Remembrance Poppy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Today I'm playing cards with my dear friend, Michele (I Card Everyone).

This is our challenge....

·         Memorial Day  - in memory of someone

·         Poppies – any brand

·         Must include a die cut – may be a word, the poppy, or even a frame

·         Friendship card

I am remembering my childhood friend who passed away from cancer many years ago.
She is still close in my heart.  We shared so many happy times together.

My poppy is from Hero Arts and it was inked with Tombow markers.  I used a waterbrush
to move the color around adding swipes on a palette to pick up and add where
I needed more color.  My Caron d'ache pencils work well to add extra depth and
definition to the flowers.

I have the die too, but chose to use a
die cut thin frame instead.

I am so thankful for friends I've lost and friends that share my life now.
That includes Michele and all of you dear friends.

I can't wait to how Michele has answered this challenge.
Let's go look, shall we?

Cupcakes for Twofer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for another Twofer Challenge!

My first card is either a late Valentine or I'm way ahead for next year.

I used a bubble background from a playdate with Jack.

We put a little dish soap in a cup of water and added some drops of food coloring!
When you lay a piece of cardstock on the bubbles, you get a wonderful, fun background!

I stamped the cupcake with the letters on the background then stamped again
on some pattern paper so I could paper piece the cupcake.

For my Twofer...

I stamped the cupcake, heat embossed it and colored with Copics.

Shaker cards are always a challenge but fun to give, so I decided to tackle it.

The sequins don't want to shake around much.  I think all but two are stuck
to the edges.  Some of the shakers are stuck to the cupcake intentionally.
Some are not.

The background was embossed with a die.

There's some shimmery sugar on the icing.  Unfortunately the acetate and
shimmer together wouldn't cooperate for a good photo.

I was happy with how the Happy Birthday circle fit in the aperture.

I can't wait for you to see what our Guest Designers and talented Design Team
have done for your amazement and inspiration.

Hope to see your cakes and/or cupcakes in the gallery!

And if you'd like to join in a fun recipe exchange, feel free to add
your favorite cake or cupcake recipe to your post when you play!

I used to bake cakes and cupcakes all the time (me and Duncan Hines that is).
Then I was introduced to card making and the cakes and cupcakes were left behind.

Once a year I bake my hubby's favorite pound cake.
You can see my cake recipe below my card recipe at the bottom of this post.

Guest Designing for Christmas Kickstart

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm excited to be Guest Designing for  the 50th Christmas Kickstart Challenge!

This month's challenge is Santa and Friends and I had the perfect stamp for  it.

The party has been stamped with Memento ink and colored with
Copic Sketch Markers.

I smiled the whole time I was working on this, except when
I tried to splatter snow in the background and got a glob in the wrong place. Grrr!
I was quite disheartened, thinking I'd have to start over, but those
snowflake sequins came to the rescue.

Lost Coast Designs is providing a prize for this challenge.

Hope to see you in the gallery!

Rainbow Inking for CAS Mix Up

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for another challenge at CAS Mix Up!

Our hostess this month is my talented friend, Susan and for our Stencilng Challenge
 she chose...

I used a NBUS stencil from Studio Katia and inked through it with
Distress Inks.  The strings were stamped in the same colors.

The piece was die cut with a stitched rectangle and I added a narrow matting of
green.  The sentiment is heat embossed on a snippet of black cardstock and
popped up with dimensionals.

She and the Design Team have some awesome inspiration for you.
I hope you'll check them out and join us.
