Fall Blessings

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm really rushing to get this one in to the Spellbinders Club Inspiration.

My goal is to use the 3D embossing folder from the club before this
linky goes to bed.  It was really close this time!

I've stamped the larger pumpkin twice with Tangerine ink on a die cut arched piece.
I did some messy sponging around the edges and then used two of the dies to
cut a frame to cover some of that up.

I stamped the smaller pumpkin with Sahara Sand ink on a scrap of Natural Cardstock
and colored in that pretty flower with colored pencils.

I added a sentiment then put it on a piece embossed with this month's
Mushroom Harvest 3D Embossing Folder.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Charming Pumpkins (Spl)
Ink:   Tangerine Tango, Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip (SU), Brushed Corduroy (DOX)
Paper:   Neenah Natural, Warm Cocoa (GKD)
Other:  Essential Arches Dies (Spl), Mushroom Harvest 3D EF, Caran d'ache Supracolor Pencils

Enjoy!

Variation

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I struggled with the GO7 technique for September.  I seem to have a block when it
comes to putting ink on my embossing folders.  Especially permanent black ink!

I loved the look of the technique though and thought there must be an easier way.
For me at least.

I did the first part of the technique using re-inkers on wet mixed media paper, spritzing
and letting the colors blend.  (Sorry I didn't take a picture of it before I cut into it.)

I die cut this branch twice from the inked and completely dry piece and
glued them on black cardstock that had been embossed with the branch die.

So much easier and no clean up involved.

I liked it so much that I did another....

This time I used the flower die to emboss the background and used an embossing
pen to add gold embossing powder randomly.  My gold "splatters" were punched
with 1/16" and a 1/8" circle punches from gold cardstock.  I am loving this way of
splattering. So much more control!

Challenges:
Krafty Chicks #683 - Thanksgiving (card 1)
Tic Tac Toe #228 - Using bottom left to top right-Black, Orange, Purple (card 1)
Try it on Tuesday - Going Round in Circles (card 2-Circles on flower and background)

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Mixed Media (Strathmore 400 series), Black, Tangerine Tango, Gold Foil
Other:  SU Re-inkers (Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Tangerine), Privet Branch Die (SSS), Words of Gratitude Die (PB), Circle Punches (1/8", 1/16")

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:  Mixed Media (Strathmore 400 Series), Black, Gold Foil
Other:  DI Re-inkers (Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Fossilized Amber), Wild Flower Stems #2 Die (TH), Side Drifting Butterfly (MB), Circle Punches (1/8", 1/16")

Enjoy!

Dry Embossing with Re-inker with GO7

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time to share what the Group of Seven Cardmakers has been up to this month.

This time we followed this video by Devid Roodinburg.

Devid did a background using water and re-inkers.  I was lazy and pulled a background
colored with Brushos that was very bright.

Then we inked the flat side of an embossing folder with pigment ink.

This is where I had a problem.  I was skeptical of putting ink on my embossing folder;
especially black ink!  But I gave it a try.  The video suggested Versafine Clair ink.  I don't
have that in black so I used my Versafine Onyx black, put my colored background in, and
ran it through.  I didn't have good coverage on the paper so I inked and ran it through again.

I may not have got it lined up perfectly because it looked a little off when I
took it out.  The background was still splotchy too.

Then I cleaned the folder with hand sanitizer.

Then I cleaned with 91% alcohol.

And again with the alcohol.

Then gave it a good soak in soapy water.

I'm glad I didn't use my favorite embossing folder because it still has a grayish
cast to it that transfers to white cardstock.

Devid added a step of swiping with VersaMark and adding some gold embossing powder.
Since I wasn't crazy about my results I figured I'd give it a go.
I do like it better now.  And I used a black Sharpie around the flowers to
get rid of the splotchiness in the background.

I tried it again and took a photo before I added gold embossing powder.

I didn't like how some of the leaves are black but I think that's more due to
the embossing folder.

I made a card from it, but I'm not at all happy with it, but I thought I'd
share it anyway.

The rest of the Group of Seven Cardmakers had fantastic results.  Do go and see
what they did and what worked for them.  They had much better luck than I did!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sketched Flowers (SSS)
Ink:   Encore Gold
Paper:   Mixed Media, Black, Gold Foil, Vellum
Other:  Scalloped Flowers 3D EF (Alt), Layered Leaves 3D EF (SU), Gold EP, Privet Branch Die (SSS)

Fall Mums

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Fall is in the air.  It's time to spot the chrysanthemums in the stores and on
front porches.

No live mums at my house, but I did put some on a card.

I have been saving this NBUS stamp for fall and finally got a chance to use it.

