Happy Christmas for Time Out

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I was very excited to win the Time Out #289 challenge.
It came with a gift certificate to Lawn Fawn and a chance to be
their Guest Designer for this challenge.
Thanks so much ladies!

Here's my card....

The challenge for this round is.....

I chose Transport, Star and Book (The Polar Express).  I was going to tear a snowbank, but instead used
this die and emboss set for some snowy trees.

The background was done with Lindy Powders and lots of water. I used
the Screaming Banshee black powder that separates into lots of colors to make
a beautiful night sky. I was able to pick up some of the shine from the mica powder
that's in this powder too.

This challenge is sponsored by Newton's Nook and ends on August 13th.
Winner is chosen by the Design Team and wins a $25.00 gift certificate to
Newton's Nook.

Thanks to Time Out for letting me Guest Design with them and for
the lovely prize.

I can't wait to see what the Time Out team has chosen as their pick twos.
Let's go take a look....

Daisy Daisy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It was a busy weekend but I found time to put something together

Here's Judy's sketch

I had a couple of die cut daisies on my table and used watercolor pencils to
add the color to the centers and bit of gray on the petals.

The butterfly was in the butterfly box.  I think it was cut from some dirty pour
on canvas paper.  The circle was cut from cardstock and topped with a vellum circle.

I used a smaller panel.  I hope that's allowed.
I'll take it over to Freshly Made Sketches and see if they approve.

I'll also link up with Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. where week 2 is Die Cuts.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Snippets (PB)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Vellum
Other:  Wildflower Stems #1 (TH), Envelope Accessories Die (HA), Circle Dies, Subtle EF (ret SU), Arteza Watercolor Pencils.

Enjoy!

Peaceful Snowflake

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I saw the mood board at Peace on Earth, I knew just what I wanted to do.
Then life interrupted that thought.

Life slowed down and fortunately this time the idea worked out.

I die cut this four layer snowflake from some blue glitter paper.  The paper is pretty
thin so I had to cut another from white cardstock and glue the glitter cuts on top.
It was tedious but worth the effort.

The background is a piece of packing foam.  It has an icy look, I think. that
works perfectly with the snowflake.  I added a die cut sentiment cut from silver foil.
I captured the shine in the photo, but it ended up looking white.
Rest assured it's silver and so are some of the little dots.

Challenges:
Peace on Earth - Inspired by the mood board below.  Guess which picture.

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Blue Glitter Paper (?), Silver Foil
Other:  Stunning Snowflake Die (TH), Christmas Greetings Thinlits (ret SU), Packing foam, Circle Punches

Enjoy!

Two Blossoms on a Doily

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I let Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. challenge slip by yesterday.
Mondays come around way too fast!

Anyway, the third Monday is Embossing Folders which I have a lot of and
love an excuse to play with them.

I die cut two of these Morning Blossom flowers from white cardstock and used
blending brushes and Simon Says Pawsitively Saturated inks to color them.

This doily embossing folder makes such a deep impression!

Thanks for giving me an excuse to pull out an old favorite embossing folder, Darnell.

Can You Handle the Pressure - Embossing (no twist of bling)
Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. - Embossing

Floral Fun

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I found this die cut piece tucked in my UFO box and a  piece of background
that I believe was a gel print using two colors of paint and a mask or stencil.

The colors were perfect for the Color Hues Challenge of
Turquoise and Green.

I've left the sentiment off since it will be in a gift box of note cards with
unattached die cut sentiments.

And a UFO twofer....

I found this flower that was die cut from a re-inker smooshed panel.
It looks turquoise IRL, but more blue in the photo.  So I'll deliver this one to
The Flower Challenge which is looking for square cards.  It's 4 1/4 inch square.
This is such a perfect size to tuck into a gift package and I never have any done when
I need them.  Time to  build a little stash.

Challenges:
Color Hues #82 - Turquoise & Green
The Flower Challenge #89 - Make a Square Card

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Neenah Solar White

Chilly and Freezy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Chilly and Freezy came to live with me last Christmas and got set aside
into my NBUS box where they waited patiently to come out to play.

I had these backgrounds left over from my Christmas card class and decided that these
fun characters would fit perfectly.

I've die cut and colored all the pieces with Copic markers then popped them on top
of the backgrounds that had been die cut.  We used a circle and brushed with ink for the sky.

On the second card, I stamped the "snow" with a Gorgeous Grunge stamp
and embossing ink, then embossed with white powder for a snowy look.

One more to use up the backgrounds.  This time I added a sleigh die that's been in my
collection for years.  I cut one layer from darker red and the top layer from bright red.

Challenges:
Christmas Kickstart - Christmassy

Halloween House

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Jack and I made a Halloween house.

I bought this house, unpainted, in the thrift store and brought it home.

Jack painted it.  All those angles frustrated him and he was getting impatient.
I think it's perfect for a haunted house.

Most of these die cuts are from a Tim Holtz set that I spotted online and
thought would be perfect for this house.

Here are the side views...

Although I usually go cute for Halloween, this was a fun project.

I hope you have a trick free Halloween!

Stenciling over Heat Embossing with GO7

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This month the Group of Sever Cardmakers had a fun technique.  I liked it so much
that I did several cards.

First up is actually the last card I did.

I used a music background stamp from Penny Black and stamped with VersaMark on
Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I opted for this flower stencil, also from Penny Black since
it had fairly large areas of stenciling.  A foiled sentiment finished it off.

Next up...

I stamped a snowflake background stamp from Hero Arts with VersaMark and used
white embossing again.  I made a homemade stencil with a pennant die and vellum and
blended some Simon Says Pawsitively Saturated Ink through the stencil.

After adding some snowflakes from my stash, I stamped and used red powder to
emboss the sentiment. You can see the embossed background better in the next photo.

Then....

I used a Christmas script stamp for the background and a Tim Holtz stencil with
another foiled sentiment. (Sorry for the glare.)

And using the same background stamp...

I used gold embossing powder for this one and another Tim Holtz stencil.
I wasn't expecting to like this as much, but I think it's my favorite.

I found this funky bow in my twine box.  I'm not sure what I was trying to do
when I tied it, but I thought it looked good with this card.  It's always nice to get some
of those UFOs on a card!

There are tutorials and a linky on the Group of Seven Cardmakers blog if you'd like
to try this and share your results with us.

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I had a lot of fun with this card!

Pink Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's October and Breast Cancer Awareness month so there's lots of pink cards out there.

I pulled out  a stencil that had been in my collection for a long time, but I'm
not sure that I ever used it.  I love it though and it makes lovely poinsettias.

I masked off the leaves with some low tack tape while I stenciled the flowers,
then moved the tap to the flowers to stencil the leaves.  I missed a spot in the middle
so I added a few more leaves there and it was a good place for a die cut.

I have an embossing folder that is a near perfect match so I added an
embossed background and die cut and framed the flowers.

The gals at Jingle Belles are donating $2.00 each for every entry in this challenge.
They've been doing this every year and I know it is helping to make great strides in the
treatment of breast cancer.  My Mom had breast cancer in 1968 and I am so thankful that
there are better and more successful treatments for breast cancer now.
Thank you Belles!
