Indigo Bunting

We were blessed with this little visitor this afternoon.

Isn't he a beauty?

My grandson Luke has said this was his favorite bird since we studied the bird book.

I wish he could have seen him.

At least I got some good pictures of him.

I'd never seen one before and didn't think I ever would.

What a blessing!

Enjoy!

what gorgeous pictures - and a visit is so much better than robins building a nest on my deck every year so i can never use it in the spring - i just might be mean and thwart mama this year - it's my turn for the deck!!

What a pleasant surprise and a beautiful sighting for you! I love to see colorful birds, but we only have a few that flock to our area in NE Montana. We look forward to the pretty little, yellow goldfinches to return every spring. If we're lucky we might get to see a Bluebird, Bluejay or Cedar Waxwing migrate through.
Thanks for sharing the your picture of this fun little visitor.

Great photos Bonnie, we don't have such pretty coloured birds in Australia, they are more natural tones to blend in with the bush.

He is a beauty thanks for sharing Bonnie. I think one could color a bird any color and there would be one somewhere.

What a gorgeous colour bird Bonnie and you must have been thrilled to see it on your feeder. The nearest we would get to that is a Kingfisher which would probably be a once in a lifetime sighting as even when walking by a river you would count yourself very lucky to ever see one. x

This is my favourite bird as well. We seem them every year at Rondeau Provincial Park in Ontario and a few times at Point Pelee National Park which is famous for birders - which we are! Lovely photos.
