Tulips and More Tulips

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I love tulips and every Spring I have to get out at least one
of my tulip stamps.

This year it's the Technique Tuesday tulips.

In red and colored with Sharpies.

In yellow for my card class. Stamped and colored with Distress Markers.

and

I stamped then die cut the hemstitch frame and there was a little ink  on the
cutting pad from the previous cutting.  I ended up with a light impression  that just
didn't look right, especially beyond the border.  So I added some 2nd generation stamping
to make it look intentional and die cut again with the Elegant Rectangles die.

Then I added some texture to both the frame and the stamped image and didn't
like the texture on the tulips.  So I put the image on the outside of the embossing
folder and ran it through again and got most of the texture out.

I had to work for this one!

Amaryllis Thank You

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A dear, sweet friend brought me an amaryllis bulb recently.
It's in a wax ball so I don't have to water it or anything, just turn it every
few days and watch it grow.  I've never had an amaryllis plant before, so I'm excited
to see if it will bloom for me. This card is to thank my friend.  It was from last year's
January calendar page.

My phone is wanting to play tricks with this photo.  I used Cherry Cobbler
cardstock for the contrast.  It's much brighter IRL.

The Flower Challenge #51 - Add Embellishments (I've added 3 crystals)

Happy Birthday Loll

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by.

Today I'm celebrating the birthday of my cherished friend, Loll.

Happy Birthday, my friend.

I've inked this Technique Tuesday stamp with Distress Markers and ink pads
and used a damp waterbrush to blend the colors.  Where I needed more color,
I smooshed ink on my palette and picked up the ink with my waterbrush.

I hope you have a wonderful day, dear friend.

Spring Tulips

Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by.

I hope you and your loved ones are well.

There's still time to join in at CAS Watercolour.
Susan is hosting this month and she chose...
Susan says: "I am looking for SPRING flowers - not just any flowers.
So please think snowdrops, daffodils, tulips, crocuses,
apple and cherry blossom, dogwood, etc."

I've inked this wonderful stamp from Technique Tuesday with Distress
Markers and stamped on Mixed Media paper. You may recognize it as the
same flowers on my March calendar page.

Using the MISTI makes it possible to ink small sections and blend
with water then stamp again.

If you like your cards brighter, here's another version for you.

Our Design Team along with our Talented Guest Designer, Vicky have
wonderful examples of Spring flowers to inspire you.

I hope you'll check us out and share your watercolor Spring flowers with us at

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Amaryllis

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This amaryllis is one of my favorites from Technique Tuesday.

I put the stamp in MISTI and inked it up with
Archival Shadow Gray.

My Arteza Twimarkers worked beautifully to add color
and my trusty waterbrush helped to move the color around.

I find that this image colors beautifully with
very little effort!

But, in trying to save paper, I stamped it too close to the edge.

I found that if I cut a smaller circle as a little frame, it fit perfectly.

Whew!

Pink Cosmo

Hello crafty friends.  I'm glad you stopped by today!

I had this stamp set out to use the sentiment.  I've used it lots for the sentiment, but
I don't think I'd ever inked the flowers.

They were so much fun to color.  I don't know why it took so long to play with them!

I put the stamp in my MISTI and used a combination of Distress Ink and
Distress Markers to ink the outline stamp.

I pulled color into the petals with my waterbrush and added color where
I needed extra by picking up ink swiped on my palette.

When I was finished coloring, I pulled some of the pink from the edges
of the flowers to create a soft wash.

I used the stamp again by stamping with embossing ink
and heat embossing with white powder.

Then I blended Distress Oxide ink with my brushes (thanks, Trina).
I colored it dark at the top and faded it out toward the bottom to create an
ombre look.

Then I used a damp waterbrush to lift color from the petals.

I loved the soft contrast!

The centers were done with a Copic marker.

At CAS Mix Up the challenge is
The challenge is open until the 24th.

Wings to the Heart

Hello.  I'm back with a card for all of you.

