Band of Flowers

Hi folks. Just a quick post tonight. Still haven't been able to get to my stamping stuff so here's a card that I made a while back.

I saw a picture of a flower arrangement in a magazine last spring. The vase was a beautiful painted pottery jug. These were the colors of the jug. I'm really not good at taking something like this and using it as inspiration for a card. I guess I just need to do it more often.

The card base was Yo Yo Yellow. Now I would use Daffodil Delight. I ran it through the BIG GUY with the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plate to emboss it.

The punched band is 2 3/8" x 5 1/2" and punched on each side with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. The design piece is 1 3/4" x 5 1/2". The center image is from Wings of Friendship (a hostess set from last year). The filigrees, from the Vintage Vogue set, were inked with markers.

It didn't look much like the vase. But it is clean and bright.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Wings of Friendship

Ink: Not Quite Navy, Garden Green & Summer Sun SU Markers
Paper: Yo Yo Yellow, Whisper White
Acc.: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Big Shot, Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plate

I hope you had a day as bright as this card.

Color Challenge x 2

Hello again stampin' friends. Just wanted to share the cards I did for this weeks Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers. The colors this week are Close to Cocoa, Barely Banana & Garden Green. Dessert is gem stickers & the cherry on top is to use a little bit of Soft Sky.

This first card I think I will give to the girl who is buying our house. (If everything goes through. We have our fingers crossed.) I used the little curly stamp from the Wings of Friendship stamp set. It is a level 2 hostess gift and this is the last month you can earn it. I punched a 1" circle and taped it (with painter's tape) on the card stock, inked the stamp and stamped around in a circle. I went back and cut it out and adhered it to the Banana piece I had stamped with the Sanded background stamp. The bow is from Soft Sky ribbon. (This was an In Color about 3 yrs. ago.)

The whole time I was cutting this wreath out, I was thinking about using this combination with the single tree from the Lovely As a Tree set. Sooo.......

I really like this one better.

I inked the stamp with markers, stamped and used a blender pen to "spread" the color a bit. Then I used a Banana marker to put some dandelions around the trunk of the tree. I used the single leaf to stamp a row on the inside. I inked in Garden Green and stamped off first. This card only took about 15 minutes.

Wreath Card Recipe
Stamps: Wings of Friendship, Warm Words (both to retire on June 30), Sanded
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Barely Banana, Whisper White
Ink: Garden Green, Barely Banana, Close To Cocoa
Acc.: Word Window Punch, Big Shot, Magnetic Movers & Shapers Die, Soft Sky ribbon, Flatback Pearls

Tree Card Recipe
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Teeny, Tiny Wishes
Paper: Naturals White, Soft Sky
Ink: Close to Cocoa
Acc.: Close to Cocoa, Garden Green & Barely Banana SU Markers, Blender Pen, Dimensionals

I think the color challenge is my favorite. Betty always finds a combination that I would never, ever think of. I enjoy the challenge and I also enjoy the results. I hope you enjoy them too. Pop on over to Splitcoast and give it a try. You will find the challenges near the bottom on the right of the home page.

Thanks for visiting. Hope you have inky fingers.

Dusty Wings

Hello Friends,

Today's Color Challenge is.....Creamy Caramel, Pretty in Pink & Dusty Durango. I have to admit I initially questioned the wisdom of this combination, but Betty does have a great sense of color. The stamp set on my table was Greenhouse Garden and I started out with that but realized quickly that it wasn't what I wanted. When I opened my stamp drawer, Wings of Friendship was sitting on top pretty as you please. Soooooo.....

What do you think? I knew it would be tricky to ink even with the spots, so I got out the markers. When the image wasn't as sharp as I wanted, I used the markers and a blender pen to fill it in. The picture doesn't show the Sanded stamped background. It is very subtle, but makes the card look textured. I popped the sentiment up to balance the ribbon. By the way, you can earn this stamp set by holding a $300 workshop. Let me know when you want to book one.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Wings of Friendship (Level 2 Hostess gift), Sanded
Paper: Creamy Caramel, Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Creamy Caramel, Pretty in Pink & Dusty Durango SU Markers, Creamy Caramel ink pad
Acc.: Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon, Large Oval & Scallop Oval Punches

Hope you enjoy this card my friends,

Bonnie

Curvaceous

This week's CAS challenge is to make a card with curves. I stamped the whimsey from the Wings of Friendship Hostess set overlapping a little and going up and down, then cut aroung the curves freehand. The sentiment is from a new set in the Occasions Mini Catalog (Occasions sets go on sale January 5) I stamped it in white and embossed it. This is a clear stamp and you won't believe how nice they are! The flower is the smallest daisy from the Bigz Flower Dasies 2 die with a Summer Sun Corduroy Button in the center. I thought it could use a little more yellow so I glued a strip of YoYo Yellow on the bottom.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Wings of Friendship, Well Scripted
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, YoYo Yellow
Ink: Basic Black, Whisper White
Accessories: White embossing powder, Big Shot, Flowers Daisies 2 Bigz die,
Summer Sun Corduroy Brad.
