background white.

Challenges:
I.D.E.A.S. - Stencil Week
Just Us Girls - ATG using a stencil
Seize the Birthday - Dies Only
Stencil Fun - ATG using a stencil

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:   Blushing Bride (SU), Eucalyptus, Parsley, Buttercup, Pimento (C9)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Nectar, Grapefruit (C9)
Other:  Cheerful Flowers Stencils & Dies (Kristina Werner for C9), Sweet Sentiments (Alt), Make a Wish Arched Labels, Essential Arches (SB)

Enjoy!

Dusy Blue and Brown for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Even though I struggled to find the right shade of blue, I ended up with
several cards for my stash.

This month Nancy picked our colors.  She chose....

A sweet friend recently sent me a box of cardmaking goodies and this sweet stamp
was in there.  I was so excited.  It had been on my wishlist for quite a while.

I stamped it with Memento Toffee Crunch on Betterpress paper and used my
Zigs and waterbrush to color it.  The snow sparkles with Wink of Stella.  I'm not
sure why the camera saw grey.  Some chunky Frantage was heated from the back
for some snowfall.

A twofer for today.....

There were also some embossing folders in that box.  You know how much I love
embossing folders!  I still haven't tried them all out.  It's fun to have that to look
forward to!    This one embossed a strip and I had this circle aperture sitting
on the table that worked good to show off the embossing.  I used blending
brushes to color the embossing.  The dragonfly was all done and waiting for
a place to land.  I like having a variety of sympathy cards in my stash.

Now let's go and see what my talented friends and our
fantastic Guest Designer Michele have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Dusty Blue & Brown and add it to the gallery at

Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on September 14th.

The winners will be posted an hour before our next challenge and the overall
winner will have the opportunity to be a future Guest Designer.

Most importantly, just have fun!

Edited to add that I'll add this to CAS Christmas - Woodland Creatures.
Thanks Loll.

Daisy Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you had a nice weekend.  I got in a quick bit of crafty time.....

to do a card using my dear, sweet friend Michele's sketch at

The daisy is three pieces die cut from watercolor paper and colored with re-inkers
and a waterbrush.  The smaller square has a light smooshing of the same
re-inker watered down and picked up with acetate.

The background square was embossed and patted with a white inkpad.  I should
have used a smaller square for the flower so more of the embossing would show.

The Design Team has wonderful inspiration, as always.  Let's see all the
creative beauties in the gallery.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Handwritten Notes (ret PTI)
Ink:   Gorgeous Grape, Whisper White
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Fresh Freesia (SU), Watercolor (Alt)
Other:  Dewdrop Daisy (SSS), Pepperberry Bundle EF (SSS), Stitched Squares (SSS), Subtle EF (ret SU), Fresh Freesia & Daffodil Re-inkers

Enjoy!

Sunflower Garden

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I saw the mood board at Just Us Girls, I really zeroed in
on the sunflowers.  They are such a happy flower!

Here's the board...

Sunflowers and butterflies make me happy.  Hopefully this card will
make someone else happy.

I used a stencil that does a whole background.  I even got it lined up right
on the first try!  I added some stamped splatters too and just one butterfly today.

Let's go over to Just Us Girls and enjoy the Design Team's lovely inspiration
pieces and that luscious gallery!

Good Luck

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have something I think will make you smile.  It made me smile and
I hope my brother will smile when he opens it.

This fun guy was stamped with Memento ink and colored with Ohuhu Alcohol Markers.

I cut the image with a deckled die and used a smaller stitched deckle die to
emboss on it to draw the eye in to the image.

I found this random piece of patterned paper.  I think it's the last of a package
of paper that came with a kit.  All those candles helped me to decide which of
the fun sentiments to use.

I punched some dots from the stripes on the reverse side of this paper.

Challenges:
NBUS #89 - Never Before Used Schtuff (stamp)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Still Kickin' (Unity)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Whisper White
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Pumpkin Pie, Patterned Paper (?)
Other:  Ohuhu Markers (WG01, WG10, E44, YR19, Y19, BG114), Deckle & Stitches dies (Unity), 1/8" Circle Punch, White EP

Freshly Picked Just for You

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you're having a nice weekend.  Even though I'm retired, the weekends
are still something to look forward to.

This week Cécile gave us this sketch to work with...

I used a new die set from Papertrey ink to die cut this flower and the leaves.  I cut
the flower from a light coral pink cardstock and ink blended around the edges with
some darker shades of ink.  The leaves were cut from Eucalyptus cardstock
and also ink blended.

I arranged it all on a piece of die cut mesh.

Challenges:
NBUS #89 - Never Before Used Schtuff (flower die)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Simple Holiday Mini Sentiments (Grtry)
Ink:   Grapefruit, Pimento, Poppy, Sunbeam, Eucalyptus, Parsley (C9), Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Nectar, Eucalyptus (C9)
Other:  Into the Blooms: Freshly Picked (PTI), Burlap Texture die (Alt), Subtle EF (ret SU)

Enjoy!

Embossed Daisies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A few weeks ago I received an unexpected gift from a sweet, sweet friend.

She had cleaned out her craft room and I was lucky enough to receive the
benefit of her industriousness!  This embossing folder was in the box
along with several others.  I do love embossing folders!

I embossed a piece of my new favorite yellow cardstock and patted my
white inkpad over the raised parts.  I kept turning the piece and patting until
I was happy with the coverage.  Then I took a tiny blending brush and after inking
it, I tapped it on the centers.  Some twine, a sentiment tucked among the flowers
and a die cut bee finished it off nicely.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - Use an embossing folder/twist of bees
Double D - Used the colors of the lemons
Triple B - Birds, Butterflies & Blooms

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Just Sentiments: Summer Mini (PTI)
Ink:   White, Pumpkin Pie (SU), Nocturne (VC)
Paper:   C9 Buttercup, Neenah Solar White
Other:  Fresh Daisies EF (SSS), Buzzing Bumblebees die (MB), Sharpies (to color bee)

Enjoy!
