Embossed Daisies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A few weeks ago I received an unexpected gift from a sweet, sweet friend.

She had cleaned out her craft room and I was lucky enough to receive the
benefit of her industriousness!  This embossing folder was in the box
along with several others.  I do love embossing folders!

I embossed a piece of my new favorite yellow cardstock and patted my
white inkpad over the raised parts.  I kept turning the piece and patting until
I was happy with the coverage.  Then I took a tiny blending brush and after inking
it, I tapped it on the centers.  Some twine, a sentiment tucked among the flowers
and a die cut bee finished it off nicely.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - Use an embossing folder/twist of bees
Double D - Used the colors of the lemons
Triple B - Birds, Butterflies & Blooms

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Just Sentiments: Summer Mini (PTI)
Ink:   White, Pumpkin Pie (SU), Nocturne (VC)
Paper:   C9 Buttercup, Neenah Solar White
Other:  Fresh Daisies EF (SSS), Buzzing Bumblebees die (MB), Sharpies (to color bee)

Enjoy!

Last of the Geraniums

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Fun Friday uses the last of the geranium die cuts. I think this is my favorite
of all the geranium cards.

I used some more of the Ohuhu colored blooms and a new to me flower pot die.

The pot was cut from a scrap of beige cardstock, colored with an Ohuhu marker
and touched up with Distress ink.

I'm loving the teeny sentiments that fit on a little tag.  Sometimes there's
not a good place for a sentiment and a little tag does the trick.

I hope you have a great weekend without any severe storms or heat.

Craft and have fun!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Market Basket Sentiments (Grtry)
Ink:   Nocturne (VC), Rusty Hinge (DI)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Pink Pirouette (ret SU), Beige (?)
Other:  Into the Blooms: Geraniums dies (PTI, Pretty Pot die (Grtry), Ohuhu Markers (R22, R23, R28, G310, G410, E46), Mini Label Tag die (SB), Linen Thread, Love to Layer: Sweet Scallop dies (PTI)

Enjoy!

Out to Sea

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My friend Bobby is hosting the current Just Us Girls Challenge and
as usual, I'm almost too late to join in.  But I think I can make it.

Here's Bobby's challenge...

Bobby's card gave me inspiration for this card.  I die cut and left the die in the
cut paper and used the die as a stencil to color it.

I wonder if it's cool at the beach?

I used blending brushes to add color to the pieces and carefully added glue to
get it mounted to another piece of cardstock.

I chose to make a sunrise scene.  Or it could be sunset.

Check out Bobby's card and the rest of the Design Team.
There's still a few hours to join in at

and sharing with  The Four Seasons August

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:   Sea Glass, Turquoise Sea (GKD), Sunbeam (SSS), (pink on brush over the yellow for orange), Spring Rain (PTI)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Pacific Point (SU)
Other:  Out to Sea die (PB), Ohuhu Alcohol Markers (B111, B114, BGY13), Linked EF (PB), Sentiment is computer generated

Enjoy!

Vintage Ornaments

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Are you ready to start another week?
They seem to fly by!

Freshly Made Sketches always stretches my creativity and this week was
no exception.  But I've go to say that I'm always glad I played along and
have a card design that I would have never come up with on my own.

This week, Jen B's sketch with the angled strip was unexpected.

the Design Team has wonderful inspiration to help.  I loved Donna's
pumpkins (as you'll see below), but wanted to be a little more original.  So I
started looking through my Christmas dies for something that would be
a good size and found these sweet little ornaments.

Inspired by the colors of Donna's pumpkins, I found some scrap pieces of cardstock
and cut the pieces.  Each ornament has coordination strips etc. to add texture
and dimension.  I added a bit of ink around the edges and touches of gold

I've done a lot of cards with the strip going horizontally or even vertically.  The
diagonal strip is a little different and I like it!

Then...

since I'm so ready for fall, I had to try to do one with pumpkins.

I stuck to yellow and orange since they are Marcia's Color Hues colors.
I wish I could say hello to fall, but we've still got some hot summer to get through.

I'll just have to spend more time crafting in the studio.

Do check out the Freshly Made Sketches challenge

and the Color Hues challenge too.

Soft Petals for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at Color Hues...

This month my dear sweet friend Marcia picked our colors.  She chose....

Aren't these wonderful colors for late summer?

I used a fairly new Penny Black stamp with Memento Toffee Crunch ink
for a no-line watercolor look and colored with Zigs and my waterbrush. The
background has a pale yellow wash.

Now let's go and see what my talented friends and our
fantastic Guest Designer Priscilla have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Yellow & Orange and add it to the gallery at

Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on August 29th.

The winners will be posted an hour before our next challenge and the overall
winner will have the opportunity to be a future Guest Designer.

