Thanksgiving Feathers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I am so ready for fall.  Unfortunately it doesn't seem like fall is
ready to show up.  But, in the studio it can be any season I want.

I had a set of feather dies in my NBUS box and added an older feather die to
make a trio of feathers.  They were cut from some mixed media paper and
smooshed in puddles of watered ink.  I'm not sure what kind of bird they would
have come from,  Maybe a turkey?  I was in the mood for fall colors and I didn't
even think about a bird until they were done.

I dipped the edges of the colored feathers in VersaMark and added gold embossing
powder and heated. The photo doesn't show the golden edges very well.

They were added on an embossed background and I added some tiny gold punched
circles into the embossing.

Challenges:
Double D - Feathers
I.D.E.A.S. - Die Week
NBUS #89 - Never Before Used Schtuff

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Thankful for Fall (PTI)
Ink:   Warm Cocoa (GKD), VersaMark

Other:  Distress re-inkers (Carved Pumpkin, Tea Dye, Spiced Marmalade, Vintage Photo), Jumbo Curiosity Feather die (Grtry), Feather die (HA), Feathers on the side EF (Darice), Gold EP, Linen Thread

Enjoy!

Geranium Prayer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A sweet friend treated me for my birthday and since this was top of my list,
it was her treat and I have really been enjoying it!

When I saw Kim's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #747 last week, these blooms fit
right in and they were sitting on my table ready to go. I went topsy, turvy with the sketch.
I hope Kim doesn't mind.  Here's the sketch...

I die cut them from Altenew watercolor paper.  It's the package with individual sheets
and I find it's perfect for die cut flowers.  The blooms were watercolored
with Distress Re-inkers and assembled when dry.

The embossed background was in one of my birthday cards and set aside for the
perfect place to add it.

I'm also sharing with Darnell's NBUS #89 (where I was one of the lucky winners of her
Mutual Appreciation Celebration last month.  It didn't take long to cash in that GC.
Thank you for your inspiring challenge and support, my friend.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Praying for You Sentiments II (PTI)
Ink:   Nocturne (VC)
Paper:   Watercolor (ALT), Neenah Solar White
Other:  Into the Blooms: Geraniums (PTI), Distress Re-inkers (Festive Berries, Candied Apple, Barn Door, Twisted Citron, Rustic Wilderness, Pine Needles), Praying for You Sentiments II die (PTI)

Enjoy!

Sunflower Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Another new week.  I hope you had a lovely weekend with some crafty time.

I had a play with some new to me ink and paper.

I die cut Sunflower Serenade from Neenah Solar white and used
Buttercup ink from Concord & 9th to add color to the petals.
I am really happy with the color and how it blends.

I used their Eucalyptus and Rainforest ink for the leaves and to stamp
the sentiment and was happy with how the ink works with stamps too.

The base of the card and outer circle were cut from Buttercup cardstock.

The inner circle is new to me too and Jen's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches
gave me the perfect opportunity to try it out.

What's your favorite kind of ink?

Snowman Hugs

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I really need to ramp up the Christmas cards now that July is here.
It seems like it comes quicker each year.

I saw a couple of challenges that wanted to see snow and I just happened to have this
stamp in my NBUS box.  So it was the perfect time to get some ink on it.

I stamped with alcohol friendly black ink and colored with my Ohuhu Markers.
I love that they have a brush tip and a bullet tip for those tight spaces!

I used a cloud stencil for the background but then went over it with more ink.
Some chunky Frantage embossing powder helps the feeling of snow falling.

I stamped again with alcohol friendly gray ink.  White it's out, might as well to
get another Christmas card done.

This time I used more green colors than teal and a very light inking in the background.

I embossed some snow on the framing this time.  Sort of a reverse snow globe.

Challenges:
CAS Christmas - Linda is asking for a snowman (I hope it's okay to have more than one.)
NBUS  #88 - Never Before Used Schtuff
Peace on Earth #115 - I was inspired by the bottom right picture on the moodboard

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Christmas Time (Nellie Snellen), Merry Up (PB)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Speckled Egg (DI), Cherry Cobbler
Paper:   Neenah Solar White

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:  Christmas Time (Nellie Snellen), Merry Up (PB)

Cheerful and Brighter Days

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Recently two friends had surgery.
I had been playing with some new Alex Syberia die sets and pulled
out another set that's just a little bit older, and they seemed to be just
the ticket for feel better cards.

For this first card, I paired the new to me Winter Foliage dies with that sweet bird from
the Cheerful Meadow set.

The foliage was cut from white cardstock and the ink was brushed on with
blender brushes.  The bird was cut from mixed media paper and watercolored
with Distress Ink.

