Turning the Page April 2021

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our April page.

By the way, the calendars are clipped together and can be displayed on an easel
or hung on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.
and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Season's Greetings

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A few months ago we did a technique on Zoom where we sponged the edge of a
design then stenciled over that.

I created some giant snowflakes.

First I stamped the row of fir trees using a mask and stamping several times.

I used a brush to add some ink to the top edge then added more ink though
a stencil.

I added some Quickie Glue pen to the snowflakes and sprinkled glitter over
them to give it some sparkle.

The die cut deer has some sponging on the edges to add dimension.

Another Christmas card for the stash.

Memory Box Small Antilles Flowers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've used this pretty Memory Box Die again.

This time I popped it on a piece of embossing and framed it.

It's a softer lilac color but the camera says differently.

and...

I colored it again with DOX inks and slipped it into an egg shaped aperture in
honor of Easter.

The background for the egg is a mop up piece from Gansai Watercolor.  The
script was done by dipping the stamp in the wet color and stamping on
the mop up.

Tulips and More Tulips

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I love tulips and every Spring I have to get out at least one
of my tulip stamps.

This year it's the Technique Tuesday tulips.

In red and colored with Sharpies.

In yellow for my card class. Stamped and colored with Distress Markers.

and

I stamped then die cut the hemstitch frame and there was a little ink  on the
cutting pad from the previous cutting.  I ended up with a light impression  that just
didn't look right, especially beyond the border.  So I added some 2nd generation stamping
to make it look intentional and die cut again with the Elegant Rectangles die.

Then I added some texture to both the frame and the stamped image and didn't
like the texture on the tulips.  So I put the image on the outside of the embossing
folder and ran it through again and got most of the texture out.

I had to work for this one!

I used a little piece of Alexandra Renke patterned paper and paired it up
with a NBUS die from Simon Says Stamp.

Bunnies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I had some happy mail a couple of days ago.
I had admired an embossing folder a friend had used and she sent
me a few background pieces.

The cane/basket weave design seemed perfect for these sweet bunnies.

The bunnies are Washi Tape by Alexandra Renke.

I've stuck it on some cardstock and die cut a little rectangle with two of the bunnies.

I'll take these little lovelies over to Inspired By Challenge #166

Flossie got rolled out of bed, but she's getting ready to jump back!

Or maybe she'll chase that butterfly instead.

Unfolding

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's been busy around here! Now that I've been vaccinated, I'm out and about more.

I've seen more people in the last week than I'd seen in person for the last year.
It's a good feeling and it's like no time had gone by.

I hope you're getting to the spot where you can get out and visit family
and friends again.  Please do it safely for yourself and those who haven't been
able to get their vaccination yet.

Here's a very simple card with a little watercoloring.

I used Gina K. Designs Warm Glow ink to stamp with for a
no-line coloring look using Zigs for the coloring.

I die cut the piece with this beautiful Elegant Stitching Frame from Penny Black
that was a wonderful gift.

Purple Spring

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Spring is almost here.
At least we hope so!

The Flower Challenge is asking for...

I used this NBUS stencil that a dear friend gifted me and  inked the
wisteria up in purple ink.

I cut the piece in half and die two mini slimline cards.

I added some ink blending around the stenciled design.

Here's the second.

I used a technique by Eileen Godwin for this one.

It's a bookmark tied on a card base.

The card bases are a mini slimline 6 1/4" x 3 1/4"

Maybe a good Easter card....

It's the first outing for the stencil and the rabbit so I'll share this with
NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff)

Prancing Reindeer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have another Christmas card to share today.
I'm so glad my Christmas stash is growing!

I found this guy hanging out in my Christmas UFO box.

He was cut from corrugated cardboard but I chose the smooth side to show.
The corrugation pops him up a bit.

The background was stamped with a Christmas background stamp,
splattered with red ink and die cut with a Deckled Edge die.

I sponged around the edges of the die cut and a bit on the deer too.

I love the kraft, red and white color combination and
my dear friend Loll chose this as the challenge at

I love this color combo so much that I did another.

How's your Christmas stash coming along?

Your Choice for Twofer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for another Twofer Challenge!

This month's challenge is a little different.

My choice is WREATH.

First up is a New Home card.

I inked the leaves on this NUBS wreath with different colors of Distress Markers and
used a damp waterbrush to pull the color into the leaves.  I followed up with some
watercolor pencils and splatter.  Of course I stamped the sentiment crooked.  So I tried again
and die cut it to pop over the boo boo.  The Whittle birds was watercolored with some of
the same markers and my waterbrush.

I recently bought some more patterned paper to hoard. Wonder of wonders, I actually
let myself cut into a piece of it!  And I die cut the design piece to show off a bit of the paper.

For my twofer...

I stamped the wreath off the edge of Mixed Media paper and heat embossed with gold powder
before watercoloring the leaves with Arteza Twimarkers.

What?  Where's the shine?

Oh, here it is...

What will you choose?

Be sure to tell us what your choice is and make two different designs for two different
occasions using the same stamp, die or stencil.

Check out what our fantastic design team and Guest Designer, my dear friend Nancy,
have done to inspire you.

I hope to see you in the Twofer Gallery.

NBUS - Never Before Used Schtuff (wreath stamp)
