Sweet Heart Roses

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I made several of this design for Valentine's Day.

The stamp is a 6 inch x 6 inch background so I cut some pink cardstock
just a little bigger and used my MISTI to stamp the roses.

After heat embossing, I used a sponge dauber to add color to the center of the roses.

When they were all colored, I cut the un-inked edges off and cut into
3 inch x 3 inch pieces to die cut with this sweet heart.

I pulled out some already dry embossed pieces, some that were cut offs, and
cut a piece of the pink cardstock just a bit larger.

I placed the sentiment in my MISTI and stamped several times by moving the
cardstock up or down a couple of rows, then cutting them apart.

Craft Group

Hi there.

I'll be joining some friends for our monthly craft group tonight
and thought I'd share what I'll be taking.

First we are swapping anything with a heart.
I pulled out my Memory Box LaRue Heart and some red Glimmer Paper.

The studio is all asparkle again!

For our demo this month each of us is to do a 5 minute demo.
This is mine....
Swipe, swipe, stamp, stamp.
I showed a similar card in this post.
This time I dragged a Distress Ink mini cube across the paper
and didn't emboss the butterflies (too much time) but winked them instead.

It will be interesting to see what the others do.
Usually we take turns doing a demo with a project.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Have a Heart

Here's another card that I made from the class leftovers. LOL, I'm beginning to think I'll never get to the end of those leftovers.

I love the red, white and blue of this one and think it will be perfect for my Dad.  He's in the Veterans' Home and he really stands up for the red, white and blue.  Well, he doesn't stand up much anymore, but he still salutes!

Shopping Our Stash #87 has us looking for  Valentines, Hearts, Red, Love, etc!
Hello folks!   I hope this finds you all well!  This week here at Shopping Our Stashwe are asking you to use any combo or single from these ideas:  Love, Red, Hearts, Valentines!  So everyone can find SOMETHING in that list!  Take a look at your stash and see what is needing to be used!

"Just us Girls" #174 has a sketch this week.  I've moved things around a bit, but hope it's close enough.

Pixies Crafty Workshop is always looking for cards using snippets.  I missed the fun at the Playground last week and I'm anxious to get back to play.  Besides pulling out snippets, I've saved some from even having to go into the box!

Simon Says Stamp says Anything Goes this week.  They don't require it but they'd like to see Penny Black stamps this week.  I'd like to see some Penny Black stamps in my collection.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Super CAS Heart

If you like CAS cards, I think you'll like this.

I was cleaning up bits and pieces and kits left over from my last class and this was probably the quickest and easiest that I came up with.  Also, my favorite.

I love this white paper.  It's from a tablet of paper for using Acrylic ink.  I've had it for years as it was a left behind that was never claimed when I was working at the library.  It's not bright white but not cream.  Just a pretty shade in between and I love the texture.

I'm going to take this over to Addicted to CAS #5

I'm also going to take it to the SCS Free4All challenge to make a cute Valentine.  It must have a heart on it.  I'm not sure if this would be considered cute or not, but it does have a heart.

The heart on this card and the class card were inspired by a card that my friend LeAnne did a while back.  You can see that card Here.  Thanks so much for the inspiration, LeAnne!

This is the card the class did...

A Heart with Love

I fell in love with this openwork heart when I saw it here on Marybeth's blog.  Marybeth does beautiful work and it's always a treat to visit her blog.  She made it easy with a link to the source.  LOL, I shouldn't have clicked on that link but I'm glad I did.

I did have a bit of trouble getting all this to cut.  I had to add some card stock to the cutting pads.  The wax paper I used between the die and the paper came out beautifully. LOL, you may be seeing that on a card!

Here's a closer look.

I cut out 2 hearts.  I intended to cut 3 but changed my mind after getting all the pieces picked out.  If you know a special trick to this, please let me know.

Challenges

Paper Players where I couldn't resist this CAS sketch by Jaydee.

Technique Challenge at SCS which is Focus on the Dies.

Our technique today is to use your die cuts, and make them the focal point of your project: Minimal stamping -- use only a sentiment or small stamp for a background if desired. In other words, the main focal point should be a die cut, not a stamped image.

Stamps:  I {Love} Love Jumbo Wheel (whacked up and retired)

Just for Fun

Here's a card that I was going to use for a class this week, but decided to go with something else.

I used the Sycamore Street Designer Paper that will be available free with a $50.00 order during Sale-a-bration later this month.

I thought I'd try it with in red too.  So I raided my scrap box.

Since I dug into my snippets, I can go visit Pixie's Crafty Worshop.  It's always fun to visit the Playground.  I hope the boys will let me do some visiting while I'm there.

Inchie, Twinchie, Sweetie

I took a few minutes to stamp last weekend.  I'm finally getting to share it.

Challenges:

The Featured Stamper, at SCS, this week is ~Fee~.  Her card totally inspired mine. Thank you for the inspiration, Sylvia!  There are several more that I hope to CASE!

The Technique Challenge at SCS last week was to Do an Inchie on a Twinchie. I'd never done an inchie or a twinchie so this was new for me.