I've stamped with pigment ink and heat embossed then used Distress Markers and
a waterbrush to color.  A few splatters and a sentiment finished it off.

Red and Purple

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Color Hues is having a special challenge this time in honor of their friend Lindsey who
lost her battle with ovarian cancer last year.  Lindsey's favorite colors were red and purple
so they are colors Color Hues are calling for.

I used a NBUS leaf stamp from Altenew, stamped on hot press watercolor paper.  A damp
waterbrush smoothed out the color.  Then I lightly spritzed the stamp and stamped
again a little above and to the side of the original stamping.  The left over ink was
just enough to add a shadow.

The birdhouse was cut from a tiny piece of purple cardstock.  I inked the edges and circle
with matching ink to add some depth.

I added a foil leaf and some chunky embossing to tie in with the embossed sentiment.

You can see the shine better here...

I didn't know Lindsey but I wish I had.
Her friends have so many nice things to say about her.

Challenges:
Color Hues #72 - Purple and Red
NBUS #54 - Never Before Used Schtuff (Leaves stamp)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Leaf Clusters (Alt), Take Care (ret SU)
Ink:   Lumberjack Plaid (DOX), Gorgeous Grape (SU), Encore Gold
Paper:   Watercolor (Arches HP), Neenah Natural, Gorgeous Grape, Foil
Other:  Bitty Birdhouse Die (SSS), Stitched Rectangle Die (SSS), Chunky Metallic Seasonings EP (Stampendous), Gold EP, Leaf Die (?)

Enjoy!

Orange for Memory Box

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I am enjoying these fall colors.  No color in the leaves here, but lots
on my cards.

These pretty magnolias are masquerading as garden flowers today.

I've cut them from a background piece in my box that was done with Color Burst powders.

After I die cut the flowers I sponged the edges with Tangerine ink.

The Butterfly was cut from another piece in the background box that had been
smooshed with yellows.  I die cut the outline piece from a Snippet of black.

I didn't add a sentiment because I'm not sure what occasion it will go for.

Challenges:
Triple B - Inspired by Butterfly

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Rhododendron (Technique Tuesday)
Ink:  Tangerine Tango
Paper:   Watercolor (Strathmore), Bristol (Strathmore), Neenah Natural, Tangerine Tango
Other:  Magnolia Blossom Trio Die (MB), Drifting Side Butterfly Dies (MB), Elongated Dotted Hexagons Die (Studio Katia)

Brilliant Coneflower Bloom

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have a new embossing folder and die combo that I am loving!

I love coneflowers and yellow so it was easy and fun to put them together.

What I love the most of these die and embossing folder combos is the
wonderful texture you can get on the die cut.

I die cut the flower head twice from mixed media paper and used a blending brush to
add color to the flowers with some Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated ink
.  I touched the color with a damp waterbrush to blend a bit.

When everything was dry, I used a thumb dauber to add some brown to the raised
bits of the flower center.

You can emboss the die cut before coloring but I didn't this time and after it
was colored and dry, I placed the flowers in the embossing folder to get the details.

It doesn't come with a stem die, so I used the stem from the Alstroemeria set.
Then I layered two flowers over the stem using a few dimensionals under the top flower.

All was placed on top of my favorite embossed background.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - Use an embossing folder (no twist this time)
NBUS #54 - Never Before Used Schtuff
Simon Says Monday - What's Your Favorite Color (yellow)

I've got a couple more hummingbird cards to share.

different flowers.

For this card I die cut 2 lily blooms shaped one and added on top with dimensional.
I added a leafy branch and another wildflower.

Halloween

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I was never much for Halloween, but it's Jack's favorite holiday (I think mostly
because he gets lots of candy).  Needless to say, his excitement is contagious and we're
already talking about it.

The Color Hues colors were perfect for this new witch's hat die that found it's way
to me.  I was a bit disappointed the it's all on one die.  I had in mind to cut the extra
strip of the hat and the ribbon on the brim in a different color.

It was simple enough to cut the whole thing from two different sheets of glitter paper,
It works well for my Halloween stash, but sadly that won't work for a class.

It did give me a twofer though.  One scary one and another more generic.

Challenges:
Color Hues #71 - Tangerine & Violet
Two Old Bats Halloween - Anything Halloween
NBUS #54 - Never Before Used Schtuff (Witch's Hat)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Hocus Pocus (Whippersnapper)
Ink:   Encore Gold
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Black, Tangerine Tango, Black Glitter (SU), Purple Glitter (MB)
Other:  Spider Web EF (ret SU), Vine Canopy EF (SSS), Large Witch Hat (MB), Jack-o lantern Die (HA), Dangling Spider Die (ret MB), Gold EP

Enjoy!
