Snowman Queen

This is for the Queen for the Day last week at SCS.  Queen Sue (Mrs Noofy) had a lot to choose from.  I ended up choosing this card to CASE.

My friend Jan left me some of her Christmas toys a couple of weeks ago.  She said she wouldn't have time to play. This embossing folder was one of the gems she left with me.

The Color Challenge at SCS this week was perfect for this card: Real Red, Basic Grey, Gumball Green.  Dessert is SNOW. How perfect it that?

Pixie's Crafty Workshop is still open, so I'll take my snippets for the scarf and little snowflakes over there.

Rudolph Day Challenge is wrapping up the year.  I'm late to join this party, but I'll be looking for it in January.  There's a chance for a prize over there so you might want to take a look!

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  More Merry Messages, Jolly Bingo Bits
Ink:  Real Red, SU Markers (Basic Grey, Real Red, Gumball Green, Pumpkin Pie)
Paper:  Whisper White, Gumball Green, Snippet of Real Red
Other:  Dazzling Details, Big Shot, Bitty Banners Framelit, Snowman EF (Sizzix), Tiny Snowflake punch (Dollar Tree Find)

I really need to get my Christmas cards in the envelopes and mailed out.  I may have to stop playing with the stamps for a few days.  Maybe I can....

Thanks for stopping by.

Enjoy!

The Star

The CAS challenge at SCS this week is based on a quote...

I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night- Galileo

I have done several cards using this set and I think this is my favorite.  The speckles in the Natural cardstock are so pleasing to me.

I used a VersaMarker to add dots to the sky and embossed them for extra stars then sponged the sky.

I'm going to take this over to the CASology challenge too.

Yesterday I had read:  After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?  We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him."  Matthew 2:1-2

and

Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.  Matthew 2:7

What a special time!

Ink:  Encore Silver, VersaMarker, Not Quite Navy, Midnight Muse

Memories of Winters Past

This is the second post today.  I want to get this in to the CAS(E) this Sketch! and the door's about to close.  Scroll down to see my Merry Monday card.

Here's the sketch...

The Ways to Use it Challenge at SCS last Thursday was

Black Friday
To make a card in black and white with  a pop of color.

Glittery Embossing
The technique is to dry emboss then roll Dazzing Details over the embossing with a brayer.  Click on the link above for detailed instructions.
(I didn't capture the glitter in the photo but it's very sparkly IRL.)

I decided to leave off the sentiment.  I may use it for a holiday thank you card.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Winter Memories
Ink:  Jet Black StazOn, SU Markers (Garden Green, Handsome Hunter (retired), Real Red)
Paper:  Basic Black, Whisper White
Other:  Snow Burst EF (retired), Dazzling Details

I loved ice skating as a kid so this set really brings back winter memories!

Thanks for taking the time to visit again.  I'm about to go visiting.  Maybe I'll be visiting you soon.

Enjoy!

Merry Monday Gifts Galore

Christmas is 1 month away! Have you got your Christmas cards done?  Thanks to Merry Monday, I'm in good shape.   Here's this week's card.....

Here's Lesley's fantastic sketch.

The week got away from me and I was at the deadline yesterday trying madly to get my card done and to Lesley on time.  I had an idea that had been playing in my mind.  It didn't work.

So I went with the other idea whirling around in my mind.  It didn't work.

Did I mention that both of these ideas involved glitter?  LOL, it's everywhere! That stuff multiplies!

By this time I'm starting to panic worry that I'm not going to make it!

So I pulled out some snippets that were cut in 1" strips and squared them off.  I had some beautiful, metallic Origami papers that a friend had given me so I used some of them to die cut these bows.

Snippets so I can go over to Pixie's Crafty Workshop Playground.  I always enjoying playing with Di and the girls.

A little embossing, OK, a lot of embossing and it came together.

This will be the last Merry Monday challenge until the first of January.  I hope you'll take advantage of this last challenge of the year and show me how easy this sketch is.

And check out the rest of the Design Team cards.  They're fabulous as usual!

Now to clean up that glitter...

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

I'm so happy that you stopped by.  Let me know what you think!

Dynamic Winter Glitter

I was working on my Merry Monday card, that you'll see tomorrow, and it seemed that all the ideas that had been floating around in my mind didn't work.  One of the ideas was a border of this Memory Box snowflake out of Glimmer Paper.  I couldn't get it to work, so I set it among the piles of stuff I'd dragged out aside.  When I finished my Merry  Monday card, I saw that the discarded snow border would work for some other challenges.  This is what I came up with.

Challenges:

Freshly Made Sketches #62  with this lovely CAS sketch by Jen M.

