Baby Cakes

The One Layer Wednesday Challenge is hosted by Susan this week.  She linked us to a site called Cake Wrecks; Sunday Treats for Mom.  I chose these cookies for inspiration.

Actually, I think I would like it better without the onsies.  But once I started with them, there was no going back.

Here's another one that I salvaged.  I laid the stamps on the card to see about placement and they evidently had some ink on them.  They left some smudges and dots behind.  So I stamped again on some Decorative Paper, cut them out and glued them over the smudges.  I'm not sure that paper piecing is allowed on One Layer Cards.

I saw a techinque on my friend Vicky's site, Crafting Clare's paper moments, this morning that really helped with these tees.  They were on a jumbo wheel and I never could get them to stamp the way I wanted them to.  Vicky "whacked" her In Stitches wheel (from the Occasions Mini) to make separate stamps. This technique worked beautifully for these little tees and I'm sure I will use them a lot more now.  It's a great bargain too.  I got 5 stamps from an $8.50 wheel!

Vicky gives step by step instructions for "whacking" the wheels.  I was in too much of a hurry to take pictures along the way, so you really need to go to her blog to see the how to.  While you're there, take a look around.  She has a wonderful style and I'm never disappointed when I visit her.   I got the idea for piercing the clothesline and hanging chains from Vicky too.  A big thanks Vicky!

Edited to add: After stamping the letters with Whisper White, I heat embossed with Clear EP.  I punched a 1 1/4" & 1" hole in some scrap paper to use as a mask and sponged the color around the letters.

I think I'll take this over to the Less is More challenge too since it's an embossed, one layer card.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Baby Tees Whacked Wheel, Lovely Letters Alphabet
Ink:  Whisper White, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Wild Wasabi

I'm so glad you stopped by to visit.

Wow! Thank you so much for your lovely comments Bonnie - you're making me feel quite bashful! By the way, I love your phrase 'whacking a wheel'!

I can see the onsies make great separate stamps too and I love what you've done with them here. The paper-pieced ones are fab. Vx

Oh, so very cute. I love the onesies. Disassembling that wheel sounds as if it really did the job for you. Just an adorable baby card, Bonnie!

Love your paper pieced card Bonnie... I love onesies as you call them on your side of the pond... I think we call them all-in-ones... I'd think I'd rather have onesies!
Thanks so much... you're such a loyal LIMette!

I love both of your cards. The colors are wonderful, and I love those onesies. Thanks for sharing the "whack the wheel" idea. I have many of them and I never ever use them. I am going to try that!
