Velvet Star

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've had another chance to play with that velvet paper.
I remembered that I had a sheet of similar paper in white that came in a
kit several years ago.  I put them together and came up with this card.

I was inspired by the Mood Board at the Peace on Earth Challenge.

I love the red and white and spotted those sweet stars in the top right corner.
Originally I was going to cut a red plaid star and discovered the back side of the
paper would be perfect to hang a star from.  So I went with the velvet paper.

There are already pine branches on the paper but I wanted more so I stamped
some with an old wood mount stamp.

I spent far too much time trying different sentiments and finally gave up and
went without.  Maybe I'll discover the perfect one before it goes out.  There's a little
bit of time to figure that out.

Challenges:
ABC Christmas:  A is for ATG Christmas, B is for Bright
Peace on Earth #105: Inspired by the Stars in the upper right and the red and white on upper left

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Pine Branch (Inkadinkadoo)
Ink:   Shaded Spruce
Paper:   Kraft, Gray Texture (?), Velvet (AZ & SSS), Patterned Paper (Scrapbook Customs)
Other:  Stitched Star Basic (Dress My Craft), A2 Thin Frames, Linen Thread

Enjoy!

Shortbread Shapes Love

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been having fun with a NBUS embossing folder.

I kept to a simple color pattern for this valentine adding a primitive heart
and a Cheery Lynn fern.  The tiny gems add just a bit of bling.

Next up....

This time I embossed some Cotton Candy cardstock and patted over the embossing
with a white pigment ink pad.  You can really see that lovely snowflake design.

I added a white Glimmer bow and love die cut and butterfly cut from Rose Glimmer.

Last but not least....

Along the same lines, I made a  card for friends planning a Valentine Wedding.
The bride has chosen royal blue and silver for the wedding colors.

It's a large embossing folder and I made this card 5 x 7 so I could use the whole thing.

The heart was cut from an older die and backed with vellum.  The bow and
sentiment were cut from blue foil.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - Use embossing folder (Did not use the twist of all white)
NBUS #83 - Never Before Used Schtuff

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Love Always (Stampendous)

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:

Paper:   Cotton Candy, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer, Rose Glimmer (SU)

Card Recipe (card 3)

Velvet Valentine

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My friend Marcia is always enticing and enabling me.  When she posted this card,
I had to email her and ask for a link to this velvety paper.
Of course being the sweet friend that she is, she quickly sent it to me.

Thanks, my friend.

I cut a piece in quarters and added one piece to some 80 pound Neenah and
cut a heart.  Some gold foil worked great for the scalloped heart to
CASE Marcia's card.

I embossed the red heart but it doesn't show in the photo.  It feels good too.
It's so soft and velvety.  I do love texture!

I used Jen M.'s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for my layout.

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Black, Gold Foil, Velvet Paper (AZ)
Other:  Nested Hearts & Nested Scalloped Hearts (Scrapbook.Com), Large Words EF (Kwan Crafts), Small Love You die (SSS), Subtle EF (ret SU), Park Lane Vines EF

Enjoy!

Red and Pink for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at Color Hues.

This month Julie B. picked our colors.  She chose....

This bear die had been sitting in my NBUS box for almost a year.  I had intended to
use it during Christmas, but never go to it.

Lucky for me it works great for Julie's challenge and for a valentine
for one of the grandchildren.

I die cut the pieces from scraps of cardstock.  Her sweater was embossed with
hearts and then I covered it up with arms.  Her scarf is red glimmer paper and the
heart (which covers a divot in the front) is cut from rose glimmer paper.

Now let's go and see what my talented friends and our
fantastic Guest Designer, my friend JoAnn, have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Red & Pink and add it to the gallery at

Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on February 14th.

Also joining in at Darnell's NBUS Challenge - Never Before Used Schtuff

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Mandala Blossoms (SSS)
Ink:   Real Red, Cherry Cobbler
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Cotton Candy (SSS), Rustic White (PTI), Red Glimmer, Rose Glimmer (ret SU), Woodgrain (TH), Black, Grout Gray (MFT)
Other:  Festive Friends dies (SB), Stitched Squares die (SSS), Triple Heart Punch (ret SU)

Happy Birthday Luke

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you are all still safe and warm.  It looks like we may
get another punch of winter weather.  Ooph!

That little guy that we spent our days with when I retired has grown up.
It doesn't seem possible that he is a man now!

I used the Monarch size for his birthday card, cutting it a little bigger to
allow for a pocket inside to hold some cash.

The streamers and trophy dies are from the Greetery and I used scraps of
cardstock and gold foil to cut them from.  All are placed on a Happy Birthday
embossed background.

Here's a peek at the inside.

I'll tuck a piece of money into the pocket before we give it to him.

Challenges:
Seize the Birthday #319 - Topping of Rainbow Colors

Ink:   A rainbow of colors

Winter Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

So far our storm has produced sleet and not a lot of freezing rain.
We are warm and still have power.  As I write this the precipitation has
started again.  They are predicting freezing rain again.  Hopefully it won't
cause problems for us.  However, this storm has caused a lot of problems
all across the country.  Prayers go out to those without power in these
freezing conditions.

So today was a crafting day...

I am still enjoying those Greetery dies and embossing folders that I got
for Christmas.

The die cut oval was embossed with the center of the Shortbread Shapes Snowflake.
I patted over the embossing with a white inkpad to highlight the snowflakes and
added a tiny snowflake sequin to the center.

Challenges:
AAA Birthday Game #81 - Winter Birthday
Krafty Chicks #804 - Masculine Card
Time Out Chllenges #305 - Your favorite technique (embossing)

Petal Perfection

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The weather reports are all predicting some really cold temperatures
and freezing precipitation over much of the United States.  We are as
prepared as we can be and expecting freezing rain.  Hopefully we won't lose
power but in case we do, I'm posting this card now.

I used Jen T.'s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches to make a birthday card for
my sister-in-law.

I used the stencil from the Petal Perfection stencil and die set to color some
flowers and die cut them to arrange in place of the circles in Jen's sketch.

Since I used a stencil, I'll share this at Just Us Girls where Bobby is asking for
anything using a stencil.

I pray that we all stay safe through this storm and maybe get some
crafty time during it.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Banner Sentiments (PTI)
Ink:   Elegant Eggplant, Wilted Violet, Bundled Sage
Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Large Words EF (Kwan Crafts), Petal Perfection Stencils and Die (PFS)

Enjoy!

Snowman Hugs

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We finally had a little snowstorm.  It lasted about 10 minutes.
It was so pretty!

Not enough for a snowman so I had to go with paper.

I found some blues in my background box.  I think they were mop ups, but I
hadn't written down what I did.

I cut an oval and embossed it then swiped some white ink over the raised snowflakes.

This little bundled snowman was a Christmas present.

The layout is Judy's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from Inkspirational.

The flowers were cut from mixed media paper and colored with re-inkers.
