Flower Garden Fancy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I had a few minutes to try out a new coverplate die that I got for Christmas.

It cut really well and it makes for a quick card.

Narelle's sketch was still fresh in my mind from the last Freshly Made Sketches
and it worked beautifully to let this die cut show through.

I found this butterfly already cut out and ready to find a place to perch.
It was cut from a piece of smooshed background.

A couple of label die cuts, a quick stamping and some glue and
it was done.

Challenges:
Just Us Girls #804 - Die Week-Use a coverplate die
NBUS #82 - Never Before Used Schtuff
Triple B - Birds, Butterflies & Blooms - Butterfly (I didn't go by the photo, but isn't it pretty?)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Bouquet of Thanks (MFT)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:  Soft Seafoam, Neenah Solar White, Watercolor
Other:  Flower Garden Fancy Coverplate Die (HA), Stitched Butterfly Trio (PS), Decorative Sentiment Dies (EMD-Emily Moore Designs)

Enjoy!

Butterfly Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I got another card done over the weekend.  I'm hoping to get it into
a challenge before it closes.

I found an alcohol inked piece of vellum in my stash and used it with my
Stitched Butterfly.  I also cut a plain piece of vellum to put underneath to five
this butterfly a little more body.

The square piece that the butterfly is perched on was a leftover from watercoloring
a leaf branch.

It's all added to a card base made of Tim Holtz watercolor paper.

The stitches didn't show up well so I used a white gel pen over them to make
them stand out.

Challenges:
Just Us Girls #767 - Mood Board below. I was inspired by the green butterfly
Seize the Birthday #301 - Anything That Flies

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Fun Birthday Sentiments (HLS-OOB)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Watercolor (TH), Neenah Solar White, Vellum
Other:  Alcohol Inks (Ranger), Stitched Squares die (SSS), Stitched Butterfly Trio (ret PS), White Gel Pen

Potpourri Flowers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We took a short trip to visit family and I'm slow getting back into the studio.
I actually started this card before we left and I've finally finished it.

I love the colors at The Flower Challenge this month and the die with all these flowers
has been languishing in the NBUS box for way too long.  Using all these colors made coloring
all the flowers fun.

The flowers were cut from mixed media paper and some from Neenah Solar White.
I think I used a combination of ink blending and water to color them.

The frame is new and came just before we left.  I've cut it twice and stacked, then
mounted it with dimensional strips.

Challenges:
The Flower Challenge #94 - Be Inspired by the Colors (below)
NBUS #65 - Never Before Used Schtuff (Flowers, Leaves & Frame)

I'll leave you with a photo of all the gang we got to spend the day with and
the beautiful scenery.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Special Sentiments (PB)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Daffodil Delight (SU), Sage, Eucalyptus (PFS)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Mixed Media (Strathmore), Pink Pirouette
Other:  Potpourri Flower Set (PS), Leaf Flourish (SSS), Notched Corner Frames (PFS), Sparkling Diamonds Cover Plate (PFS)

Enjoy!

Autumn Leaves for JUGS

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm here with Just Us Girls again.
I am really enjoying guesting with this team!

This week we have a photo to be inspired by.

The leaves are beginning to show some color here.  I haven't seen anything as bright
as the leaves on this card yet.  Hopefully we will see some bright colors soon.

I used my favorite background trick and watercolored my die cut leaves on a
piece of Neenah letting the color run off,

When the leaves were dry, I used watercolor pencils to add some details, then
glued on the background leaving some of the leaves loose for dimension.

Adding the die cut sentiment in dark red accented the leaves beautifully, IMO.

I hope you'll hop on over to Just Us Girls and see what they've come up with.
Then come join in at the challenge.

Challenges:

Darling Viola

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I was the lucky winner at Can You Handle the Pressure recently
and put that embossing folder to quick use!

I was able to get two cards out of one embossed panel.

Both cards are very similar and use the sweet Darling Viola die that has
four petals to mimic the embossed flowers.

