More Petals

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I posted the other card made with this set, I mentioned the tip Michele
gave me.  It was actually a link to a YouTube video that Therese did.
You can watch her video here.

The flowers were stenciled on mixed media paper then die cut.  By using mixed
media paper, I could blend the colors a bit with a damp waterbrush.

Wild Wood Thank You

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It looks like it's going to be a hot week.  I'll be spending a lot of time in
the craft room trying to stay cool.

When I saw Amy's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, I immediately though of the
wood slices from Papertrey Ink's Wild Wood set.  It was a perfect way to use
up some of those little scraps of cardstock left over from past projects.

It didn't take long to do a bit on inking on the flowers, leaves and wood slice.
Those little bees take more time, but they are so worth it.

Speaking of bees.  We still aren't seeing any bees on the lantana.  We've had a few
butterflies but no bees.  We're worried about what's happened to the bees!

Challenges:
Inkspirational #329 - Use Leftovers

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Bouquet of Thanks (MFT)
Ink:   Baked Brown Sugar
Paper: Neenah Natural, Scraps from scrap bag
Other:  Into the Blooms: Wild Wood, Burlap EF

Enjoy!

Petals

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've had these Petal Perfection stencils and dies for a year now.  I used them once
for this card and always intended to play with them some more.

I really like how the stenciling goes to the edge of the dies!

I'm trying to work on my stenciling techniques.  I fear I still have a way to go, but
Michele's tip on using the Misti is a big help.  Now to get control of the coloring!

I used mixed media paper for these flowers and stenciled a set in yellow and one
in pink.  I used mixed media paper just in case the coloring didn't turn out so well.
Sometimes a damp brush works good to smooth the color.

I put a few of the flowers in a vase and mounted the bouquet on a piece of
embossed vellum that had been in the drawer waiting for just the right card.

Challenges:
Just Us Girls #828 - Mood Board Below (Flowers)
Pinkfresh Studio June Challenge - Flutters & Florals (have PFS florals)
Seize the Birthday #328 - Use Acetate or Vellum (Vellum)

Card Recipe

Ink:   Garden Green, Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness (DI)
Paper:   Mixed Media (Strathmore), Vellum, Neenah Solar White
Other:  Petal Perfection stencils & die (PFS), Vase Collection 1 (PTI), Texture Fades Botanical EF (TH)

Christmas Postage

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I didn't get into the postage stamp craze.  I would have liked to but
I had just bought the Greetery Curio dies and couldn't justify it.

But my friend Nance got the postage stamp dies and stencils and was
nice enough to bring them to a couple of our playdates.

She had an extra gift set of these little poinsettias and shared them with me.
That was a year ago or two?

They got set aside and I found them last week.  They were a perfect fit for
Narelle's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

It's pretty self explanatory.  I used Encore gold for the centers and dots and
heat embossed with gold powder so they have some shine.  The sentiment
is gold embossed too.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Easy Holiday Expressions (Ton)
Ink:   Encore Gold, Real Red, Garden Green
Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Postage Stamp & Poinsettia Stencil & die (Waffleflower), Easy Holiday Expressions die (Ton), Gold EP, Subtle EF (ret SU)

Enjoy!

More Birdies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I made this card, I die cut a couple sets of birdies and they
needed a home.  So for some Friday fun,  I'm playing with these 'tweet' birdies.

Three found their way on this card.  I die cut the frame from patterned paper with
a very subtle pattern and popped that over some embossed leaves.

Two more found their way to welcome a new baby.  I rarely need a baby card, but
my daughters ask for one once in awhile.  That yellow cardstock was a gift from a
friend.  I love this light, bright shade and will be sad when it's all gone.  Fortunately
she gave me several 12 x 12 sheets.

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Rosemal Reflections (Grtry)
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, DP (?)
Other:  Birdies die (SSS), Leafy EF (SB), Mini Slimline die (SSS)

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:  Welcome Baby (?)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Yellow Texture (?), DP (?)
Other:  Birdies die (SSS), Square Peek-a-boo Window die (MFT)

I even added a bit of stenciling.

Three Birdies for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for another challenge from Color Hues!

This month Carol picked one of my favorite combination!  She chose....

My first thought was to go with bees.  But I'd done a bee recently.  Then I saw my
friend Leslie's adorable birdie card.  It sent me shopping immediately (thanks for the
enabling, my friend.  Like Leslie, I die cut the birds from patterned paper.

The dies cut six different birdies and I only used three here.  You'll be seeing
more of them pop up from time to time.  I had such a good time playing with them!

Now let's go and see what my talented friends and our
fantastic Guest Designers Barbara Campbell & Diana Karlova have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Yellow & Black and add it to the gallery at

Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on June 29th.

The winners will be posted an hour before our next challenge and the overall
winner will have the opportunity to be a future Guest Designer.

Most importantly, just have fun!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Nature's Dance (SB)
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Paper: Neenah Solar White, Black, PP (?)
Other:  Birdies die (SSS), Leafy EF (SB), Nature's Dance die (SB), A2 Thin Frames die (SSS)

Deer to Me

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Ooh, it's been hot.  The air conditioner is having trouble keeping the heat
at bay upstairs in my craft room.  But I managed to get a card done.

Michele's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches nearly stumped me.
I think I made it harder on myself because I needed to make an anniversary card
for my DH.  We have been married a l-o-n-g time and that anniversary is looming!

Here's the sketch

I remembered a pad of decorative paper that has some pretty scenes in it and looked
through to see if I could find one that would work.

It took a couple of tries, but I found one that worked and cut it up and rearranged it
to make some hills with a sunrise/sunset over the hills.

Then there was the problem of finding a die cut to go with it.  My only tree die
didn't work, but these deer did.  I had to do a little surgery on one of them as one is
supposed to be me and she deer don't have antlers.

Once I got the hills figured out the rest was easy.  A little sponging on the deer
was all that was needed.

In the end, I'm happy with the card and enjoyed the challenge.
Thanks, Michele!

Now I'd better get it over to Freshly Made Sketches before they lock the door.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Bouquet of Thanks (SSS)
Ink:   Whisper White, Brushed Corduroy, Gathered Twigs (DOX)
Paper:   Thoughtful Journey DSP (SU), Natural (MFT)
Other:  Deer to Me dies (PTI), White EP

Enjoy!

CAS Christmas Birds

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I am so happy to see that my dear friend Loll has brought back the
CAS Christmas Challenge!

I was so excited that I made two cards with this new to me Alex Siberia set.

First up, I also used a NBUS Molded Frame embossing folder.

I die cut the bird and greenery from mixed media paper and used Distress Re-inkers
to color the bird and Twi-markers and my waterbrush for the greenery.
The berries were punched from a scrap of red cardstock.

This time I die cut the bird from Real Red cardstock and sponged a darker
red on the edges.  The leaves were colored with a sponge dauber and Distress Ink.

I die cut a label and used a pierced cover plate die with a frame to
mount this one.  Kind of the same but different and a good addition
to my Christmas stash.

Challenges:
ABC Christmas - J is for Just Enough (CAS)
NBUS #87 - Never Before Used Schtuff - Bird die

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Sparkle & Shine (GKD)
Ink:   Real Red,
Paper:   Neensh Solar White, Real Red
Other:  Garden Tweets, Winter Foliage (AS),  Molded Frame EF (SB), Distress Re-inkers (Candied Apple, Barn Door, Fired Brick), Arteza Twi-markers (Sage Green, Olive Green, Pine Green, Moss Green)

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:  Sparkle & Shine (GKD)
Ink:   Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler (SU), Bundled Sage, Rustic Wilderness (DI)
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Real Red
