Happy Fall

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm so excited that Fall is here!  I love the colors and the smells of fallen leaves.

Not much color here but leaves are falling.  They're mostly yellow and brown. Hopefully

some cooler weather will encourage brighter colors.

I recently had a gathering of stamping with friends and this was one of the cards

we did.  I added a butterfly to this one since it will go to my aunt.  She loves butterflies!

I used a new to me pumpkin die from Penny Black and die cut from  yellow cardstock 

and cut the flowers from the same piece.  We brushed color around the edges leaving

it lighter in the center.  It was all placed on a new to me embossing folder.

I'm so glad to lighten the load in the NBUS box!

Feathers for Fun

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Last week I designed some cards for friends and had some leftover feathers.

So I put them on some cards for my Friday fun this week.

This is very similar to the cards the group did.  I had some cork paper that had

been given to me.  It has flecks of copper in it.  There was also some pretty but

lightweight copper paper.  When the light hits this, the copper glows.

My sister and brother-in-law have an anniversary coming up soon and I thought

the feathers would make a nice anniversary card.  So I added some copper thread

from my stash and punched some tiny hearts from scraps of the copper paper, 

gluing them onto the thread.

And another....

I put the feathers going in the opposite direction.  It started out with just three

feathers, but it kinda looked like I was giving the finger so I tucked an extra gold

feather in the middle. LOL

Purple and Artichoke for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at Color Hues.

This month Sheri picked our colors.  She chose....

I die cut and watercolored one of my favorite flower dies from Canson watercolor paper

and colored with re-inkers.  I really like these colors together, especially for flowers!

A two layered Elegant frame over a piece of embossing made a good 

place to mount this flower.

Now let's go and see what my talented friends and our

fantastic Guest Designer Amanda have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Purple & Artichoke and add it to the gallery at

Color Hues.

Star of Wonder

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you had a nice weekend.  We had some much needed rain and the 

promise of a couple of cooler and less humid days.  I'm looking forward to that.

Karren's Freshly Made Sketch #753 has so many possibilities!

I've always loved this star.  It's one of those retired Stampin' Up sets that I haven't

been able to part with.  I hope I've captured some of the shine.

The star an sentiment are heat embossed with silver and I've added a shadow of

silver foil behind them.  I had another silver label and added it behind the

star to make it stand out a little better.  I do love a mostly white card!

I know the team has wonderful inspiration. Now I'm going to check out the gallery.

I'm sure it's just as inspiring!

In Full Bloom for Fall

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Today is a the anniversary of a sad and frightening day in our country.

Remembering those who lost their lives and those who survived the horrors.

On a more cheerful note....

This stamp has been in my NBUS box for too long.  I finally ordered the die set to

go with it and gave it a go.

I inked the stamp with Concord & 9th inks on watercolor paper and after stamping, 

did a bit of blending with a waterbrush.  After it dried, I used a watercolor pencil to

add a little detail, die cut and layered a couple of the flowers.

It was a perfect fit with the embossed Molded Frame.

The sentiment is from the same set.

A twofer....

Last month our Craft Group picked some flowers from Kim's pots and pounded them

into watercolor paper.  I have done a similar technique using the Big Shot.  In some ways 

this worked better.  It didn't seem to be as messy.  This was the best of the three that

I tried to do.  Kim suggested touching it up with fine line pens, pencils or markers.  I

used pencils and a very fine Micron pen.  After masking the flowers, I used one of

the stems from the above stamp set and went over it with a damp watercolor brush

to diffuse the color a bit.  It's all mounted on a smooshed watercolor base.

Thankful

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm really enjoying fall colors these days and the cooler temperatures

and less humidity.  These kind of days seem to be rare and appreciated.

Last month's calendar page paired well with this copper Thankful.  After I die

cut the calendar illustration, I embossed it with the Subtle EF.

One less thing in the UFO box.  That's always a good thing.

Leaf Ring New Home

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Whew, it's been a busy weekend but I managed to get a card done.

When I saw Narelle's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, I immediately thought of this

die in my NBUS box.  I do love a wreath and keep one on my front door.  I guess it's 

time to change it up for fall.  But today, it's a wreath to wish blessings on a new home.

The embossed background was done with a long retired Stampin' Up embossing folder.

The wreath was cut from Neenah Solar White and colored with a couple of Copics.

I cut the bow from a scrap of Calypso Coral and added a bit of ink in the center.

The camera says it's red, but my eyes say it's coral.

It will be on it's way as soon as I get the new address.

Butterflies for Fun

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

In my quest for the dusty blue and brown that I was looking for at Color Hues, I

made several cards using a Penny Black Butterfly.  I was really hung up on

that butterfly and not satisfied that it was what I wanted.

Here they are...

First I tried a piece of alcohol ink.  It has some blue, brown and gold.

I stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne and clear embossed before fussy cutting.

It's okay.

Next I embossed with copper and colored with Ohuhu markers.  Too dark so I tried 

some splatters.  Actually the splatters went well, but the blue was too dark for dusty blue.

So I stamped in brown and colored with Ohuhu markers using a flicking motion instead

of filling in with color and blending.  Once it was dry, I patted it with VersaMark 

and heat embossed with clear powder.

Then I gave up and made this card.

If you've stayed with me this long, I have another sort of butterfly to share from my garden.

It's a hummingbird moth.  He was constantly moving so hard to get a photo.

I'd never seen one before, just pictures.

Cheerful Flowers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My friend Nance came to play recently.  She always brings a stack of 

her new goodies to share.

One of the things she brought was a stencil and die set from Waffle Flower and

some pretty arched dies.

I went very simple with the stencil and just used one color so I could concentrate

on the visit and not the stenciling.  The whimsical flower was die cut from Neenah

Solar White and I used brushes and ink to color it.  The die set is 2 pieces, an outline

and the solid flower.  I tried to keep the outline a bit lighter on the flower.

The sentiment was cut from a scrap of Nectar cardstock and brushed with 

Grapefruit & Pimento ink for ombre look. I kept the shadow background white.

Dusy Blue and Brown for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Even though I struggled to find the right shade of blue, I ended up with 

several cards for my stash.

This month Nancy picked our colors.  She chose....

A sweet friend recently sent me a box of cardmaking goodies and this sweet stamp

was in there.  I was so excited.  It had been on my wishlist for quite a while.

I stamped it with Memento Toffee Crunch on Betterpress paper and used my

Zigs and waterbrush to color it.  The snow sparkles with Wink of Stella.  I'm not

sure why the camera saw grey.  Some chunky Frantage was heated from the back

for some snowfall.

A twofer for today.....

There were also some embossing folders in that box.  You know how much I love

embossing folders!  I still haven't tried them all out.  It's fun to have that to look

forward to!    This one embossed a strip and I had this circle aperture sitting

on the table that worked good to show off the embossing.  I used blending 

brushes to color the embossing.  The dragonfly was all done and waiting for

a place to land.  I like having a variety of sympathy cards in my stash.

fantastic Guest Designer Michele have done to inspire you.