Most importantly, just have fun!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Soft Petals (PB), Elegant Expressions Original (Ton)
Ink:   Encore Gold
Paper:   Neenah Natural, Mixed Media (Strathmore
Other:  Zigs, Elegant Rectangles dies (MFT), Texture EF (PB), Elegant Expressions Original die (Ton), Bright Butterflies die (SSS)

Thanksgiving Feathers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I am so ready for fall.  Unfortunately it doesn't seem like fall is
ready to show up.  But, in the studio it can be any season I want.

I had a set of feather dies in my NBUS box and added an older feather die to
make a trio of feathers.  They were cut from some mixed media paper and
smooshed in puddles of watered ink.  I'm not sure what kind of bird they would
have come from,  Maybe a turkey?  I was in the mood for fall colors and I didn't
even think about a bird until they were done.

I dipped the edges of the colored feathers in VersaMark and added gold embossing
powder and heated. The photo doesn't show the golden edges very well.

They were added on an embossed background and I added some tiny gold punched
circles into the embossing.

Challenges:
Double D - Feathers
I.D.E.A.S. - Die Week
NBUS #89 - Never Before Used Schtuff

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Thankful for Fall (PTI)
Ink:   Warm Cocoa (GKD), VersaMark
Paper:   Fine Linen (PTI), Neenah Natural, Mixed Media (Strathmore)
Other:  Distress re-inkers (Carved Pumpkin, Tea Dye, Spiced Marmalade, Vintage Photo), Jumbo Curiosity Feather die (Grtry), Feather die (HA), Feathers on the side EF (Darice), Gold EP, Linen Thread

Enjoy!

Santa's Sleigh

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My Christmas stash needs to grow faster!

The CAS Christmas challenge is helping to take care of that.  This month, Julia has asked
for Christmas cards with Santa's sleigh.

I remembered this Tim Holtz die that hasn't seen a lot of use and got that out.

The CAS Mix Up Challenge is asking for stenciling on patterned paper.  I found
this piece of patterned paper and cut the Santa and sleigh off to add this one.
First I used stencil paste to add some stars to the paper and sprinkled the wet paste
with fine glitter.

I've added some silver glitter paper for a little extra magic.

Challenges:
ABC Christmas - R is for Rectangles
CAS Christmas - Santa's Sleigh
CAS Mix Up - Stenciling over Patterned Paper

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Silver Glimmer, Christmas Watercolor (Scrapbook Customs), Black
Other:  Mini Slayering Stencil Set #31 (TH), Embossing Paste (Wendy Vecchi), Dash Away All die (TH), Special Merry Christmas die (MB), Glitter

Enjoy!

Fit for a Sketch

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Remember on Friday when I said I still had some die cut geraniums
and a big set of Ohuhu markers to try?  They went together like peas and carrots
as Forrest Gump would say!

First I arranged them in one cluster but when it came to putting them on a card,
I was stumped.  So I carefully disassembled them.  When I saw Verena's sketch
at Freshly Made Sketches, I had an AHA moment and this is what I came up with.

Here's here sketch...

My "circles" are arranged a bit differently, but hopefully you can see that sketch.

I found that using a flicking motion worked best with the markers on the Neenah.
I love the details that the dies leave on the petals and leaves.

What happened to the other blooms?  I'll share that one at a later date.
I wouldn't want you to get sick of seeing geraniums over here.

Do check with Freshly Made Sketches and enjoy the
wonderful inspiration from the Design Team and in the Gallery.
If you hurry, you can still get a card in this challenge.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sending You (Creek Bank Creations)
Ink:   Morning Mist (VC)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Pink Pirouette
Other:  Into the Blooms: Geraniums (PTI), Charming Flora Cover Die (AS), Nesting Slim Labels (FMS), Ohuhu alcohol markers (R22, R23, R28, G310, G410, E46), Caran d'ache Supracolor pencil (Dk. Carmine)

Geraniums for Fun

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's Friday again.  The weeks fly by!
This week I've been playing with the geranium dies from Papertrey Ink.

I posted this card earlier this week, but I wasn't through with it.

I had a few die cut blooms left from the previous card.  They needed a home, and
I needed a Thinking of You card.

This time I cut the blooms from colored cardstock, added a bit of sponging for
dimension and added to a pretty die cut that the same friend who gave the
geranium die also gave me.  I have the best friends!

For this card, I cut the blooms from a background made by smooshing
Brushos and water.  It's almost too concentrated so I added splatters. (I
also added splatters to my glasses too! LOL)

I still have some die cut petals and a big set of Ohuhu markers to try.
So many fun toys, so little time!

Card Recipe (card 1)
