Want to see what NOT to do with salt and watercolor?
I wanted to try using two kinds of salt on one piece.
I stamped and heat embossed these beautiful flowers that my dear friend, Loll
gave me for my birthday.
After adding the watercolor with lots of water, I sprinkled
Fine Himalayan Pink salt on the green and
table salt on the pink.
But I was too heavy handed.
Salt is definitely better used in moderation!
It actually took almost all the color out of the flowers
so I had to add some more back in.
Well, I hated to throw this away.
So I fussy cut the flowers out.
The die is now on my "need to get" list!
Here's the finished product...
I hope you'll join in the fun at
CAS Watercolour
There are some amazing entries in the gallery!
Challenge is open until the 24th.
And I think I can take this to the Dare to Get Dirty Challenge
at Splitcoaststampers. This challenge is for Fan Club Members.
Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.
Enjoy!

your "save" of the flowers is lovely - i had just the opposite problem on my card - the salt didn't do very much at all.
Beautiful flower stamp, Bonnie. You recovered it well to create a lovely new card. xx
Well your "oops" turned out just beautiful in the end Bonnie! Wish I could say the same for my first try today...think I'm going back to watch the videos as you can hardly tell I even used salt on mine!! But anyway, absolutely LOVE how your card turned out...just lovely!! :0)
Fabulous save Bonnie my friend! Those flowers are gorgeous and I can see why the die is on your wish-list! Have a great week! Love & Hugs. Hazel xx

Great save on the flowers Bonnie. The finished card is AMAZING! I want to get the matching die too, but it was backordered when I placed my order. :) This is definitely one of those "need the matching die" images. :) I have learned a lot of what NOT to do with salt as well. :) I guess there's a learning curve. But I do have several pieces I'm happy with. It's been fun. You chose a great challenge! xx
Great save, Bonnie! The "new" card looks terrific!
Glad you were able to save those lovely flowers. Love your card. The first one doesn't look bad either. TFS
Great save on your flowers Bonnie! they look lovely against the white! It's always so tricky when trying something new - I've ruined many a project! Julia xx
Wow Bonnie, your salty flowers look amazing! Just love the scripty black "hello" over the stems!!
Good save, Bonnie - love the card you ended up with, especially the way the flowers are tucked into the opening with the embossing folder behind. I had to laugh when I saw the first photo - what a mess!
Beautiful save, Bonnie. And great that you did not give up. My trash can has gotten full many times because I didn't come up with a creative save. And, yes, yippee for stamp and die combos.
TFS your before and after photos, Bonnie. I have used even 3 different salts on one background, but as you mentioned..in moderation. I love your saved card. The beautiful flowers have a die set too...how cool! Again, thank you for sharing my friend. Hugs.
Great save, Bonnie. But I bet it wasn't fun to cut out. Lovely card.
So glad you persevered Bonnie as you have achieved a really pretty and unique card. Artsy and wonderful x Thank you for testing out the two types of salt for us! LOL x
Bonnie, I love what you did with this beautiful image! I got such a kick out of your description too! I also love your tenacity to do something with your project when it didn't quite go as planned. Great save on this!
Oh, dear, those really are stunning flowers, aren't they? You guys are killing me, lol! I love how you saved your over-salted work of art, Bolly! (Wish we could do that with food!) Thank you for sharing what happened so we can learn. I've never done the salt thing, so I appreciate the info!! Hugs, Dolly
wonderful save, it's great to see other peoples misshapps, I wish my recovery's were as good as this :)
Well actually I would have cut around the image to make a frame, I Love the effect. Saying that your cut out is very beautiful.

WOW! But beautiful card and wonderful stamp! On the first card I love the background, the color so wonderfully grouped together to form an amazing figure. In the second card I love the beautiful watercolor staining! I love those flowers!
Love this Bonnie, I have made mine but not published yet. Didn't use enough salt and just had the grinding table salt but it'll be ok this time... Your card looks awesome to me.xx
Have a lovely weekend.♥

Gosh, what a wonderful save, Bonnie. I just love your card. Thanks for the info - I only have table salt, but will try your technique.
Great save, Bonnie, although I rather like the frosty look that the salt made on the green.