For the second card, I used the same bird die and a sweet rainbow.  All were
cut from mixed media paper and watercolored with Distress Re-inkers.

I wish you cheerful, brighter days too.

Challenges:
Double D - Potpourri (see mood board below.  I was inspired by the rainbow & arches.
NBUS #88 - Never Before Used Schtuff (This is a special month at NBUS! Be sure to check it out)

Card Recipe (card 1)

Ink:   Dried Marigold, Abandoned Coral, Rustic Wilderness (DI), Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Mixed Media (Strathmore), Neenah Solar White

Flutters

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Another just for fun Friday with some new butterflies.

I seem to be obsessed with the die and embossing folder sets.  This one is one of my
all time favorites!

For the first card, I embossed a piece of Cantaloupe cardstock and patted over the
raised parts with a white ink pad.  (I use a large inkpad to do this.)

Then I cut some butterflies and embossed them to get the wonderful detail.

A little ink in the center of the butterflies tie them into the background and
I had a perfect sentiment stamp and die set in my NBUS box to add to the card.

This time I used an aqua cardstock and ink and a favorite saying.

I thought it needed something extra and added a daisy for the wildflower.

Since this is their first outing, I'll add them to Darnell's NBUS challenge #86.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Nature's Dance (SB)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Crisp Cantaloupe, Gold Foil
Other:  Butterfly Escapades EF & Die (SSS), Nature's Dance dies (SB)

Card Recipe
Stamps: Butterfly Mornings (Crafty Individuals)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Coastal Cabana
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Coastal Cabana, Gold Foil
Other:  Butterfly Escapades EF & Die (SSS), Label Die (Emily Moore Designs), Daisy Silhouette Die (MB), Copics (C00, YG82, YG15)

Enjoy!

Cherry Blossoms

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you had a nice weekend and found some time to get creative.

This card was made with a new Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and die set.

I love being able to get the embossed details in the die cuts and when they
offered a discount on their embossing folders, I gave in to the temptation.

I thought that Donna's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches would be a good
fit for these little blooms.

Here's her sketch....

I used the smallest stitched rectangle die and cut six from Solar White Cardstock.
Then on to the embossing folder.  The die cuts three so I cut once from mixed
media paper and colored with Distress Re-inkers used as watercolor.  The leaves
were from another die.

After the flowers had dried, I used a white gel pen to highlight details and a
tiny gem for the center to tie the flowers to the sentiment strip.

Challenges:
Freshly Made Sketches #731 - sketch by Donna
NBUS #85 - Never Before Used Schtuff - Embossing folder and die

Tulip Tag

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The tulips are beginning to bloom here.  I always love seeing their
bright heads popping up in the gardens.

So it was time to get out these NBUS Simon Hurley tulip dies.

I cut all the pieces from mixed media paper and colored with Distress re-inkers
used as watercolors.

Some frames in my leftover box and were a good fit for the tulip
with an embossed pieces behind.

A tiny butterfly and happy Birthday tag finished it off.

Challenges:
NBUS  #84 - Never Before Used Schtuff

I did one for Easter too with my favorite yellow tulip.

There are two more tulips in the set.  I'll save them for another day.

Perky White Flowers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Green is such a good color for this time of year.  I am seeing green in the
trees and the grass.

I have used a NBUS die from Simon Says Stamp that was cut from Neenah Solar White
cardstock and colored with Copic markers.

It's a simple design, but one I use a lot and the white pops so well on the medium
green background.

Here's another but embracing the yellow.  After all it is Pine Pollen Season here!
(Even the green is yellow!)

This time I cut the flower from light yellow cardstock and added some yellow
ink around the edges with a finger dauber.

By using a different embossing folder and a white background framed in yellow,
it gives a different look.

I made the ladybugs by punching a circle from red and one from black and
gluing the red slightly offset over the black.  An ultrafine Sharpie works great
for the dots.  The punch is an old one but one I think you find in any big box store or
office supply.

Challenges:
Beautiful Blossoms #39 - ATG Florals with optional mood board below
NBUS #84 - Never Before Used Schtuff
Seize the Birthday #322 - Following the option - Use Green as the main color

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Cosmo (TTT oob)
Ink:   Garden Green
Paper:  Garden Green, Neenah Solar White, Rustic White
Other: Perky Flower die (SSS), Cracked Large EF (TH), Copics (C00, C0, G24, YG17, YG67)

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps: Easter Blossoms (ret SU)
Ink:  Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Neenah Solar White
Other:  Perky Flower die (SSS), Tile Reflections EF (SB)

In case you're still with me, this is what I saw as I was getting out of the car yesterday
afternoon...

We think it had just bloomed and was drying it's wings.  I checked later and it was gone.
Hopefully it flew on and I'll see it again today.

Enjoy!