Pixie's Crafty Workshop will get another visit as I used a bit of that last piece of Valentine paper from a couple years ago.  I punched very carefully to have the glittery piece in the heart and still save as much of that bit as I could.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Stamps:  I {Love} Love Wheel (unmounted and cut apart)
Ink:  Real Red
Paper:  Whisper White, Real Red, DSP (retired)

The Christmas rush is over.  I'll keep the decorations up until New Years.  After all the hustle and bustle I can enjoy them more now.  We had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed each and every one of your happy Christmas wishes and cards.

Thanks for visiting.

Cards from Some Friends

I wanted to share some of the cards I received from friends last week.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

My friend and kindred spirit, Ruthann, used one of my favorite embossing folders that matches the swirls in this beautiful heart. I love the elegant simplicity of it.

Doris, a special blogging friend of The Stamping Tower,  sent me this card made with some of my favorite peg stamps.  I love these tiny flowers and the embossed wreath and sponging really showcases them beautifully.  Be sure to visit her blog.  She makes lovely CAS cards.

My friend and neighbor, Macie, brought us this Valentine.  What didn't make it into the photo was the sleeve of delicious cookies that it was tied around.  The cookies didn't last long enough for a photo shoot.  Mmm! They were as wonderful as the card!

The last card was in a package of blog candy from Lesley at Always Playing with Paper.  I wasn't expecting a darling card with all those goodies.  Aren't stamping friends the best!?!

I intended to get this posted Friday evening but I've had some computer trouble the past couple of days!  I hoping to get caught up and post some more later today.

I'm glad you stopped in.  See you later.

Enjoy!

Happy Valentine's Day

Here's a fun Valentine for you.  Actually, it could be used for an occasion other than a Valentine too.

The Less is More challenge this week is to make a ONE LAYER CARD using STRIPES.

I love these striped hot air balloons!

All supplies are Stampin' Up!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Up, Up and Away
Ink:  Real Red, Basic Black, SU Markers (Basic Black, Real Red, Sahara Sand)
Paper:  Whisper White

And here's something else I'd like to share.

My friend and neighbor, Macie, shared these stamps with me.  I believe she said her aunt got them in the 30's.      I had fun playing with them and made a Valentine for her with them.  Don't you love the expression on that "Betty Boop" face?  (I straightened the sentiment before I gave it to her. Oops!)  Luke just asked me if that was me and Pop?

The frame was cut with the new Labels Framelits Dies in the Occasions Mini Catalog and the colors are Cherry Cobbler and white.

I hope you are having a wonderful Valentine's Day full of love and smiles.

Thanks for stopping in.

Enjoy!

Versatile Valentine

Here's another project that the Papercrafting Group did yesterday.

It's a CASE of a card by Sandi MacIver.  When I saw her card in December, I knew I would be using it for a lot of occasions.

It's gorgeous with Cherry Cobbler too.

All supplies are Stampin' Up!

Ink:  Early Espresso
Paper:  Whisper White, Rose Red

I'm thinking Christmas card.  Maybe I can get one made for the Merry Monday challenge.

It makes me happy that you stopped in.

Hearts with Friends

This is one of the cards we did in our Papercrafting class this morning.

We had so much fun!  Wish you could have joined us.

I used my new Adorning Accents Edgelit Die.  Isn't that curve sweet?  And everyone got to emboss with the Adorning Accents Embossing Folders.  The big heart was embossed and cut with my Scalloped Heart of Heart Embosslit and the little hearts with the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  That Big Shot was smokin!

The ribbon and decorative paper are free gifts from Sale-a-bration.

I didn't do any stamping on this card.  My friends stamped the inside.

I think I'll send this over to the SUO challenge to use two colors for hearts.  I hope it's ok to enter more than once.

All supplies are Stampin' Up!

Card Recipe
Paper:  Poppy Parade, Whisper White, Everyday Enchantment DSP, Calypso Coral
Other:  Big Shot, Adorning Accents Edgelit, Adorning Accents EF, Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit, Fashionable Hearts Embosslit, Everyday Enchantment Ribbon

I hope you got to have some fun today too.  I'm glad you stopped by even if you couldn't stamp with us.

Enjoy!

Hearts in Two Colors

Do you have a tendency to make monochromatic Valentines?  The other day, I realized that everything I was making was either red and white, pink and white, or black and white.

So on this one, I added a panel of Regal Rose and a black check bow.

I love this long narrow size for a card.  It's a bit different but still mailable at the regular rate.  The finished card  measures 3 1/4" x 6 1/4".  Stampin' Up!'s open end envelope is a perfect fit.

And then today I saw the Stampin' Up! Only challenge and, hot dog! they were thinking along the same lines.
YOUR challenge this time around at SUO Challenges – make a Valentine Card with two main colors (and you can add a neutral or two) and share it with us at the SUO Challenge Design Team!

Imagine that!

And adding that Regal Rose panel made such a big difference in the look of the card.  I'm so glad I added it.

All supplies are Stampin' Up!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  I {Love} Love Jumbo Wheel (cut apart)
Ink:  Real Red
Paper:  Real Red, Regal Rose, Whisper White
Other:  Big Shot, Fashionable Hearts Embosslit, Adorning Accents EF, Gingham Ribbon (retired), Basic Pearls

Tomorrow I'll probably be back to monochromatic.  But that's ok.  I love monochromatic.

I'm so glad you popped in.

Enjoy!
