Four Calling Birds

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by.

I've been working on my Christmas card stash.

I've pulled out an old wood mount stamp that I love.  It gave me another option
for Susan's 12 Days of Christmas challenge.

I did it in blue too.  Looks like there was a blizzard on this one.

I've stamped both with Memento ink and colored with Copics.

The sentiments are computer generated and I used some
heat embossing and dry embossing.

Challenges:
CAS Christmas - 12 Days of Christmas
Christmas Kickstart - Snow is Falling
Krafty Chicks #520 - Christmas

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Nance's Tag on a Card

Hi there.  I hope you've had a nice weekend.

I had some time today to play.

I didn't think I'd be able to play at Jingle Belles this time...
MAKE A CARD USING WRAPPING PAPER OR GIFT TAGS

I'd already put all my Christmas stuff away in the attic.

But then I remembered the tags.  I had kept some special tags out.

This was the tag that my friend Nance had on my bag of goodies.
I changed the ribbon to one slightly less bulky
and added it to some embossed snowflakes.

Thanks again, Nance.

Nance is on the Design Team for the Krafty Chick's Challenge
They've changed their format this year and the second week of the month
is Christmas.  So I'm going to share this with them.
and don't forget that we're putting tags on our Christmas cards at
CAS Christmas this month.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Christmas Peace

Hello Friends.  I'm so glad you could stop by!

There's still a little over a week to join in Colleen's challenge at

I found a piece of Inka Gold Smoosh in my backgrounds and cut it
with the smallest of the Mat Stack Dies.  It's cut a little narrower to
get the gold spots in strategic places.

I used the larger die to dry emboss a frame around the design piece.

The sentiment is heat embossed with gold and I've dipped the edges of
the design piece in an embossing pad and then into the gold embossing powder
for a subtle gold frame.

To me, the birth of Jesus means peace.

Our fabulous Design team have lots of wonderful inspiration for you and
we're joined by talented Guest Designer, Linda.

I hope we'll see you over at CAS Christmas.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Snowflake Shaker for CAS Christmas

Hello friends.

There's still time to join in at CAS Christmas.

Christine is hosting our challenge this month and she chose...

also joining in at Simon Says Wednesday Challenge
CLEAN AND SIMPLE
My snowflakes are stamped and heat embossed in white on a piece
of mixed media paper.

I smooshed some Distress Ink that onto my palette, picked up the color
with a water brush and dropped into a wet background.

I die cut the frame from some Neenah and a foam sheet and adhered
them with a piece of window sheet in between.  This made a pocket to hold some silver
sequins and micro beads.

I adhered the snowflake piece over the shakers and onto a card base.

The sentiment is stamped and embossed with silver.

Now it's your turn to put some blue and silver on a Christmas card
and get that Christmas stash started.  You'll be glad you did come time to
mail your cards!

Our fantastic Design Team and Guest Designer, Kaja have wonderful
inspiration pieces to share with you at the challenge site.

I hope you'll check out CAS Christmas and join the gallery.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Hello friends.

I love this star from Stampin' Up!

I've stamped it in gold on Vanilla cardstock, heat embossed with more gold
and die cut.

A snippet of embossed gold foil to rest on and another quick and simple card is done.

I'm going to join in at Pixie's Snippet Playground with this card.
This is such a fun group of playmates and I rarely get over there.

Santa's List

Hello.  We're over halfway through our CAS Christmas Challenge.

This month our talented Christine is hosting our challenge...

I've use a Santa from this fun set by Birdie Brown.

I love these Santas and they are such fun to color.

I've used some embossing paste through a stencil to look
like writing on the note paper.

The little presents from the set came in handy to hide an oops
from some wandering sparkle paste.  It looked good on Santa's beard
but not so good on the red card base.

The red card base by the way is my "white space".

The Design Team, along with our Guest Designer, Pam, have some
fun inspirational pieces to share with you.

I hope you'll check them out and join the fun!

While I was at it, I decided to put one of these Santas on a tag for

My mixed media are Stamping, Copic Coloring, Dry Embossing and Die Cutting.

Santa for CAS Christmas

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Christmas

I don't want to send you into a panic, but do you realize that
Christmas is right around the corner?

Yikes!

Christine is hosting our challenge this month and she chose.....

I had been wanting this Santa stamp for a long time and found it on sale
in a stamp store a while back and grabbed it!

I stamped the image with Vintage Sepia ink and used
watercolor pencils and a Blending pen to add a bit of color.

I have liberally winked with Stella and added some
Crystal Glaze on his glasses.

The image was matted with Cherry Cobbler and popped up
with some fun foam.

I was able to tuck some sparkly snowflakes under the edges.

I can't wait to see all the Santas in the gallery this month.

The Design Team as well as our wonderful Guest Designer Pam have
 some awesome inspiration for you.

The CAS Christmas Challenge is open until the 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Bitty Bird for CAS Christmas

Hello friends.  I'm so glad you stopped by.

I have another card for CAS Christmas

This time it's a little bird but I think he makes a big impact.

A short time ago a friend came over to play with some salt and watercolor.

She'd never tried the technique and it was fun for both of us to watch how
the salt changed our watercolor as it dried.

I used some pieces for a card for my class.

Here's that card.  Another bird.

I had some extra card sets and I wanted to change them up a bit.

You'll be seeing more salted pieces and this layout in the future.

The CAS Christmas challenge ends Midnight tonight (PDT) on the 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

A Christmas Cardinal for CAS Christmas

Hello friends.  Welcome to my blog.

This is a reminder that there's still time to join in at
CAS Christmas

Susan is hosting our challenge this month.

We did a similar card in my class last month and I had a leftover set.

I stamped the bird with Archival ink on a snippet of watercolor paper and
colored him up with Zig Markers and a water brush, then fussy cut him.

By masking the edges of the die cut square, I could stamp the pine boughs
and keep a nice frame.  The branches were traced with a watercolor pencil.

The background got some subtle texture and stamped sentiment.

The Design Team and our Guest Designer, Sue have some
awesome inspiration cards.  And the gallery hold a bevy of beautiful birds.

I hope you'll check us out and add your Christmas bird at
CAS Christmas

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

From Calendar to Card

Hello friends.

I have been posting the pages from my handmade calendars.

This card comes from last December's page.

I thought it would be good to get the page out of my UFO box.

The design image was stamped and the ornament was
die cut from red Glimmer Paper.

I added a frame that was embossed with a Texture Plate from PTI.

I also added some Nuvo Crystal drops over the stamped berries for added
dimension and texture.

I'll join in at Rudolph Days where as long as it's Christmas, anything goes.
Thanks so much to Scrappy Mo for holding this challenge every month.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Watercolor Wreath for CAS Christmas

Hello friends.  Welcome!

I'm here today to remind you that there is a little over a week
to join in at CAS Christmas.

When my friend Nance (Soul Stampin') came a week or so ago, she brought
her Catherine Pooler wreath die for me to use.

I die cut some from watercolor paper and had such fun coloring it
with Zigs and a water brush.

I had three cut and decided to stack them all together for added dimension.

The joy is from the same die set.  I wanted it red so I smacked it with VersaMark
and used some red embossing powder I'd bought for doing
the Encrusted Jewel technique.

I thought it turned out quite festive and is still flat enough to mail
without extra postage.

Nance is our host at
CAS Christmas this month.

The Design Team along with our fabulous Guest Designer, Birgit
have wonderful inspirational wreaths to show you.  And there's a gallery
full of beautiful wreaths!

Hope you'll join us!
Challenge is open until the 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!
