Tangled Tulips

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Are tulips blooming where you are?  They've gone by here, but
they bloom on in the Craft Room.

I've paired them with my Rosemal Reflections embossing folder for a special
birthday card.  It's very similar to the one that I did for my granddaughter's birthday.
Her aunts oohed and aahed over that, so this one will go to one of her aunts.

I cut all the flower pieces from Neenah Solar White and colored with Copics.
Sorry, but I didn't note the colors.  Sometimes I keep trying a color and then pull
out another and before long, they are all over the table.

Challenges:
NBUS #86 - Never Before Used Schtuff - Tangled Tulips Details die
Seize the Birthday #325 - Primarily Pink

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Rosemal Reflections (Grtry)
Ink:  Morning Mist (VC)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Cotton Candy (SSS)
Other:  Rosemal Reflections EF, Tangled Tulips Details dies, Capsul Basics die (all Grtry)
Enjoy!

Poppy Trio

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm excited to be Guest Designing with the Inspiration Team at
Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

The theme is always Anything Goes using Penny Black products as your main focus.
The option this month is to use your favorite Penny Black stamp.  That's a bit
like asking which is your favorite child!  But my mind went directly to this stamp
that has been in my collection for a long time.  I don't think I'd used it in over
ten years.  It was time to dust it off!

I stamped it on mixed media paper with Memento Toffee Crunch ink for a
no-line watercolor look and colored with Zigs.  I used a Copic Multiliner for
the centers.

I tried to plant the poppies in dirt and it didn't go well.  Hence the "cover up"
piece at the bottom.  It made a good place for the sentiment though.

I'm going over to the Penny Black Saturday Challenge and see what that
fabulous Design Team has done to inspire us.  I hope you'll check it out too.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Poppy Trio, Carefree Wishes (PB)
Ink:   Memento Toffee Crunch & Tuxedo Black
Paper:   Mixed Media (Strathmore)
Other:  Black Copic Miltiliner, Zigs (Pale Pink, Tea Rose, Lt. Carmine, Scarlet Red, Pale Green, Mid Green, Deep Green), Curved Stitch die (PB), Bright Butterfly die (SSS)

Enjoy!

Yellow and Blue for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at Color Hues.

This month our super talented Stef picked our colors.  She chose....

I've used another fun image from  Unity.  I hope he makes you smile as
easily as he makes me!

I stamped with Versafine ink and heat embossed with clear powder to
give him a shiny coat.  Copic markers were used for the coloring.  The yellow
paper may have come from Unity.  They often enclose some card size pieces
with their orders. The sentiment is from Rubbernecker.

Now let's go and see what my talented friends and our
fantastic Guest Designer Greta. have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Yellow and Blue and add it to the gallery at

Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on May 14th.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Peek-a-Bee (Unity), Uplifting Phrases (Rubbernecker)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black, Blueberry Bushel

Dreamy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I used some patterned paper!

Those of you that visit often know that I rarely use patterned paper.
Oh, I buy it.  But it's so hard for me to cut into it.  This was a strip left over
from a previous project. The only cutting required was a bit off the bottom.
No heart palpitations or breath holding required!

I used Jen T.'s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #733

This is a great sketch to use those leftover strips of paper!

Thanks Jen, for challenging me out of my comfort zone.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Advent Calendar 2023
Ink:   Royal (SSS)
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Botanical Blooms (Paper Rose)
Other:  Dreamy Butterfly die (MB), Large Words EF (Kwan Crafts)

Bluebird Hello

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My friend Nance  came to play last week.  It's always fun to catch up and
play with each other's toys!  Nance had a treasure trove of things for me to try.
I actually have a completed card from our playdate!

This bird die came from Waffle Flower (I think) and has a stencil with it.  I'm terrible at
stenciling but wanted to give it a try.  It went pretty well this time.  I perched him on
a leaf that was die cut from an Alex Syberia die and used one of Nance's new
embossing folders to frame it all.

Thanks for a fun day, my friend.  Let's do it again soon!

Challenges:
Just Us Girls #820 - ATG using a stencil (bird)
Stencil Fun - ATG using a stencil

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Soft Seedlings (SU)
Ink:   Faded Jeans, Dried Marigold, Rustic Wilderness (DI), Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Soft Seafoam
Other:  Birdie Duo die (WF), Whimsy Blooms Bouquet die (AS), EF (?)

Enjoy!

Strawberries

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We're getting fresh strawberries right now.  It seems like it's much earlier
than we used to get them.  That doesn't keep us from enjoying them

It's no wonder when I saw Michelle L.'s sketch at
that strawberries popped into my mind.  Here's the sketch....

I've used the leaves to represent the largest circle, the strawberries for the lowest circle,
and the flowers for the top circle.  Looking at the sketch again, I think one flower would
have been enough.  Too late now.

I hope I haven't veered too far off the sketch!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Berry Blessings (ret SU)
Ink:   Handsome Hunter
Paper:   Neenah Solar White

More Cherry Blossoms

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

After I made this card, I kept on playing with the embossing folder and die set.
No challenges, just the result of some relaxing fun.

Using Donna's sketch again.  I cut the rectangles from pink paper and inked
the raised flowers with a darker shade of pink ink.

This background was  done the same way of the previous card with the addition
of a few die cut and embossed blossoms along with a sweet butterfly.

This time I patted a white pigment ink pad over the raised embossing on medium blue.

The buttercups in the lawn inspired this one.

Coral and Green for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at Color Hues.

This month Sheri picked our colors.  She chose....

I recently got a new fancy die.  It's a background die with additional dies for the flowers.

I die cut the background and enough of the flowers to add to the top and colored
all with Distress re-inkers used as watercolor.

When it was all painted and dried, I put the flowers together (isn't the dimension fantastic?)
and added the flowers over top.  Then I added it to a
card base with dimensionals for a 'floating frame'.

Now let's go and see what my talented friends and our
fantastic Guest Designer Kelly have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Coral & Green and add it to the gallery at

Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on April 29th.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Special Sentiments (PB)
Ink:
Paper:  Mixed Media (Strathmore), Neenah Solar White
Other:  Bold Backgrounds: Vintage Roses (HB), Distress Re-inkers (Abandoned Coral, Peeled Paint, Twisted Citron)

Enjoy!

Cherry Blossoms

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you had a nice weekend and found some time to get creative.

This card was made with a new Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and die set.

I love being able to get the embossed details in the die cuts and when they
offered a discount on their embossing folders, I gave in to the temptation.

I thought that Donna's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches would be a good
fit for these little blooms.

Here's her sketch....

I used the smallest stitched rectangle die and cut six from Solar White Cardstock.
Then on to the embossing folder.  The die cuts three so I cut once from mixed
media paper and colored with Distress Re-inkers used as watercolor.  The leaves
were from another die.

After the flowers had dried, I used a white gel pen to highlight details and a
tiny gem for the center to tie the flowers to the sentiment strip.

Challenges:
Freshly Made Sketches #731 - sketch by Donna
NBUS #85 - Never Before Used Schtuff - Embossing folder and die

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sentiment Strips (Alt)
Ink:   Whisper White
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Mixed Media (Strathmore)
Other:  Cherry Blossoms EF & Die (SSS), Distress re-inkers (Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron), Subtle EF, Stitched Rectangles die (SSS), Fantasy Bouquet die (SSS)

Enjoy!
