Fun with Bleach

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Today I'm sharing a card that was made from
techniques at our retreat. This is a card using Susan's bleach technique.

The retreat was long ago and I'm still trying to get cards made
from things we did and get them posted. This one is long overdue.

She gave us each a little dish with a bit of bleach in it and a cheap
paintbrush that we could just use for bleach.  It worked seamlessly.
I might add that it was splashless bleach.  A warning though. You still need to
be careful using it and old clothes are suggested.  Just in case.

We used our new blending brushes (thank you, Trina) to blend
Distress Oxide ink on cardstock.  I dabbed a bit with a baby wipe
because I like the bit of texture it adds.

When the ink was dry (make sure it's dry) we stamped an outline stamp
with Archival ink.  Then we set about removing the color from the
inside of the image with a little bleach on our brush, blotting often with a
paper towel.

I love this stamp but can't decide if it's an iris or a lily?

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Summer Glow (PB), Deepest Sympathy (HA)
Ink:   Archival Jet Black, Whisper White
Paper:   Neenah, Basic Black

I adore that green background Bonnie and the bleached flower stands out so well over the top, and love just that bit of yellow on ech of the petals. I think it is probably a lily because I'm not sure that an Iris has so many petals, but the shape of the petals is more like an Iris...oh well, the juries out as they say...lol. x

Gorgeous Bonnie, your bleach lift really pulled out the colour and I love that touch of yellow at the centre of the flowers :)

Like the look of this card! Particularly the pretty colors in the background softened and textured with the baby wipe. Plus the clear embellishments. All such good background touches to set off this pretty stamp with interesting bleach technique.

beautiful card bonnie. I love your background and how it sets off your stamped lily/iris? (not sure either) so well in the striking white.

This is so pretty and I do love that background. I'm not sure, either, what flower that is. It could be either one.

I'm thinking Iris, and a beauty at that, Bonnie! This technique intrigues me... can't imagine how that bleach doesn't eventually eat the paper as it does fabric! Amazing!

I think iris because of the ruffles around the pretty flower petals. So beautiful with the bleaching and added bit of yellow. I love your sponged background and sentiment too. I am already getting excited about our next retreat:-) I can't wait to see you again, my friend. Love and Hugs..Nancy

Lovely card and nice to see bleaching technique again! Flowers certainly look my iris's, so that's what I'm going with!

What a gorgeous card Bonnie! I love your background but it is the flowers that steal the show. I love how you bleached them out and added just a tad bit of color to them. They look like iris's to me, but they could pass for lilies too. lol But I'm going for iris's because that is what it looks like to me. Hugs, Brenda

What a fabulous card Bonnie - love how completely the bleach has removed the ink. Looking at the stem structure, I think the flowers are lilies :) Just my penny worth, although I must say the flowers themselves look more like irises.

I'm glad to hear it works so well with DOX, Bonnie. I tried bleaching cardstock with varying results. I'm definitely trying this. I think it's an iris since lily petals aren't quite so frilly. At least ones I've seen.

Wow! This is one gorgoeus card Bonnie! I love the bright colour of your background. I can see just a little bit of the texture from the baby wipe - so cool. And your bleached image is perfectly done. That was such a fun technique and I've used it a few times since the retreat. Your irises (I think they are irises) are gorgeous with the bleaching. The white is just perfect against the bright turquoise with touches of yellow. Awesome! xx