Glamour and Glitz

Add Glitter

The glitter was already on the paper.  Does that count?  I can tell you with certainty that I added glitter to my craft room.  LOL, it's everywhere!

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  All Holidays (retired)
Ink:  Midnight Muse
Paper:  Midnight Muse, Whisper White, Glimmer Paper
Other:  Ornament Punch, Snow EF (Cuttlebug), Snowflake Border Die (MB), Snowflake Punch (non SU)

This card probably has too many layers for Chrissie, but I'm going to take it over there anyway.  It says CAS to me and it definitely has some glamour and glitz.

I'm so glad you stopped by.

Enjoy!

Silver Snow

One of my stampin' friends, Jan, shared this idea with us last Saturday when the Stamp and Share group met.  I added some sparkle and embossing and I'm loving the results.  I kind of wish I'd embossed a circle around the snowflake, but it's too late now.  Maybe next time.

There's some Dazzling Details in the center of each of the embossed snowflakes.  I couldn't capture the sparkle, but at least this picture isn't as dark as the last couple of cards I posted.
Challenges:

Addicted to CAS #1  a brand new challenge.

The Paper Players brought to us by my friend LeAnne

Emboss the Edges!!!

(I embossed the edges of those tiny tags with a VersaMarker and silver Embossing Powder.)

Anything goes!! Just make sure your project is CAS!

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Petite Pairs
Ink: Versamarker
Paper:  Whisper White, Silver Glimmer
Other:  Snow Burst EF, Snowflake punch (retired), Jewelry Tag Punch, Silver EP, Dazzling Details, Silver Cord (from my stash.  I wish SU would bring that elastic cord back)

LuAnn asked how I did the label on Monday's card. The white label is cut with the Apothecary Accents die.  The Cajun Craze mat was cut with my paper snips after laying the die on the back of the paper and tracing around the outside of the die. Flip it over and it's ready to go.  I saw this card on Beverly's  Gott Heart Art blog and when I asked, she kindly emailed me her technique.

Our sweet Emmy just admired this card as I'm posting it.  She liked all the sparkle.

I need to stop here and get some cuddling time in.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'm so glad you came.

Enjoy!

Turkey Punch

I punched some turkeys for Thanksgiving.  Here's one of them.

Queen for the Day at SCS is gabalot (Gabby).  This is the card I used for inspiration after looking through her fantastic gallery.  I used a different season and critter, used the die cut for my sentiment instead of my main image, and different colors.

CASology has a new challenge today that fits...
.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Holidays and Wishes
Ink:  Cajun Craze

Merry Monday Poinsettia Greetings

Again, Lesley has a great sketch for Merry Monday!

I had just got this poinsettia die that I'd been wanting for at least a year.  DH says if you've wanted something that long, you probably should get it.  He didn't have to tell me twice!  So guess what I used for that little circle?

And what a perfect use for some snippets of that pretty decorative paper I've been enjoying. So over to Pixie's Crafty Workshop I go.

And I also want to honor Shadow's Mom (Lee-Anne) who is the Featured Stamper at SCS this week.  She did a beautiful punched poinsettia card last year.  Congratulations, Lee-Anne! Enjoy your week.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Teams cards.  I've had a sneak peek and they are gorgeous!

Bragging Rights

Hi again.  I'm gonna crow!  My mom would scold me and worry that my head was getting too big.  But I'm excited and want to share it with someone.

My Leaves and Banners card is the Headliner for last weeks challenge at Paper Players!  Thanks so much Anne Marie!

Here's the card again in case you missed it.

It was also a CAS Favorite at Splitcoaststampers this week...TWICE!  Thanks so much Nancy and Brenda!

Brenda also named my Jolly Little Wreathes card in her Favorites!  Thanks again Brenda! I'm so excited!
Here's that card in case you missed it.

And while I'm bragging, let me share a couple pics of the boys.

This is our sweet Jack.  He had just learned that he could pull that bus and was going round and round the house.  It's a very special old bus and makes lots of noise which makes it even more fun.  Especially when your BIG BROTHER DOESN'T LIKE IT...

Look at that devilish grin!

I hope I haven't bored the socks off you!

Thanks for the visit.

Enjoy!

Give Thanks

This month is flying by.  It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just a few days away.  I didn't send out as many Thanksgiving cards as I had hoped.  Life and two little boys tend to take more time than I plan. But I give thanks for them too.  They'll be grown soon enough and, hopefully, I'll be able to enjoy more time for papercrafting.  Unless God has other plans for me.

It's so hard to get a good picture of a white or vanilla card.  I'm sorry this looks so dark.  Seems like it's either too dark or too glaring!

Lots of challenges for this card....

