Turning the Page July 2022

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our July page using Blossom Branch by Penny Black.

By the way, the calendars are 4 ½ inches by 7 inches.

They can be clipped together and can be displayed on an easel or hung

on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.

and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Enjoy!

Four for Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I don't usually post so many cards at one time, but challenges are closing soon
and now that the year is half over (gasp), I need to build up that
Christmas stash.

First up for Christmas Kickstart #63 - Pawfectly Pawsome

I've colored with Copics and added some stenciled some snowflakes
in the background.  The trio is framed with a die cut.

Next in line is for Jingle Belles - The Man with the Bag.

I used a NBUS Santa stamp for this one.  He's also colored with Copics.
The frame was sitting on my table and I ran a red Sharpie around the opening.
To get the little candy canes going in both directions, I stamped on a piece of acetate
and pressed a snippet of cardstock over it.  It didn't stamp well but was easy to color in
with an Ultra Thin Sharpie and fussy cut.

For Peace on Earth #18 - ATG Christmas/Mood Board below,
Snowy is wearing a paper pieced scarf and cap.  The embossed vellum was in my
Christmas UFO box.  Snowy was colored with Copics and die cut before being
tucked into some torn snowdrifts.

Finally, for Rudolph Days - ATG Christmas
is a remake of a past Christmas card that I'd disassembled because I wasn't
happy with it.  I popped it on another embossed piece from my UFO box
and stamped a sentiment.  I like this much better than before.

If you have stuck with me through all this, thank you.

On the Beach

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Summer has certainly arrived in North Carolina and I'd love to be
sitting near the water.

This would be a better view!

As you know, I've been cleaning out my UFO (UnFinished Objects) box.  I'm
almost finished.  Whew, it was pretty full.  Some of the fullness was because of my
calendars.  I can't bear to throw out the pages when the month is done.  So I throw it in
the UFO box and worry about it later.

This image was from June of 2020

When I saw the challenge at Double D and that row of colorful beach chairs,
I had an aha moment with this image.

All I had to do was color the chairs with colored pencils and pop it in a
die cut frame.

I left off the sentiment until I need it.

Thanks Double D for helping me place this UFO.

Challenges:
Double D - Beach Time

Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Caran d'ache Supracolor Pencils (Raspberry Red, Yellow, Golden Ochre, Turquoise, Beige, Warm Gray, Gray, Sky Blue, Greenish Blue, Scarlet, Black)

Feathered Lilies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have been enjoying this Feathered Lilies kit the last couple of weeks and I've used
all the components of this kit.  This time I stamped it on Neenah Solar White with
Copic friendly ink and colored with Copic Markers.

After it was colored I used the die to cut it out and tucked it into the
embossing folder to add texture.

I used a NBUS stencil on the background and even was brave enough
to add some black splatters.

Challenges:
Four Seasons - ATG Summer

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Feathered Lilies (Alt)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Antique Linen (DI)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Copic Markers (G14, G17, RV52, RV55, R35, Y18), Feathered Lilies Die & EF (Alt), Wavy Grid Stencil (Alt)

Thinking of You

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A while back my friend Nance invited me to her house to play with paper glaze.
It's like a pearlescent embossing paste and comes in different colors.  It's so creamy
and goes through a stencil like a dream!

I used Snowdrop White through this leaf stencil.  Long after it had dried, I
lightly sponged some color around it.

I found this piece of alcohol ink in my stash and used that to color this bird.
I love how the design of the ink looks like a wing!

A Twist of Bird

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've taken advantage of a challenge to make a card for my
dear sister-in-law's birthday.  She loves cardinals.

It's actually a CASE of this card by Debbie Hughes at Lime Doodle Design.

I've used a 3D embossing folder and wiped the inside with a baby wipe
before running through my Big Shot with Bristol paper to get a deep impression.

When it was totally dry, I added a bit of color to the background and set it aside.

I stamped and die cut the cardinal, branch and birdhouse from
watercolor paper and colored with Distress inks and markers.

Lots of dimensionals were used to put this together so it has
lots of dimension.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - ATG with embossing folder/option of bird
Simon Says - Add a sentiment

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Spring Birds (SSS), Easy Expressions Original (Ton)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black, Pumice Stone, Antique Linen for stamping, Candied Apple, Fired Brick, Vintage Photo, Brushed Corduroy Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss, Pine Needles, Broken China (DI & DM), Black Marker (SU)
Paper:   Bristol (?), Watercolor (Arches CP), Bashful Blue
Other:  Layered Leaves 3D EF (ret. SU), Spring Birds Dies (SSS)

Up, Up and Away

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm Guest Designing again at Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

This challenge is always Anything Goes using Penny Black items with an
optional theme.  This month's theme is TRANSPORT.

This sweet kitty is being transported through the sky with a balloon bouquet.
See her waving? The stamp gives her an expression of surprise.
I turned it into a smile because it looks like fun.

I've stamped her with Memento ink and used my Zigs to
color the image.

I'll send it to my friend that moved to Denver recently.

And then I found this Party Cat & mouse in my UFO box all colored
and ready to go.

The little mouse is on a wobbler on his way to deliver a cash gift.  :-)

I hope to see you in the gallery at

Cleaning out the UFOs

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been busy as a bee in the studio.
Last weekend I was looking for a die cut that I did when Bobby was here.

I looked in my UFO (UnFinished Objects) box.  What a mess!
No die cut (not that one anyway), but a whole lot else!

I should have taken a picture before I relocated things.
Some went in the cases with the stamps, some went in the trash,
some went into the holiday UFO boxes, and the rest are in the process
of being used on cards.

I didn't find that die cut though.

I must have put it in a VERY safe place!

I'll be sharing some of the cards that came from these bits and pieces.
I've done a lot but here are the first two.

The shaker pouch and frame were in the box.  The butterfly (a perfect color match)
was tucked in the envelope with the die.  Two UFOs used for this one.

The background for this card was done with rubber bands.  I had done an
extra when I did this card.  I had stamped with VersaMark and used gold embossing
powder to heat set.  I added some splatters to the design with a retired stamp
by stamping with VersaMark and heat embossing with blue embossing powder.

The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed with a sparkly gold
embossing powder.  Another butterfly from the stash in the envelope perched
on top.

Both butterflies are cut from foil.

Challenges:
Memory Box - Metallic Mania

As best I can remember....

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Special Sentiments (PB), Gorgeous Grunge (ret. SU)
Ink:   VersaMark

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:
Ink:

Glass Bead Garden for CAS Mix Up

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

There's still time to use your embossing pastes or gels
and join in at CAS Mix Up.

I've used glass bead gel again...

I used a Tim Holtz stencil and Distress Ink to add color to a piece of Neenah cardstock.
I cleaned the stencil and placed it back over the image and added some
Glass Bead Gel through the stencil with a palette knife.  The gel is clear and the
colors show through beautifully.
(It is important to wash the stencil immediately
after using the gel!)

I learned not to try to cut through the dried image with my Cutterpillar.
The gel stuck to the rotary blade and I had to get it off and clean it.
So a word to the wise, cut your piece before you add the gel!

Our Design Team has created some beautiful cards with pastes and gels
using a variety of techniques.  Do check them out and I hope you'll
join the fun at CAS Mix Up!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Special Sentiments (PB)
Ink:   Peeled Paint, Worn Lipstick (DI), Versafine Onyx Blac,
Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Wildflower Stencil (TH), Glass Bead Gel (Golden)

Enjoy!
