Floating Inlaid Dies for CAS Mix Up

Good afternoon.
It's time for another
CAS Mix Up Challenge

Thank you for the wonderful response to our birthday party last month.

It was quite a party!

This month's challenge is

I've used stamping, floating inlaid die-cutting (using Catherine Pooler's technique),
heat embossing, watercolor, and splattering.

Check out the wonderful inspiration cards by our talented Design Team.
We are joined this month by our Guest Designer, Maria
who was the winner of our February challenge.

To make this card, I partially die cut the butterfly (Concord and 9th) from a piece of textured cardstock.

After pressing him into the VersaMark pad, I heat embossed him in black
(very carefully, I might add).  I repeated the process to get him totally covered in the black.

I watercolored on the smooth side of a piece of  Arches watercolor paper,
using Distress Inks, a spray bottle and an Aqua Painter.

I'll recommend you watch the video to see how to put it together as I ended
up putting it together and taking it apart several times before I got it right!

That's why the beads have globs of glue.  To do it again, I would make sure
it was put together correctly BEFORE adding the beads.

Ahh, adventures in cardmaking!

I hope you'll inlay some die cuts in some way and join us at
CAS Mix Up

There are video links over there of different Inlaid Die techniques.

The challenge is open until the 24th.

Such a beautiful design Bonnie. Love how the butterfly floats over the pretty watercoloured background. I could imagine that this takes a bit of "engineering" skills to get it together just right. Great job! xx

Such a gorgeous card, Bonnie! Your watercolored border is the perfect backdrop for your butterfly, which is truly the star of this show! I think using the floating inlaid die-cutting technique was a great idea, too! I can't wait to play along!

What an absolutely stunning card! I love the layout you used and how it's simple, but totally sophisticated and fancy-feeling at the same time. The butterfly is especially striking and I love how the black pairs so beautifully with those yummy pastels you created. This is really lovely and I'm so glad you shared your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