Fall or Thanksgiving Theme

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project with "Leaves".
  2. Or Make a project saying "Thank You".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Thank You project with Leaves".

Thank You or Thanksgiving

The still life stamp is borrowed from a Friend's stash, the sentiment a beloved oldie from my own. The paper is from the scrap box and the ribbon, one of my all time favorites was in the ribbon scrap box.

I was going to put this in at CASology, but the linky closed before I could get it in there.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Gifts of the Earth, Happy Harmony (both retired)
Ink:  Jet Black StazOn, Cajun Craze, SU Markers (Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Midnight Muse, Sahara Sand)
Paper:  Very Vanilla, DSP
Other:  Decorative Label Punch, Dusty Durango Polka Dot Ribbon, Dimensionals

You may have noticed some changes on my blog.  I loved that last blogging template  but it was looking really funky where I copied and pasted.  I couldn't figure out how to get the white highlights out.  The highlight button up top didn't do anything.  Anyway, I changed the template.  And channged it again.  I don't know if I'm totally satisfied yet, but I was ready for a change.   I hope this is the last change for now.  Or maybe not... And thanks Darnell for the tips on getting the tabs at the top.  One of these days I'm going to get that fixed.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  Thanks for spending some of it with me.

Enjoy!

Traditional Touches Times Two

Try saying that three times fast!

Here's the first one.

Retrosketch provided the layout.  I flipped it.

And while I was at it...

The colors are from the Color Challenge at SCS this week.

Tempting Turquoise ---- Pear Pizazz ----- Gumball Green
Dessert is Washi tape.

I still don't have any Washi tape and I'm too lazy busy to make any of the faux tape.

This was a big step for me to use Turquoise on a Christmas card. And no red.

I used quite a few snippets, so I'll skip over the the playground at Pixies Crafty Workshop and do some sharing there.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe (card 1)

Other:  Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Island Indigo Baker's Twine (died Tempting Turquoise), Crystal Effects (card 1), Basic Pearls, Branch Punch (MS)

Fond Winter Memories

I grew up in New England and have many fond memories of sledding.  We lived at the base of a mountain and could pretty much sled from the front door, but usually opted to trek up to the top of a neighboring meadow where we could get a long ride.

I was thinking about using the Remember When stamp on the inside and sending this to my brother.  We shared many an hour playing in the snow.  He still gets to play in the snow, although I doubt that shoveling counts as play in his book!

Dynamic Duos had perfect colors for a simple card with this image.

I used a new embossing folder that I dearly love because it looks just like softly falling snow.  Thanks Susan for leading me to it.

I probably should have used some of the Cherry Cobbler decorative paper for a layer,  but opted for a simple layout instead.  Am I the only one that has to force myself to use DP?

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Winter Memories
Ink:  Jet Black StazOn, SU Markers (Sahara Sand, Cherry Cobbler)
Paper:  Sahara Sand, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Other:  Blender Pen, Snowflake EF (Cuttlebug)

I'm glad you stopped by and especially glad when you leave me a comment so I can be sure to return the hello.

Enjoy!

Autumn Wreath

A couple years ago I saw this card  and this card  on my friend Doris' blog.  I asked her for details on these stamps and she kindly sent me a link.  The company is in NC and not too far from me.

CASology #19 is....

Let me know if you would like more information on this card!  (Be sure you leave me an email link to get back to you.)

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope to see you again soon.

Leaves and Banners

I had an hour and an idea! Squee!

The Paper Players are having a color challenge this week.  These are the colors that Anne Marie chose.

Aren't these fabulous colors for Fall cards?

The CAS challenge at SCS is to use the sketch from this card by va.sunshine.  I turned my banners and added some leaves.  It veers off from the sketch some, but I hope it's close enough.

I used the Rock n' Roll Technique to ink the leaves, using More Mustard first and rockin' & rollin' Old Olive and Bravo Burgundy.  The littlest leaf was inked with just Bravo Burgundy.

I'll wander over to Pixie's Crafty Worshop #46 to see what kind of mischief is going on in the playground since I used some snippets from the bottomless decorative paper box for the banners and scraps of Whisper White for the leaves.   I've heard something about wet paint on the playground?  If you go over for a visit, watch where you sit!

Thanks for stopping by.  Let me know what that you came so I can pay you a visit too.

Enjoy!

Merry Monday Jolly Little Wreathes

It's another Merry Monday.

Here's Lesley's terrific sketch for this week.

I inked the little wreath with my SU Markers, using the Real Red on the berries first.  The bow is from the Joyous Celebrations set and fussy cut after it was stamped.

Just wait until you see the rest of the Design Team's cards!
