Flora and Fauna for the Birds

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A couple of weeks ago I shared a couple of cards using the Wplus9
Flora and Fauna 3 stamps.  You can see them here and here.

Today I'm sharing the results with the bird from this set.

This was not my first try, but perseverance won out to something usable.

I stamped with Antique Linen Distress ink and started coloring with Zigs.
I was struggling with the colors so I switched to my Altenew watercolors.  I still am
not satisfied with the large flower, but it's as good as it's going to get.

The next card is a CASE of a card by my friend Michele.
You can see it here.  She used Dawn's technique that you can see here.

I've tried this technique before with no success.  Michele suggested the Tim Holtz
mini mister and that did help a lot.

I inked the stamp with Distress Markers and spritzed before pressing onto
watercolor paper.  I used the MISTI so I could get multiple stampings.

Finally,

I tried the spritz technique with this bird and it didn't work.  So I re-inked the stamp with
Distress Markers and smooshed more ink on a palette to pick up and watercolor the image.
Thankfully, I was able to put this back in the MISTI for a re-do!

The flowers with this bird were barely passable and I had the brilliant idea to
add splatters.  Then I realized that snow would not be falling on  blooming cosmos.
So I fussy cut this bird out from the offending flowers and added some snowflakes
leftover from a past project.

That's five cards from this stamp set.
I had so much fun playing with it.
Thanks to Dawn of Wplus9 for restocking this stamp set.
She may need to restock again.

Rose-Breasted Grosbeak Visitor

Blessings continue at the bird feeders.

At dinner  tonight I caught this out of the corner of my eye.

I grabbed the camera and snapped this.

He was on the far side of the feeder and this was as good as I could get.

We got out the bird books and identified it as a Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

I set the camera aside and turned off the light.

Cleaned up the kitchen and peeked out again.

He was perched in the cherry tree checking out the situation.

Then.....

He posed prettily for me...

and decided it was time to eat.

Another first time spotting this kind of bird.

The Indigo Bunting evidently continued his migration
as we haven't seen him again.

I'm sure this guy will be on his way...

I'm so glad you stopped by to share this blessing.

Enjoy!

Indigo Bunting

We were blessed with this little visitor this afternoon.

Isn't he a beauty?

My grandson Luke has said this was his favorite bird since we studied the bird book.

I wish he could have seen him.

At least I got some good pictures of him.

I'd never seen one before and didn't think I ever would.

What a blessing!

Enjoy!

Baby Birds

We had Stamp and Share last Saturday and one of my friends shared this baby bird stamp that she found in the dollar bin.  Aren't they just the sweetest?

I stamped a few with black then thought of the brown and really like it better.  They're stamped on Very Vanilla though it looks like white in this picture.

CAS Colours and Sketches has this sketch this week.  I made it oblong and made my square oblong to match it.

Or vise versa.

Unfortunately the other stamped birds are going to the UFO box for now.

I thought I'd share my box with you.

This is the main one.  I have another that holds the holiday UFOs.

It really isn't as tight as it was at the beginning of the summer but it needs a lot more work.

All Supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Birds (?), Bird on a Branch (retired)
Ink:  Rich Cocoa (Memento), Chocolate Chip
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip
Other:  Square Lattice EF, Hemp Twine (retired)

Thanks for stopping by.  Wish you could have stopped by on Saturday for some stampin and sharin!

Enjoy!
