By Your Side for CAS Mix Up

It's time for a new challenge at

Our challenge this month is

Let me tell you a tale of spraying.

I had 6 bottles of Distress Spray Wash that a friend had given me.
I tried it several months ago and found it to be very intense color.
So I decided that I would dilute it and see if I liked it better.
When I got to the color STREAM (my favorite of the lot), I could see that it
had separated and the spray was clogged.  I worked and worked to clean out the sprayer
to no avail.  So I dumped a color that I didn't like. (It's non-toxic so I hope it was OK to dump it down the drain.) I washed and washed and washed the bottle and sprayer
and finally had it clean enough to put the diluted STREAM into it.
I excitedly pulled out some paper and began to spray.  Evidently the bottle can read and it decided to STREAM instead of spray!  Believe me there was a STREAM of choice words floating around!  Fortunately there was some splatter and excess spray from the STREAM on the pieces I had laying off to the side.  I cut these birds out of that renegade splatter
and threw the STREAM and rest of the washes away!

I'm still cleaning up the splatter and spray left over from that!!!

Lesson to self.  When you spray get a big box to contain it and go outside to do the deed.

At least I got some pretty birds out of it.

I put them over a UFO of Brusho.  I thought they looked quite content sitting in the sun.

I hope to see what you can do with sprays.
I hope your experience is better than mine.

My Design Teammates and our Guest Designer (Joanna)
have some fantastic inspiration pieces to show you.
Check it out at

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

What an experience you had!! ... but at least you got these two beautiful sprayed birds. And you are right, the birds look so happy being together and enjoying the beautiful sunshine streaming through the background. Oops ... I guess streaming ... and any form of that word, is probably a bad word in your household. :) Hopefully you have better luck next time. I'm blaming the spray bottles. There are good ones and then there are bad ones. Hopefully the next experience you have includes a good sprayer! :) xx

Your "stream" story made me laugh! I've had similar bad experiences with sprays! But I'm glad you got those lovely birds out of them. And sitting them in front of the sunny splotch of yellow is perfect - perfect for the "happy everything" sentiment as the image just looks so happy and content.

Yes sprays can do that sometimes, very unpredictable but fun!! Fabulous card and the colours are gorgeous and love the yellow on the background xLooking forward to playing along this month x

Those birds are soooo artsy, love the effect of all that trouble 😜 Inky fingers to inky household LOL
You must be proud of the results after all that "learning experience ". Beautiful, LOVE IT!

Yes Bonnie, I think most of us can empathise with the experience of renegade spray bottles! I used to buy them as cheaply as I could find, but soon learned that not all spray bottles are born equal! Now I only buy Ranger Mini Misters as I haven't had one that has seized on me yet (touch wood). LOVE your sweet little birds and that bright sunshine behind them, no wonder they look happy! Off to get my sprays out now! Have a wonderful week! Hazel xx

Your little story made me chuckle - and sympathize! Spray bottles usually clog up on me and nothing can fix it! So we'll see if I can participate in this month's challenge...

I did have such a giggle at your spray experience Bonnie. But my word, what a fabulous outcome. The wee birds are so sweet. They look as though they are chatting in the sun.

PS. I meant to say, I love your coloured header under Stamping With Klass.
I feel it's new, or I am very unobservant!!

Oh Bonnie, I am glad I am not the only one who has unintended adventures with sprays... but I do love your results with those gorgeous birds on a branch

This card is well worth all the trouble! Glad you didn't get any of that spray on your clothes. Thanks for the warning. I'm going to try some spraying later--I think I'll wear an apron lol...

What a time you had with those sprays. Glad you salvaged this piece to make those cute birds.
Have a great day.

Bonnie, these two little guys look so happy sitting there! Wonderful card. I got SUCH a kick out of your description! I agree, spraying is my nemesis! It spits, sputters, clogs and I swear the sprayer has a life span of about 4 seconds before it doesn't work! SO funny! Thanks for the morning giggles. You know, it's only funny when it happens to someone else. Not so funny when it happens here!

That is a spray play day you won't forget! Love how you saved the day with your stray pieces for your cute birds :-) They look very happy soaking up the sun. TFS Bonnie. Hugs, Nancy

I'm not a fan of sprays (or mess) at all. It seems whenever I go to use them, they are clogged up. I won't be buying anymore than the ones I have now. I always go outside to spray them.

This is a fabulous card no matter how it came into being.

I feel so badly that you had such a hard time with your spray bottles, but I have to say, your birds are GORGEOUS, Bonnie! I love how you created so much texture and rich color, and your sunny yellow background is the perfect touch! Such a beautiful sentiment, too...I really love this card!

With all that happened with the sprays, you sure got a beautiful card from it Bonnie! I love those birds and love the way the spray sprayed on them. Your watercolored sun is awesome! Love, love, love this card! I would think sprays are like egg dye at Easter and it should have been just fine to dump them down the drain, they were non toxic. That's my thoughts on that! lol I have some sprays I've never used yet (yes more NBUS), want to play along if time will allow me to. Hugs, Brenda

Sounds like you had fun but you got a great card out of it. I hope your hands have returned to a normal colour. :)

A beautiful card and I love the sweet little birds. I recently sprayed a mister onto card without moving my distance glasses first. Several weeks later I'm still trying to get rid of tiny orange spots from my lenses! Barbxx

Oh you made me laugh, Bonnie! Sprays are kind of frightening--probably why I end up mostly using Shimmer Spritz & Perfect Pearls--the no color one! Lately I figured out I can use my old fashioned laundry tub that has some stains anyway & it's really deep.
