Birthday Balloons for CAS Watercolour

Hi there.  It's time for a new challenge at CAS Watercolour.

Karen is hosting this month and she chose....

I've die cut and punched a couple of balloons out of Mixed Media paper
and used my Zigs and a waterbrush to color them up.

I put them on a background of Gelato Splash and
inked up a splatter stamp with the same Gelatos to let the splatters
spread to the card base.

The strings are from the ends of the sentiments from
Handwritten Border stamps.

You can't see it in the picture, but the balloons are
shined up with some Nuvo glaze and shaped.

Our talented friend, Bobby is joining us as
Guest Designer this month.  Be sure to check out her
wonderful design and the inspiration pieces from our super Design Team.
Then I hope you'll join us at
CAS Watercolour.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Hidden Friend

Hello friends.

Today I have a hidden word card.

It's a reminder that there's still time to join in at
Where Hideko is asking for

The heart is cut from a piece that I stenciled using Gelatos applied
with a baby wipe.

The stencil is by Sanna Lippert for Stamplorations and was sent to me by a sweet friend.
The stenciled piece has been sitting in my background box since last spring.

I die cut it with the heart and die cut the word out of the heart.
I also die cut the word a few more times from some white cardstock that
had been lined with some Sizzix Sticky Sheet so I could stack them.

I used a larger die to dry emboss an outline for the flowered heart, stamped a
sentiment and added black twine and gems to balance out the black stamping.

There are some videos at the challenge site with ways to do this technique
and the Design Team along with our fabulous Guest Designer, Arlene
have lots of inspiration for you.

I hope to see your card(s) in the gallery!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Dandelions Background with Gelatos

I Stamped Serendipity's Dandelion Background with black ink
and heat embossed on a piece of cardstock.

Using the metallic Gelatos, I pressed a bit in the center of each flower and
spread the color outwards with my finger finishing up with
a damp waterbrush toward the tips of the petals.

I found that wetting my finger on a baby wipe helped with the spreading.

The butterfly and sentiment looked fine but I thought it needed
a little something else so I splattered with Memento black re-inker.

I used my box to splatter but still ended up with splatters on my shirt,
hands and even my feet!  LOL, I'm still not sure how I did that!

It did add extra interest to the card.

Lots of great use of crayons and Gelatos from our
Design Team and Guest Designer Jenny.
And many more fantastic samples in the gallery.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Butterfly Gelatos for CAS Mix Up

Hello my friends.

Another month has whooshed by!

Can it really be May 1st?

Using Gelatos, Stamping, Heat Embossing, and Fussy Cutting

I'm hosting CAS Mix Up this month
and I chose a product that I've had and not used much.

I used my metallic Gelatos to color this Penny Black butterfly.

I wish I could get a photograph to showcase his shimmer!

I stamped and heat embossed with gold onto hot press watercolor paper,
then pressed some Gelato near the center of the wings
and spread the color out with my finger.

I found that if it doesn't want to spread smoothly that dampening my
finger on a baby wipe made it spread easier.

I repeated with the green Gelato overlapping just a bit.

The Gelato wipes off the embossing with a dry paper towel or cloth.

To get a matching gold frame, I smooshed the edges of a piece
of Neena in Versamark ink and heat embossed with the same gold powder.

The background piece  was done by inking the Verdure background stamp
with ink, spritzing with water and pressing the paper into the inked stamp.

When that was dry, I did the same technique with a little flower
to get a touch of pink and stamped some random faith words over it all.
The words are mostly hidden by the butterfly but since his wings
aren't fastened down, you can catch a peek.

Our fabulous Guest Designer this month is
Jenny (My Paper Epiphany).
Be sure to check out her design and those of our talented Designers.
Lots of inspiration and video tutorials at
CAS Mix Up!

Hope you'll join us.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Everything Flowers Two Ways

Hi.

Are you getting tired of salted and alcohol ink cards?

Here's something different.
I've stamped and heat embossed the Everything Flowers Background stamp
from Hero Arts, then colored the flowers with Gelatos.

I pressed the tip of the Gelatos metallic colors onto the flowers and spread the
color with my finger.

The color is very much like chapstick and spreads smoothly.

Kind of like making pretty mud pies!

I added some non metallic Gelato to the centers of the flowers.

I added some shading by putting the Gelato on my palette and picking up some color
with an Aqua Painter.

For the background, I used a Pitt Artist Big Brush pen in May Green to scribble on my palette,
picked up the color with an Aqua painter and did a wet on wet wash around the colored flowers.

(BTW, it's so easy to make a palette for markers and ink by
laminating a half sheet of white cardstock.)

I'm entering this in The Flower Challenge #11

ADD A SENTIMENT

also

I have shiny embossing and the metallic Gelatos also shine.

Here's a closer look of that shine.

I stamped 2 small pieces at the same time since this is such a large stamp.

I watercolored this one with Zigs.

Quite a different look!

Both sentiments are from the Thoughtful Messages set at SSS.

This set was a birthday present from my dear friend Loll.
I can see that this set will get a lot of love.
Thanks again, dear friend!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Heat Embossing with Gelatos

A little while back few years ago, I saw this video by Darlene DeVries.

Of course I had to get the stamp and the gelatos!

It took a while to get around to using them.

I'm so glad I dug them out and gave it a try.

Now, I'll confess that I did a sorry job of heat embossing this background stamp.

I ended up with quite a bit some of the powder not embossed.

Hate when that happens!

So I salvaged what I could and colored the flowers using gelatos and my fingers.

I love how the colors look with the black embossing!

And finger painting was fun too!
