Turning the Page August 2022

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our August page using Greenery Invites by Art Impressions.

By the way, the calendars are 4 ½ inches by 7 inches.

They can be clipped together and can be displayed on an easel or hung

on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.

and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Enjoy!

Wishing you Butterfly Mornings

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Years ago I worked in a needle crafting store and we had a cross stitch pattern
with this quote on it.  I always loved the quote but never actually used it.

I've been on the lookout for a stamp with the saying for a long time and
finally found one.  Isn't the font beautiful?

The butterfly was stamped in black on some patterned paper, then splattered with some
peach ink by flicking the end of a marker against a piece of acetate.
I splattered a bit on the background too.

No die, but it was pretty easy to fussy cut that butterfly.

The colors are from the Color Hues Challenge #45

There are so many beautiful peach and gray cards in that gallery.
Do go take a look.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Butterfly Mornings & Wildflower Afternoons (Crafty Individuals), Queen Anne's Lace (SU), Butterfly Flourish (Deep Red)
Ink:   Smoky Slate, Memento Tuxedo Black, Peach Parfait Marker (ret SU)
Paper:   Neenah, Peach Parfait
Other:  Acetate to splatter

Enjoy!

In The Meadow with Jack

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Today I'm showcasing one of Jack's latest creations.

Last week when he was staying with us, he wanted to use acrylic paint.

I had picked up a couple of canvasses at the thrift store and we set to work.

Somehow he painted the view behind the house I grew up in.  Except it had
daisies and black-eyed Susan in the meadow.

He insisted that I paint with him.  Mine is still a work in progress.

He wants to enter this at Simon Says Kids Only Challenge.
So off we go.

Here he is with his painting.

In Memory

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My dear niece lost her battle with Melanoma this week.
She fought the disease bravely and tried every trial available to her.

She leaves behind two children and a devoted partner.
If you pray, please pray for them and her parents.

I wiped the inside of embossing folder with a baby wipe and embossed a piece
of watercolor paper.   For the color,  I used watercolors and touched
up with watercolor pencils.

The outside is edged with a Black Sharpie by tracing around the design piece on
a piece of scrap paper.

This is a CASE of card by Erum Tasneem.
Thank you for your inspiration Erum.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Bouquet of Thanks (SSS)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black

Dash Away All

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This Santa die had been hanging out in my NBUS box since last Christmas.
It's about time I  used it.

I cut a piece of salted watercolor for the background and die cut Santa and his reindeer
twice from a snippet of black cardstock. I glued the two pieces together for
some depth.

The houses were cut from another snippet of brushed silver cardstock.  I pressed the
edges of the roofs in VersaMark and sprinkled with a twinkly embossing paste

I found a tiny star stamp and stamped a few stars in the sky and embossed them.

I added a frame from my UFO box and stamped and embossed the sentiment.

Another one for the Christmas stash!

Challenges:
NBUS #40 - Santa Die
Jingle Belles - Bring on the Bling (glitter embossing powder)
Double Trouble Paper Crafts - Christmas in July

My Favorite Snowy Guy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I love snowmen and I have quite a few in my stamp, die and
embossing folder collection.

This guy is my absolute favorite!

He's so easy to color and dress up.

I've done a bit of paper piecing this time, using some very old patterned paper.

Snowy is simply stamped and I've then added the paper pieced hat and scarf.

The brim of his hat and pom-pom have an icy sparkle with glitter and embossed
snowflakes are falling in the background.

Challenges:

Did You Know

A few weeks (or maybe months) back a friend of mine emailed me about
the fact that comments on our blogs were going to spam.

If she hadn't given me step by step instructions on how to find that, I would
have never known.

When I found the key, I saw that I had over 200 comments that had gone into
that spam folder.  Most of them were legitimate comments.

So now, I check often and set those sweet comments free.

Here's how to check in case you are as clueless as I was.

Go to your Blogspot Dashboard and click on comments.

Look in the top left over the comments where it says All and click on the arrow beside that.

A drop down will pop up and you'll see the work Spam with a number beside it.

Hopefully the number is 0.  If it isn't click on the word Spam and it will show you
all the comments it has collected.

There is an arrow to the right you can click on to publish the comment.

Those comments are too precious to waste!

Enjoy!

Softly Bleached

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Another piece from my UFO box finds a home.

This started with a Brusho background.  I'm not sure what color or colors I used.

Then I'd stamped these sweet flowers and used bleach on a paintbrush to remove the
color from the flowers and leaves.

That's as far as I got before this went into the UFO box.

When I was cleaning out recently, I colored the flowers with Zigs
and put it on a card.  Don't know why that took so long!

Challenges:
Penny Black Saturday - ATG/Option of Spots and/or Stripes (spots from Brushos)

Card Recipe

Ink:   Archival Jet Black
Paper:   Neenah, Mixed Media (Strathmore), Daffodil Delight

Starry Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

While I had those star dies out.....

I die cut several for the previous card and wanted to use the leftovers as well as
some leftover white stars in with the dies.

Actually, other than the sentiment, all the elements of this card were leftovers.

This one is for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  I think it's close enough to the sketch.