In both cases I die cut from Mixed Media paper and colored with my
newly discovered Arteza Twimarkers.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - ATG using an embossing folder

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Botanical Silhouettes (PTI)
Ink:   Concord Crush
Paper:   Mixed Media (Strathmore 400 series), Neenah Solar White, Highland Heather
Other:  Floral EF (Park Lane), Darling Viola Die (PS), Arteza Twimarkers (Amethyst Purple, Olive), White Gelliroll Pen), Many Thanks Die (PB)

Sparkling Snowflakes

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have more cards made from projects I did using Vaseline on stamps.

For this technique, we spread a little Vaseline on a lid and picked up some with a piece
of foam to lightly cover the stamp or a stencil.  I used a background snowflake stamp here.

We stamped it down on a piece of Yupo paper then added 91% alcohol or blending
solution on top followed by drops of alcohol ink.  All the alcohol or blending solution
allowed me to use my Tim Holtz puffer to blow the ink around a bit.

When we were happy with the results, we wiped with a soft cloth and it
revealed the stamping.  The Vaseline had acted as a resist.

On this piece the color was so strong that I didn't think the snowflakes showed well.
So I put some alcohol on a paper towel and wiped the surface of the piece thinking
that I could just start over.  The snowflakes resist still showed up and gave me a
perfect background for some sparkly snowflakes.

Challenges:

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Hand Drawn Snowflakes Background (HA)
Ink:   Alcohol Ink (Sailboat, Indigo, Amethyst)
Paper:   Yupo, Neenah Solar White, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer (SU), Silver Foil
Other:  91% Alcohol, Greetings Die (PB), Tis the Season Die (Creative Expressions), Stitched Alpine Snowflakes Dies (PS)

Enjoy!

Snowstorm

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I got started with snowflakes and couldn't stop!
Then I couldn't decide which to share.  So I share them all.

The first two use some of the last bits of Tonic blue foil.

The one above uses some glitter paper found at the Dollar Tree.

The last one has some white ink lightly sponged over the embossed image.
This is a great technique for the 3D Embossing.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - ATG (Didn't use the Pumpkins option)
Winter Wonderland - Let it Snow

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Blue Foil, Glitter Paper ($ Tree), Marina Mist, Silver Foil, Silver Glimmer
Other:  Stitched Alpine Snowflakes Dies (PS), Winter Snowflakes 3D EF (SZX), Snowflake EF (MS), Wonderful Words Die (ret PTI), Special Merry Christmas Die (MB), Fancy Peace Die (Alt.)

Enjoy!

Snowflake Joy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My apologies to those of you who are sick of snow.

I was inspired by this card by Vicky Papaioannou.

I used a 3D embossing folder to emboss the snowflakes on kraft cardstock.
I found that I was way too messy dragging an ink pad over the embossing or even
using a sponge dauber.  So I used a cotton swab dipped in white pigment ink and daubbed
on the raised portions.

I added some die cuts over top and it was done.

Unfortunately it took several tries to get a good photo! Grrr!

Challenges:
Christmas Kickstart - Sentiment Takes Center Stage
Peace on Earth - ATG Christmas
Rudolph Challenge - ATG Christmas
Edited to add:
Can You Handle the Pressure - Anything embossed. (Thanks for the reminder, D & D.)

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:   Whisper White
Paper:   Kraft, Real Red, Neenah Solar White
Other:  Winter Snowflakes EF (SZ), Abundant Joy Die (Greetery), Stitched Alpiine Snowflakes Dies (PS)

Enjoy!

Fall Wreath

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I found this wreath all stamped in my UFO box and I thought it would look good
in Fall colors.

I used my Caran d'ache Supracolor pencils to color and blended very lightly
with a damp waterbrush.

When it was dry, I dry embossed with woodgrain and added a butterfly die cut
from a piece of watercolor background.

The sentiment is heat embossed in gold and a thin gold frame finishes off
the design.

Here's a look at the shine...

Challenges:
Inspired By - Hello Fall (I've kind of combined the regular challenge with the wreath from the Christmas challenge. I hope I'm still within the guidelines.)
Memory Box - Stripes (Woodgrain Stripes)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Watching the World Bloom (MB), Easy Expressions (Original) (The Ton)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, VersaMark
Paper:   Neenah, Gold Foil (SU)
Other:  Stitched Butterfly Trio (PS), Gold EP, Pinewood Planks EF (ret. SU)
