Turning the Page April 2022

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our April page using the Wisteria Stencil from TCW.

By the way, the calendars are 4 ½ inches by 7 inches.

They can be clipped together and can be displayed on an easel or hung

on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.

and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Enjoy!

Rise and Shine

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I prepare for a class, I always seem to end up with a pile of pieces that
I tried and realized they weren't going to work out for one reason or another.
I'm trying to get some of those pieces on a card because my UFO box is
way too full.  The embossed piece and sunflower were in that pile and they just
happened to fit together very well.

When I saw this card by my friend Michele (I Card Everyone), I didn't waste
any time getting the embossing folder into my basket!

After embossing, I colored the centers.  I started out using a sponge dauber but
switched to a cotton swab when I saw that I was coloring more than I wanted.

The sunflower was cut from a page on last month's calendar.

The little bee was hanging out in the butterfly box.  He's been stamped, smacked
with VersaMark and clear embossed before being fussy cut.

Challenges:
Penny Black Saturday Challenge - ATG with option of bright colours
NBUS - Never Before Used Schtuff (embossing folder)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Rise & Shine (PB), Banner Sentiments (PB), Bee Kind Toile (PP)
Ink:   Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso (SU), Squeezed Lemonade, Bundled Sage (DI), VersaMark
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Daffodil Delight
Other:  Floral Field 3D EF (SSS), Caran d'ache Supracolor pencils, Clear EP

Enjoy!

Love is

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It seems impossible to get a good photo of all this shine.

I used my favorite 3D embossing folder for the leaves.  For the 7 1/4" Monarch
sized card, I used the embossing folder twice.  Where they meet was a good place
to put the sentiment strip.  The sentiment is from a very old Hero Arts set and
probably not available any more.

After embossing, I lightly sanded the raised portions with a sanding block.
I love how this technique highlights the raised veining in the leaves.

The sentiment is heat embossed with gold.  It's a super shiny card!

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - Embossing folder with a twist of green
Tic Tac Toe Challenge #154 - I used the center column, Green, Free, Slimline

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Treasure the Moments (HA)
Ink:   VersaMark
Paper:   Neenah, Solar White, Metallic Confections Foil (TH), Gold Foil
Other:  Fallen Leaves EF (SZX), Dreamy Butterfly Die (MB), Sanding Block

Enjoy!

Snowy Scenes

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A couple of weeks ago, I zoomed with some crafty friends and Loll led us
in stamping white on kraft.  I finally got my images on cards.

We tore some copy paper and used the bottom as a guide to sponge white ink
into snowdrifts.  After doing a few hills, we used the top of the torn paper as a mask
and stamped a tree repeating the process until we reached the top of the design.

My Timber Brown Stazon pad seems to be more magenta than brown.
I kind of like the pink smudges and stuck with it.

A twofer....

I had tried this on my own earlier and stamped first.  It's a lot harder to do the snowbanks
when the image is already stamped!  I was happy to be able to make it into a passable
Christmas card.

Challenges:
Peace on Earth #12 - Anything Christmas Goes (I was inspired by the snowy scene with trees)
Rudolph Days - Anything Christmas Goes

Card Recipe
Stamps: Fairy Fir Trees (Lavinia), Season's Wishes (PB)
Ink:   Whisper White, Timber Brown (Stazon), Cherry Cobbler (SU)
Paper:   Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler (SU), Neenah Solar White
Other:  White Gouache Paint

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Winter Cottage (Alt), Season's Wishes (PB)
Ink:   Whisper White, Potting Soil Archival (Ranger), Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Crumb Cake (SU), Warm Cocoa (GKD)
Other: Caran d'ache Supracolor Pencils, White Gouache Paint

Enjoy!

Easter Basket

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Hippity, Hoppity, Easter's on it's way!

The background is from one of the cards in my recent class.  I remembered this basket
die that I've had for ages, cut it from a snippet of brown cardstock and filled it
with some die cut eggs also left over from class.  I die cut some of these sweet
bunnies last year when a friend lent me her die.

It's been a busy couple of weeks with a class and hosting our Craft Group!

Here's the project I had the gals do in Craft Group.

This was my demo.
Sorry I didn't get pictures of everyone's finished project.
They were awesome and each had it's own personality!

More Foiled Butterflies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have really enjoyed these butterfly hot foil plates and dies.

This time I've foiled on vellum and colored.

I used Copic markers to color on the back of the foiled butterflies and
then cut out with the matching dies.

The background of the card above was debossed with the Art Deco Hot Foil Plate
without foil...just to see if I could.

This one has been debossed with Art Deco Hot Foil Plate
and embossed with Daisy Embossing Folder.

I used a cotton swab dipped in ink to add some color to the embossed image.
