Featuring Cary with Tissue

The Featured Stamper at SCS this week is Cary (Miss Minx).  I really enjoyed browsing her gallery and chose this card to CASE.  This is what I came up with.

The Ways to Use It challenge, also at SCS, was to use left over gift wrap on a project.  Our trash had gone out so it was slim pickins around here for leftover paper.  Then I had lunch with a friend and she brought a lovely Christmas gift wrapped in this green and white striped tissue.  And I got a Playground prize from Di that was wrapped in this gorgeous pink tissue. That got the wheels rolling in my brain.  When I saw Cary's layout, I had an Eureka moment!

The hardest part was to get the partial embossing on the card front.  For the partial embossing,  I was using some plastic templates (no name left on the package) that I had bought at Michaels a while back.  I think it took 4 tries and then I messed the only good one up by stamping the sentiment crooked. When I adhered a punched sentiment over that, it was crooked too!  #*#%@*

After 3 more tries, I got the embossing right and used a Sizzlit to cut out the flowers (the set has 3 graduated sizes of flowers and leaves).

This time I got the sentiment right.

Phew!

Pixie's Snippet Playground (that started this journey with the pretty pink tissue) will hopefully let me in with the snippets of tissue paper.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Gifts of Kindness
Paper: Whisper White, snippets of tissue paper
Ink:  Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other:  Perfect Polka  Dots EF, Plastic Embossing template (??), Birds and Blooms Sizzlit (retired), Basic Pearl

I hope the New Year is off to a good start for you.  The boys are back in school and I was able to get all my errands done.  Now to find some mojo in the craft room!

Thanks for stopping by.

Enjoy!

Beautiful card, Bonnie. That flower is a real stand-out. And I can so relate to the many attempts to get something right - but it was worth all the effort in the end!

Beautiful flower ... love the saturated pink - gorgeous! The partial embossing looks fabulous ... love how the smooth framed area really makes the flower pop and perfect for stamping too. Must give it a try! Always learning something new when I visit - love it! Loll xx

It may not be nice to say but I'm glad to hear that really good card makers sometimes have trouble. While I'm struggling, I imagine you all just flying through your designs. Sorry it wasn't that way for this card but the results are wonderful.

Good for you struggling with the embossing! I too find it very hard to do that partial embossing - in fact, I've never succeeded in doing one well enough to post it online! Your results were worth it - you've made a lovely card and the flower is fabulous!

Oh you did my heart good to read this (altho I'm sorry this one caused you such aggravation!). It made me feel in good company to know I'm not the only one who gets a sentiment crooked, etc. Even you 'experts' have an occasional boo-boo. This is a truly stunning card. I'm in awe that you did the partial embossing & it really turned out lovely. Think I have those same NBUS plastic template thing-ys. Your hot pink flower really popped the embossing too. Totally great card, delightful post, and Happy Happy. Stay warm & cozy. I hear Monday night is to be 12 here! Brrr. I'm missing So. Fla awready.