There's still time to join in with Marcia's challenge at

I put the Bleeding Hearts stamp in the MISTI and used Distress Markers
to ink the stamp.  After stamping, I used a waterbrush and some ink
smooshed on my palette to color in the image.  The beauty of the MISTI
is that I can stamp multiple times to get my lines back if necessary.

I thought this sentiment from Papertrey Ink was fitting.
It also says what I feel about all of you.
If only those wings could physically get me somewhere!

Our fabulous Design Team and mega-talented Guest Designer, Darnell
have lots of wonderful inspiration for you.
I hope you'll join us at

Stems of Daffodils

Hello.  I hope you've had a good weekend and had some time to craft.

I've been working on this little card for a few days here and there
between preparing for a class and spending time with Jack.

I had been eyeing this Technique Tuesday stamp set for quite a while and bought it
when they had a fantastic sale just before Christmas.  I was helping Santa do his shopping (wink).

It was calling to me and I just had to take some time out to ink it up.

Since it always made me think of daffodils, I inked the flowers with a
yellow Distress marker and stamped, Moved the ink with a damp waterbrush and
re-stamped until I was happy with it.  Then I inked the stems using the same technique.

I stamped the flowers on a snippet of watercolor paper again and when dry,
cut them with the coordinating die.  I used a shaping tool to get some
curl to the petals.  You can see this technique here.

For the centers of the flowers, I swiped the marker on my palette, picked up
color with the waterbrush and painted it on some of that snippet.  When it was dry, I
used a little scalloped circle punch to punch out my circles. I ran the marker around
the edges and shaped it into a cup.

I added the shaped flowers over the original stamped ones.

Since this stamp was new to me, I'm taking my card over to

and I'll add this to the gallery at

Unfortunately Technique Tuesday has retired this stamp and die, but I think
you may still be able to find it at some of the stamp stores.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Emboss Resist with Brushos

Hello friends.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Mix Up.

We'll be cutting all our CAS Challenges short this month.  More on that later.

I thought I'd take a break from Christmas cards today.

I stamped this dandelion with whisper white ink on
mixed media paper and heat embossed it.

Then I sprinkled some Brushos on it and spritzed.

To get a good coverage and blending, I used a water brush.

When it was dry, I die cut it, and placed it on a card base
that had been embossed with a larger matching die.

This inspirational sentiment and butterfly in black
added a little drama.

For my mixed media I used
stamping, heat embossing, Brusho, watercolor, dry embossing and die cuts.

This month's challenge will only run for two weeks.  The challenge closes on December 15th midnight (PST).
Our Friend Hideko has joined the CAS Mix Up Design team.
We're so happy to have her there!

Another friend, Bozena (ArtCardBox) is joining
our team this month as Guest Designer.

Hope you get to join us.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Another Amaryllis

Hello friends.  I'm so glad you stopped by.

I am really enjoying this Technique Tuesday stamp!
(First I used it here.)

This time I colored the flowers in red.  I had just received a
Candied Apple Distress Marker and it was perfect for getting a good
rich, red color.

I placed the stamp in my MISTI and inked the flower with Distress Markers
and used a damp water brush to move the ink.

After it dried, I layered colors directly with markers and water brush.

The wash was done by pulling colors from the flowers
to the surrounding areas.

I used a sentiment from the same set.

I had some narrow glitter frames left from my last class and
used one to add a little sparkle to this card.

It celebrates a special day for a very special person.

Amaryllis for CAS Watercolour

Hello friends.  Today I have another card for
CAS Watercolour

Susan is hosting this month's challenge

I had such fun coloring this beautiful flower!

I inked this NBUS Technique Tuesday Amaryllis stamp with markers and
pulled the color into the petals and leaves with a damp water brush.

By using my MISTI, I could stamp again if I needed to to get
lines back.

I did remember to color alternating petals so the color wouldn't
just run together.

After it was all colored, I pulled some color from the image to
make a soft wash around the flower.

I want to do this flower again.

The Design Team along with our Guest Designer, Maura
have some beautiful Christmas Florals and/or Greenery to share with you.
Hope you check them out.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Since this frame was a snippet left from a Halloween card last year,
I'm going to skip over to the Playground.  I've been absent far too long and I'm
