Joy Wreath

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm trying to build my Christmas stash.  I got off to a slow start this year.

For this card, I pulled out an old wreath die that I've had for years and haven't
used enough.  I don't know why because it's fun to color.

After die cutting from Neenah Solar White, I colored with Copics.

It was placed on an embossed background, topped with a red die cut bow, and
finished with a die cut Joy from the same set.

This particular die has been discontinued, but there are lots of other
wreath dies on the market.

Challenges:
Christmas Kickstart #101 -  Let's Wreath it Up
Inkspirational #348 - Clean and Simple
Neglected Stuff - Not used in a long time

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Kraft, Real Red
Other:  Joy Wreath dies (CP), Copics (G43, G12, G29, G46, G99, YG67, E13, R29), Pinewood Planks EF (SU), Whimsy Blooms Bouquet bow (AS)

Enjoy!

Circles and Magnolias

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The Flower Challenge is celebrating their 100th Challenge .
Congratulations ladies! Keep up the good work!

It's taken me a while to get to this and the challenge is about to end.
Time goes by faster and evidently I go slower!

The Tulip Trees or Jane Magnolias are blooming in our area and they inspired
this card.  They are so pretty!  My flowers don't come close to the real thing.

A sweet friend gave me the Bubblin' die for Christmas and it was the perfect
way to add circles with my flowers.  I cut them from white cardstock. I
cut the flowers from watercolor paper and watercolored using Distress re-inkers..

The circles didn't show up as well as I wanted on the white card so I did a bit
of acetate smooshing on another piece of watercolor paper using the same colors
of re-inkers and lots of water.

Challenges:
Four Seasons - Spring
Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. - 4th Monday Anything Goes

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Watercolor (Arches Hot & Cold Press), Natural (ret MFT), Neenah Solar White
Other:  Magnolia Blossom Trio, Magnolia Leaf Branch dies (MB), Distress Re-inkers (Picked Raspberry, Fired Brick, Rustic Wilderness, Mustard Seed, Brushed Corduroy), Bubblin' Die (CP), Acetate, Wonderful Script Die (SB)

Enjoy!

Pink and Silver

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's been a busy month and I was determined to do a card for Color Hues.

Pink and silver reminded me of my granddaughter, Emmy, who has a birthday
coming up.

I got really ambitious and made her a shaker card.
I had the perfect glitter from WOW for the shakers.  It has tiny silver stars mixed
with the silver glitter.

I used patterned paper for the background and after cutting a circle from it,
I embossed it with a NBUS embossing folder.

Some of the shake stars found their way to the center of the embossed flowers.

I also used a NBUS die that a friend had recently gifted me.

I couldn't decide between white or silver for the Happy Birthday circle so I used both
and offset the white so the silver shows a bit.  The angle of the photo doesn't
seem to show that though.

I used layers of die cut circles for depth instead of foam.  The fine shakers
have room to move but hopefully the glitter won't escape.

I didn't photograph the inside but it's a money holder with a pocket to hold
a crisp bill. They always fit.

Challenges:
Color Hues #77 - Pink & Silver
NBUS #57 - Never Before Used Schtuff (Embossing Folder & Die)

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Ink Drops Vivid (Craft Consortium), Neenah Solar White, Silver Foil (SU)
Other:  Criss Cross Motif 3D EF (Spl), Round of Happy Die (CP), WOW Sparkles (Gold Rush), Infinity Circles (HA)

Enjoy!

Squeeze the Day

Hi there.  I'm glad you stopped by!

We are blessed here today.  Hurricane Isaias scooted by our area
without any big problems.  We had a lot of rain but not a lot of wind.

 Some areas weren't as blessed.

Sending prayers for those who are assessing their losses and cleaning up.

Onto today's card.

I used a stamp and die that a dear friend gave me for my birthday.

When I saw this inspiration photo, I new I had to play.

I did some selective stamping and colored the image with Copic markers.

I used another birthday present under the image and embossed subtle
texture to the piece behind in honor of the pillows.

I had a few messy spots and the little bees from Power Poppy worked
perfectly to cover them up.  Some of them anyway...

Wondered how it would look watercolored.

What do you think?

Challenges:
Inspired By Challenge - Inspired by the lemons, colors and texture

Prim Poppies and Gesso for CAS Mix Up

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you are well and feeling crafty.

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Mix Up where our
delightful Linda is hosting this month.

My gesso was kind of thick.  I'm not sure if it's supposed to be that way
or if it's thickened with age?   I used a palette knife to apply the
gesso through a stencil that had been a gift from a sweet friend.

I carefully removed the stencil and set the piece aside to dry while
I washed the stencil.

When the gesso was completely dry, I used a blending brush and some
Peacock Feathers Distress ink over the piece.  The gesso acts as a resist and
the ink rubbed right off the gessoed part but filled in the spaces around perfectly.

I sprayed the gessoed piece with some Shimmering Bliss.
The shimmer is so pretty! Too bad the camera is blind to shimmer.

The poppies were die cut from some Brusho scraps and doubled up
to add some dimension.

My mixed media are Gesso Resist, Stenciling, Die Cutting, Brusho and Stamping.

I know you're going to love what the rest of the Design Team has done as well as
our Guest Designer, Pooja.  If you're unsure how to use gesso, check out the
tutorials on the challenge site.

I hope you'll check us out and join us at

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Christmas Twofer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you could drop by!

It's been a dreary, rainy day here.  A perfect day for crafting.

This month's Twofer Challenge has a twist.
Please note! This month we have a Twist! We are forgoing the "for two different occasions" element of the badge so if you want, you can make two Christmas (or other holiday) cards!

I've taken advantage of the twist and made two different Christmas cards
using the same die.

First up

I loved the colors of the Inspired By Challenge
and used them for the first card.

and then I went more traditional with my twofer.

I used a NBUS die by Catherine Pooler called Joy Wreath
and used my fairly new Arteza TwiMarkers and a waterbrush to color
the die cuts.  It was so much fun!

I used two wreaths for the first card and three layers of the Joy.

For the second card, I used one wreath and cut it in half adding a
fir branch die from another set and the Star on a String.
The outside of the star was cut from a repurposed metallic envelope and
I watercolored the star with the same marker I used on the berries.

I used two more NBUS dies on the second card too and stamps
that hadn't been inked up before.

I'm thinking that with Christmas coming soon, I don't want
Santa to peek in my NBUS pile and think I can't possibly want anything else!
So I'm determined to get that pile down some.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Watercolor Wreath for CAS Christmas

Hello friends.  Welcome!

I'm here today to remind you that there is a little over a week
to join in at CAS Christmas.

When my friend Nance (Soul Stampin') came a week or so ago, she brought
her Catherine Pooler wreath die for me to use.

I die cut some from watercolor paper and had such fun coloring it
with Zigs and a water brush.

I had three cut and decided to stack them all together for added dimension.

The joy is from the same die set.  I wanted it red so I smacked it with VersaMark
and used some red embossing powder I'd bought for doing
the Encrusted Jewel technique.

I thought it turned out quite festive and is still flat enough to mail
without extra postage.

Nance is our host at
CAS Christmas this month.

The Design Team along with our fabulous Guest Designer, Birgit
have wonderful inspirational wreaths to show you.  And there's a gallery
full of beautiful wreaths!

Hope you'll join us!
Challenge is open until the 24th.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!
