A very special friend is celebrating her wedding anniversary today. And a few of us wanted to let her know how special she is to all of us. So Happy Anniversary, Darnell (and Kevin too). May you have many more wonderful years together. Mwahh!
Darnell recently posted a wedding picture and some of the gals thought it would be fun to dig out our wedding pictures to post. Hubby and I eloped and don't have any pictures. I wore hot pants, he wore Levi's. We didn't have much of a honeymoon either. We got married on a Friday and he started a new job on Monday. On Tuesday he had to leave to cruise timber in the Dismal Swamp for several weeks. My first week of married life was spent with my MIL and SIL. The second and third weeks I stayed by myself with about a million ants that decided they wanted to move in with me. He got to spend all 3 weeks with snakes and mosquitoes. I was a New England girl in North Carolina and totally lost. But I was blessed with wonderful neighbors that looked out for me. And really glad when hubby could come home to stay. Ah, the good old days.
I imagine that's more than you stopped by for. So here's the card information.
All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted
Card Recipe
Stamps: Loving Thoughts
Ink: Encore Silver
Paper: Whisper White
Other: Silver EP, Lace Ribbon Border (retired but still available on the Clearance Rack), White Satin Ribbon (retired), Basic Rhinestones, Silver Cord (from my gift wrap stash)
This card was super quick until I decided to add the silver cord with the satin ribbon. It took longer to tie the knot (pardon the pun) than it did to make the rest of the card. It made the card a little more special so it was worth the time.
I hope you'll go visit Darnell. You'll see why we all love her.
Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy!

Absolutely fabulous Bonnie - and just perfect for our Darnell!
I picked up a trick from Jules, which you might have used anyhow on this gorgeous card. After tying the satin bow or knot - thread a bodkin with the cord and then wiggle it underneath the satin knot.
A bodkin is just a very large needle with a blunt end and a very big eye BTW - but then you probably know that.
Fancy you eloping - truly romantic, despite the ants!
Hugs, Di xx
Beautiful card to wish Darnell and her hubby a wonderful anniversary. I loved your 'good old days' story. That was a lot for a newlywed to go through. LOL
A gorgeous anniversary card, Bonnie! Loved your wedding/honeymoon story, too. When my hubby and I got married, we set up our first apartment with folding lawn chairs in the living room. Ah, yes, the good old days. :-)
Love the lacy feel of the card with teh punched border and lovely touch with the bling.
LOVE your story! Want to learn more :) Thanks for sharing and what a wonderful tribute to making the right choice despite the circumstances of those first few weeks!
Ohhhhh, this card is simply GORGEOUS, Bonnie!! I so love it!! And I checked out Darnell's blog too--what a fun place to hang out and be inspired!
And I so know what you mean by New England girl in NC. My family moved from Michigan to SC. No ants, but those lovely critters known as Palmetto Bugs scared the trash out of me!! ;-)
Wow! After a start like that, it must be easy now, right? lol! Thanks for sharing your memories and your beautiful elegant card. And thanks for joining in all the Anniversary Fun, Bonnie!
Beautiful card, Bonnie.....but I really wanted to see a photo of you in those hot pants!!! LOL! How well I remember those things - and actually loved them!
Lynn
It looks really pretty Bonnie. The lace border is fab. x
Beautiful card for Darnell & her handsome "Mister". Your wedding story is quite something ! My scanner isn't working so could not join in the fun with wedding photos. But my we were all young back then ! Hope your week is going well. Shirleyx
Hi Bonnie ... such a beautiful and elegant card. That knot is perfect!! Such a nice tribute to Darnell and Kevin.
What a story about your first few weeks of married life ... lots of challenges - hopefully things have gotten a little easier for you :)
Loll xx
Bonnie, I love this elegant card! Such a beautiful design and highlighted so nicely with your ribbon and silver cord. The rhinestones add such a lovely touch, too.
I love your wedding story...hot pants and Levi's sound a whole lot more comfortable than a frilly wedding dress and a tuxedo!!
Before I forget, I'm so glad Di explained what the hay a bodkin is! W/o the definition, her sentence sounded like one of mine!
Your card is stunning, Bonnie! Thank you so much for making us a special card to celebrate when we 'tied the knot!' I've made a Pinterest board and will add your beautiful card. Thank you, too, for dedicating your post to me and for your sweet comments! It's all been such a delightful surprise and we are quite overwhelmed.
And double-dog-dangit, no pictures?!! You're always telling me I should write a book - girl, it's YOU who should be writing a book! What a total nightmare those first weeks must have been, let's be honest! It's a tribute to you both that you didn't cut and run right then and there!
How about linking up the first picture you do have of the two of you; or one from when you were dating? That would be totally cool, under your circumstances. Okay? Good. You did date, didn't you, or did you just run into each other in the grocery store and go straight to the Elopers, Inc.? Oh, hahaha, I crack myself up. It just seemed to fit the rest of your fascinating story!
Oh, could you send me the month and day of your anni? You will prolly mention it in your post when it happens, but I want to make sure I return the flavor of a congratulations on your special day!
I heart you, too, Bon! Mwah! Darnell
Oh this is magnificent. Love the white on white - so beautiful and I adore the tied knots!
Such a shame you don't have a photo of your marriage - would love to have seen the hot pants :)
Stunning card...absolutely lovely. Wonderful way to wish Darnell & Mr. a Happy Day. Loved reading your wedding story. I think we were made of sterner stuff back then (well maybe it wasn't so far back for you. It IS for US!) Thanks for sharing with your readers. Hugs
your card is beautiful Bonnie-and I loved the memory you shared with all of us-
This is just so elegant! The all white with the touch of silver is gorgeous!!!
Your struggles with the knot on the card were well worth it - the double layer of ribbon/cord adds a lot to an already beautiful card.
I loved the story of your early married life (though the thought of all the ants really gave me the creeps!). I too would love to see a photo from your early days.
Fabulous card, very classy too.
Loved the story about your wedding LOL
What a gorgeous card - WOW! I love how those punched borders look like an elegant embossing folder! Looks like we all had humble beginnings when we first got married :)
Such an interesting story! It made me smile. I think its a pretty wedding card too, in the monochromatic scheme. I had to smile that you and i both posted a similar look for our Wednesday projects.
