Kitty, Kitty

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I saw the mood board at Just Us Girls, I knew it was time for this kitty to
come out to play.

He doesn't look too happy. I think he was surprised to be let out after such a long time.

His scarf and hat were a bit of a challenge.  A tag die worked for his hat and an
arch die was cut apart for his scarf.  The pom-pom was made with a flower die.

I think he's uttering a cynical Fa la la la!

Prayer for Peace

The Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

Tutu Fun

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been having fun with this stamp that I got at the scrapbook show last summer.

First up is a card we did in class last month.
You can't see the sparkle but the Wink of Stella on her tutu has a soft shimmer
and her shoes sparkle with glitter glue.

Here she is again ready to fly.
Inside it says Happy Halloween.

Can you see the magic in her broom?

I'm joining in at the Krafty Chicks Challenge today.
BE-WITCHED

Twofer Critters

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Guess what Darnell's Twofer Challenge is this month.

This fun stamp is from Technique Junkies.  I performed surgery on the stamp to
separate the ostriches and the sentiment. For these cards I didn't use the
sentiment that came with this set.

My Onefer....

For this card I stamped both ostriches on Mixed Media paper with Sahara Sand ink.
I stamped the sentiment, tore the bottom and sponged some ink along the edges.

My Twofer...

I fussy cut on ostrich out for this card and used a piece of
mop up paper towel transfer for the background.

I've cut the arch from a piece of textured paper I found in my stash and
used a larger die to emboss around the die cut.

The witches hat has been stamped, colored and fussy cut.

And a Threefer...

While I was going I fussy cut the other ostrich from the previous card and
jazzed her up with a necklace of rhinestones.

This is actually my favorite of the bunch!

Did you guess what the challenge is this time?

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Doing Splits

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm doing splits today.

Not that kind of splits.  That would hurt!  These were relatively painless and
so much fun doing them at the retreat.

Nancy shared this technique that she's seen Jennifer McGuire do.
She'd asked us to bring some completed card fronts
so I pulled some from my UFO box.

This was a technique that I tried last fall when stamping with a friend.

Hers turned out much better than mine.  I didn't like it but wouldn't toss it.

When I saw that we were going to be cutting the piece, I decided
this was my least favorite of all I'd brought so I figured I didn't
have anything to lose.

I held my breath and cut.

Okay.

Now I had to cut again to leave a space for the stamping.

That's scary!

Everything went back together beautifully and I actually think I
like this card now.

Then.....

Susan got us to play with bleach.

I had this really dark piece of Brusho gone wild and thought
it a likely candidate for the bleach technique.

The technique worked beautifully but the card was too dark for my liking.

I chickened out and didn't get fancy with the cutting this time.
But I have to say, I like the card much better with it split.

Maybe I'll get brave and do some fancier cuts one day.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Kitty Watching for TwoFer

Hi there.  I hope you are having a great day and seeing some signs of Spring!

Here's my Twofer for April

I fell in love with this surprised kitty at the SSAT show last summer.

I think he looks more surprised because he'd sat in the NBUS box
not doing anything for so long.

He played nicely though.

Here's a close up.

I went very CAS with this card. (It will be one of the cards in my May class.)

I put a little more detail into the second one.

The witches hat is one of the Crazy Bird accessories. Another NBUS.
I fussy cut it after smacking it with Versamark and clear embossing it.

This Poppystamps fence was perfect.  I die cut it from a snippet of white
and sponged a little ink on it.

I had lots of fun with this one.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Budding Branches for CAS Watercolour Reminder

The month is half over already.

Seems like the months whoosh by!

For my watercolor I used Brusho crystals sprinkled on a Gelli plate
and spritzed with water.  I smooshed a piece of mixed media paper on the plate.

I think the Gelli plate gives softer look to the Brusho background.

I'm always amazed how using the same products in a different way
can yield such varied results!

  The leaves on this stamp are open
but since this is a silhouette challenge, I colored them in with a black marker.

We're going strong at

Our talented Design Team has some more to inspire you and our
Guest Designer, Birgit, always inspires.

And there's even more inspiration in the gallery.

The challenge is open until the 24th.

Hope you'll join us.

Silhouette Birds for CAS Watercolour

Hello friends.

It's time for a new challenge at

This month Loll has challenged us to use silhouettes on our watercolors.
Silhouettes can be black, white, gray, any metallic (silver, gold, etc.), dark blue
or dark brown.

I've chosen to use a black silhouette cut from a die my friend and teammate,
Christine, sent me for my birthday.  I love these sweet little birds!
 I only used 3 of the 5 birds since the window is small.

The background was done with Brushos and water.  I think it looks like a sunset.

Our design team is joined by the very talented Birgit (Rapport fran ett skrivbord) and
there are some beautiful inspiration cards at the challenge site.

I hope you'll join us at
CAS Watercolour

Simplicity

I am so blessed to have local stamping friends as well as my blog friends.

Several of us went to a recent stamp show and we've had a good time sharing our purchases.

This gorgeous conch shell stamp is one that my friend Jan bought.

I didn't even see this stamp at the show.

I'm glad she did!

I inked it with Sahara Sand and stamped on mixed media paper.

I added a bit of Blushing Bride with an Aqua Painter and
some bits of Crumb Cake reinker that had been diluted in my palette.

I loved the results and thought this wonderful sentiment suited the image.

ANYTHING GOES
