Turning the Page January 2022

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our January page using Berry Delight by Penny Black

By the way, the calendars are 4 ½ inches by 7 inches.

They can be clipped together and can be displayed on an easel or hung

on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.

and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Pine and Holly

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have two more Christmas cards to share.

First up is a dimensional pine tree from a die that Dee's Distinctively recently
sent to me.  The die has lots of layers and I used just a few of them for this tree.

After cutting it, I sponged some ink on the edges, then used an embossing pen
along the edges of the branches and heat embossed with puff embossing powder.

The layers are put together with dimensionals and I cut the shank off a button
to decorate the top.

This is a CASE of a card by my dear friend Loll (Stamping with Loll) for
a challenge at Inspired By.  She was the winner of that challenge and I am
CASEing her card for the current Inspired By challenge.  It's their 200th
challenge this time.  Woot! Congratulations!

I was inspired by the green and white and wonderful texture and dimension.
My button star is a tip of the hat to her plaid.

Thank you for the inspiration, my dear friend.

Loll's card.

I'm sharing this at Double D Challenge too since there's lots of white.

and another card this time using a page from a past calendar.

Playing with Snowflakes

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been trying to clean up some of the stack left on my table.

Both of these were made from some gel plate pieces that had been stenciled
with Wendy Vecchi stenciling paste.

First up has some Penny Black snowflakes cut from Glimmer Paper on
a piece of stenciled snowflakes.

I'll take this over to the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

Next up uses another piece cut from this background with some stitched
snowflakes from Poppystamps.  I'll enter this one into the Poppystamps Challenge.
And I'll take my new Stitched Snowflake dies over to Darnell's NBUS challenge.

I have celebrated the holidays with bright lights, lots of tasty goodies, making,
sending and receiving Christmas cards (and now thank you cards), and most importantly,
spending time with family and friends.

The Work of Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you had a great Christmas if you celebrate.
If Christmas makes you sad, I hope you found something
in the day to be a blessing.

When I woke up this morning, my first thought was that
the work of Christmas was done...and a sense of relief.
This year the preparations seemed to be more hectic and exhausting!

This piece popped into my mind and I thought I'd share it again
with you.

The Work of Christmas

When the song of the Angel  is stilled,

When the Star in the sky is gone,

When the Kings and princes are home,

When the Shepherds are back with their flock,

The work of Christmas begins:

To Find  the lost - To Heal  the broken - To Feed  the hungry -

To Release the prisoner - To Rebuild the nations -

To Bring Peace among brothers and sisters -

To make music in the Heart.

                                                                                             By Howard Thurman

I pray that we will work to bring peace to our brothers and sisters
and hear the music in our hearts in order to celebrate the gift of Christ Jesus.

Enjoy!

Cones and Berries

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm guest designing again for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.
It's always such a pleasure to join this team!

The challenge is Anything Goes with the Option of Christmas.

I opted for Christmas...

In the MISTI, I inked the stamp and pressed the Cones and Berries on
mixed media paper and used a damp waterbrush to get the ink moving.
When it was totally dry, I inked the whole stamp with VersaMark ink and heat embossed
with clear powder giving the image an icy feel.

The sentiment has been cut from foil and stacked twice for added dimension.

Christmas Kickstart - If It's Christmassy, Link it U

Ink:   Baked Brown Sugar, Real Red (SU), VersaMark

Snowflake

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's such a busy time of year!

I'm skidding in to Inspired By with this card.

I apologize for the photo.  This was the best I could do with the glitter and glare.

The snowflake was in my UFO box.  I'm not sure what I embossed the die cut
with but it has both color and glitter.

On top, I've popped a couple other snowflakes that were hanging around.
One is gold foil.  The other is white glimmer paper.

The sentiment was done with a Glimmer Hot Foil plate and

the embossed snowflakes are left over from my last class.

Challenges:
Inspired By - Photo below and sketch (reversed)

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper: Neenah Solar White, Baja Breeze, Gold Foil, Diamond Glimmer (SU)
Other:  Snowflake Dies (?), Snowflake EF (Darice), Holiday Sentiments Glimmer Foil Plate (Splbnd)

Spring into Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I posted this card on Thanksgiving using the Spring Birds set
from Simon Says Stamp.  It's a very versatile set that can be
used for any season.

Today I have a couple of Christmas cards and a birthday card.

I've stamped this cardinal with gray ink and watercolored using Distress inks.

The die cut branches were sponged and glittered and doubled up over
a die cut and watercolored branch.

I die cut a circle to frame him and cut the narrow frame from my
pretty new die from The Ton.  (It's from the same die set that the
Thanksgiving card was cut with.)

I used the same technique to stamp and color the chickadee
but used a square window and different embossed background.

I've updated the card recipe on the Thanksgiving card.

Challenges:
Color Hues - Red & Green
Jingle Belles - Last Minute Christmas cards
Krafty Chicks - Stamp Act
Peace On Earth - Anything Christmas (Mood board below)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Spring Birds (SSS), Signature Christmas (ret PTI)
Ink:   Watering Can (Wendy Vecchi), Distress inks, Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Neenah, Mixed Media, Soft Seafoam (SU)
Other:  Spring Birds Dies (SSS), Pine Branches (ret SU), Round Foliage Window Layering Die (Ton),
Stitched Square Die (SSS), Woodland EF, (SU) Wintery 3D EF (SU), Pretty Pines Dies (ret SU), Clear Glitter

Snowy in Pink

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm excited to be Guest Designing for Penny Black Saturday this month
where the optional theme is Christmas.

I found this background in my stash.  It was smooshed with re-inkers
(Bashful Blue, Marina, Not Quite Navy) & White Frost Paint.

When dry, I stamped branches with Whisper White ink and heat embossed.

Snowy was stamped, colored and die cut to add to torn snowbanks.

The picture doesn't show it, but his hat brim and pom-pom have
a lovely shimmer from Wink of Stella.

I hope to see you in the gallery at Penny Black Saturday.
The Design Team always have special inspiration to share with us.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Snowy (PB), Fragile Beauty (PB), Merry Up (PB)
Ink:   Archival Watering Can (Ranger), Whisper White (SU)
Paper:   Watercolor (TH), Neenah, Whisper White, Versafine Onyx Black
Other:  Re-inkers (Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy), White Frost Paint, White EP, Zig CCRBM, (82 Purple, 200 Orange), Caran D'ach Supracolor Pencils (Steel Grey, Bluish Gray, Mauve), Frosty's Snow Die (PB)
