Turning the Page December 2018

Tomorrow we turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year and I've been sporadic about sharing them with you so
I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month "Turning the Page".

I hope you enjoy these posts.

Here's our December page.

By the way, the calendars are clipped together and can be displayed on an easel
or hung on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

Happy December and Merry Christmas!

I hope you have enjoyed these calendar pages.

Time to do 2019!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Boughs of Holly

Hello friends.

I've been putting some watercolor holly on cards.

A super simple and favorite CAS layout.

The first card has an white embossed strip and some peeks of
dark green for contrast.

On the second card, I've embossed some gold foil and added a
gold embossed sentiment.

I'll take them over to Crafty Mo's Rudolph Challenge.
I believe I've entered this challenge every month this year.
One good reason why I have plenty of Christmas cards in my stash!
Thanks, Mo!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Blooming Wreath for Twofer

Hello and welcome.

I'm scooting in at the last minute with my Twofer cards.

Not the best photos. I don't think the camera knew quite where to focus!

I used a NBUS stamp and die from Memory Box.

First up is a Thanksgiving card.  Thanksgiving is over, but my thankfulness continues.

And I have a head start on next year!

I've inked the stamp with Distress Markers and pulled the colors with my water brush.

I swiped color on my palette and picked it up with the brush to add color
until I was happy with the look.

I've added the wreath to a piece of embossing.
It's a CASE of this card my friend Trina did.

For this card I've stamped and embossed the wreath and sentiment
on a piece of Black Textured cardstock.

It seemed a good home for some of my stash of colored stones.

I'll have to hand deliver this card!

You still have a few hours to join in at
You have to look really hard to see the embossed woodgrain behind the wreath.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Another Amaryllis

Hello friends.  I'm so glad you stopped by.

I am really enjoying this Technique Tuesday stamp!
(First I used it here.)

This time I colored the flowers in red.  I had just received a
Candied Apple Distress Marker and it was perfect for getting a good
rich, red color.

I placed the stamp in my MISTI and inked the flower with Distress Markers
and used a damp water brush to move the ink.

After it dried, I layered colors directly with markers and water brush.

The wash was done by pulling colors from the flowers
to the surrounding areas.

I used a sentiment from the same set.

I had some narrow glitter frames left from my last class and
used one to add a little sparkle to this card.

It celebrates a special day for a very special person.

Fun Snowflakes Tag

Hi.  I'm back with another tag for
Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas

I had some fun with this one!

My mixed media are stamping, Copic coloring, and stenciling with shimmer paste

This is a borrowed stamp that I enjoyed coloring with Copic Makers.
The stamp is called Snowflakes.

After I cut it down, I used some shimmer paste through a stencil to make some snow.

It's layered up on green and red cardstock .

I should have used some glaze on the glasses but it's not too late.

Santa's List

Hello.  We're over halfway through our CAS Christmas Challenge.

This month our talented Christine is hosting our challenge...

I've use a Santa from this fun set by Birdie Brown.

I love these Santas and they are such fun to color.

I've used some embossing paste through a stencil to look
like writing on the note paper.

The little presents from the set came in handy to hide an oops
from some wandering sparkle paste.  It looked good on Santa's beard
but not so good on the red card base.

The red card base by the way is my "white space".

The Design Team, along with our Guest Designer, Pam, have some
fun inspirational pieces to share with you.

I hope you'll check them out and join the fun!

While I was at it, I decided to put one of these Santas on a tag for

My mixed media are Stamping, Copic Coloring, Dry Embossing and Die Cutting.

Amaryllis for CAS Watercolour

Hello friends.  Today I have another card for
CAS Watercolour

Susan is hosting this month's challenge

I had such fun coloring this beautiful flower!

I inked this NBUS Technique Tuesday Amaryllis stamp with markers and
pulled the color into the petals and leaves with a damp water brush.

By using my MISTI, I could stamp again if I needed to to get
lines back.

I did remember to color alternating petals so the color wouldn't
just run together.

After it was all colored, I pulled some color from the image to
make a soft wash around the flower.

I want to do this flower again.

The Design Team along with our Guest Designer, Maura
have some beautiful Christmas Florals and/or Greenery to share with you.
Hope you check them out.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Emboss, Emboss for CAS Mix Up Reminder

We're halfway through the month and it's time for
more inspiration for CAS Mix Up.

I'm hosting the challenge this month and I chose

I've used my NBUS Tim Holtz Tall Pines Embossing Folder.

First I embossed a piece of Mixed Media paper.

I swiped Distress Ink and Markers on my palette and picked up
color with a damp water brush to watercolor the trees using
mainly Iced Spruce and Pine Needles ink.

Then I inked the raised area on the embossing folder, spritzed with water
and used it as a stamp to get some watery pine trees beside
the embossed ones.

When it was all dry, I used wet on wet watercolor to add
some color to the background.

It's hard to see but I used some second and third generation stamping
between the bases of the trees for shubbery.

I tore a snippet of white cardstock for a snow bank and
stamped with the Iced Spruce I used for the trees.

The stately deer was cut from Crumb Cake cardstock and
stamped with a background stamp in the same color.

There's so many ways to use Embossing Folders.

I hope you'll use one and share your card with us at

The challenge is open until November 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Tall Pine Trees Tag

Hi, I'm back with another tag for
Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas

My mixed media are stamping, heat embossing, alcohol ink and die cuts.

I pulled out a piece I'd done with alcohol inks.  I believe is was greens
and silver mixative.  I didn't make note of it.

I used some snippets of Glimmer paper and die cut these Tall Pine Trees.

The tag die was one of the things I picked up at Catherine Pooler's
recent Trunk Show in Raleigh.  I love the shape and of course had to
have it despite vowing I wouldn't buy much.  Ha!

Enameled Ornament Tag

Hello again.  I'm back with another tag for
Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas

Making tags gives me the opportunity to use some of those
bits and pieces that have been adding up all year.

My Mixed Media are faux enamel, die cuts, embossing, stamping and spraying.
(Actually the background is from over spray.)

I apologize for the blur.  My camera does not like shine!

The ornament is one I did using the Faux Enamel technique.
You can read about this technique here and here and here.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!
