Halloween House

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Jack and I made a Halloween house.

I bought this house, unpainted, in the thrift store and brought it home.

Jack painted it.  All those angles frustrated him and he was getting impatient.
I think it's perfect for a haunted house.

Most of these die cuts are from a Tim Holtz set that I spotted online and
thought would be perfect for this house.

Here are the side views...

Although I usually go cute for Halloween, this was a fun project.

I hope you have a trick free Halloween!

Stenciling over Heat Embossing with GO7

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This month the Group of Sever Cardmakers had a fun technique.  I liked it so much
that I did several cards.

First up is actually the last card I did.

I used a music background stamp from Penny Black and stamped with VersaMark on
Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I opted for this flower stencil, also from Penny Black since
it had fairly large areas of stenciling.  A foiled sentiment finished it off.

Next up...

I stamped a snowflake background stamp from Hero Arts with VersaMark and used
white embossing again.  I made a homemade stencil with a pennant die and vellum and
blended some Simon Says Pawsitively Saturated Ink through the stencil.

After adding some snowflakes from my stash, I stamped and used red powder to
emboss the sentiment. You can see the embossed background better in the next photo.

Then....

I used a Christmas script stamp for the background and a Tim Holtz stencil with
another foiled sentiment. (Sorry for the glare.)

And using the same background stamp...

I used gold embossing powder for this one and another Tim Holtz stencil.
I wasn't expecting to like this as much, but I think it's my favorite.

I found this funky bow in my twine box.  I'm not sure what I was trying to do
when I tied it, but I thought it looked good with this card.  It's always nice to get some
of those UFOs on a card!

There are tutorials and a linky on the Group of Seven Cardmakers blog if you'd like
to try this and share your results with us.

CAS for JUGS

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's my final week Guest Designing with the Just Us Girls Challenge.  It has been such fun
joining in with this lovely group that has welcomed me so warmly.
Thank you for the opportunity to join your fabulous Design Team this month.

The challenge this week is....

I apologize to those who don't like spiders.  But this guy is so cute!
He's not scary at all!

He's hanging in the middle of the card and needed something to help him
stand out.  I had a new pumpkin die set and used it to cut a stencil of the outline.

After ink blending some orange ink through the stencil, I used the dies that are
for cutting layers for the pumpkin to trace around with a colored pencil to
give the pumpkin some dimension.

I hope you'll go to the JUGS website and see what the Design Team has done
to inspire you.  Once inspired, use the center of your card to make something to
share over there.

Fall is in the air.  And Christmas is right around the corner!

My favorite Gingerbread Boy came out to play.

He's so easy to play with.  Just some simple stamping with embossing ink,

Autumn Leaves for JUGS

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm here with Just Us Girls again.
I am really enjoying guesting with this team!

This week we have a photo to be inspired by.

The leaves are beginning to show some color here.  I haven't seen anything as bright
as the leaves on this card yet.  Hopefully we will see some bright colors soon.

I used my favorite background trick and watercolored my die cut leaves on a
piece of Neenah letting the color run off,

When the leaves were dry, I used watercolor pencils to add some details, then
glued on the background leaving some of the leaves loose for dimension.

Adding the die cut sentiment in dark red accented the leaves beautifully, IMO.

I hope you'll hop on over to Just Us Girls and see what they've come up with.
Then come join in at the challenge.

Sunrise Stem

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I love the colors that Hannelie chose for Color Hues #74.

Yellow and Kraft are perfect for this NBUS Sunrise Stem die.

I die cut all the pieces of the flower from Neenah Solar White 110 lb. cardstock
and colored with Pawsitively Saturated Ink and blending brushes.  The colors are
bright but not as glaring as they seem in this photo.  After brushing the brown inks
on the stem and leaves, I added a bit of yellow to give hem more of a fallish look.

The sentiment strip has been inked the same as the stem and leaves and stamped
with the darkest brown ink.

Challenges:
Color Hues #74 - Yellow & Kraft
NBUS #55 - Never Before Used Schtuff - Flower Die

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Friendship Messages (SSS)
Ink:   Lemonade, Sunbeam, Citrine, Cappuccino, Mocha (SSS PSI)

Celebrate

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's the end of an era at The Flower Challenge.  Viv and Aileen are stepping down and
their inspiration will be missed.  Thankfully Karren is stepping in as administrator
so the challenge will continue.

It's also their 7th Birthday.  That's something to celebrate!

My much loved Alstroemeria die and embossing folder has come out to play again.

After die cutting and embossing the flower, I colored with Simon Says
Pawsitively Saturated ink.

I gently Daubed ink over the raised embossed images then placed the flower
on top.  A die cut sentiment finishes it up.

Grateful Pumpkin for JUGS

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's week number two of October and this is my Guest Design for the
Just Us Girls Challenge #701.

It's word week and the word is...

I love the different colors of pumpkins I'm seeing, but I seem to always stick with
the traditional orange color.

I've stamped a border design over the die cut pumpkin and heat embossed it then
daubed a little Tangerine ink over the edges.  An embossing pen and more gold
embossing powder made for an elegant stem.  And a little embossing and random gold
on a tiny leaf die cut topped this pumpkin off.

The leaf sprig was die cut from a background colored with re-inkers on a wet piece
of mixed media paper.

I hope you'll join in the Just Us Girls challenge this week.
I'm heading over at first light to see the pumpkin patch there.

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:   Encore Gold, Tangerine Tango
Paper:   Black, Tangerine Tango, Gold Foil, Mixed Media (Strathmore 400 series)
Other:  Gold EP, Jack o Lantern Fancy Dies (HA), Etched Laurel Leaves Die (SSS)

Enjoy!
