We're celebrating our birthday this month and have prizes!
Here's one last card (for now) using acetate.
Using Stamping, Alcohol Ink, Ghosting Technique, Acetate, Die Cut
I used a technique I saw on Jennifer McGuire's blog on my alcohol inked piece.
I inked a stamp with Archival ink and stamped then wiped off the ink with a soft cloth.
It removes some ink leaving a ghosted image. I repeated the process several times.
When it came to the dragonfly, I didn't think it showed up very well so I
stamped him in black and left him stamped.
Unfortunately the ink smeared a bit (it doesn't dry very fast or at all?) so
I filled in the schmeared wing with a black Sharpie and put some
acetate over the whole thing to keep it from schmearing more.
I die cut a piece of foam behind the frame so the acetate doesn't touch the
dragonfly.
Oh, and I stamped Friend on the acetate.

Great save Bonnie with the double layer of acetate. What a wonderful technique, which looks amazing...I want to try this one now! Thank you for the wonderful inspiration and what an eye catching card with those wonderful alcohol ink colours x
BEAUTIFUL card Bonnie!! I saw that video too but didn't have any lighter colored archival ink, so I'm waiting for my order from SSS to be able to try this technique out. Thanks for all your tips...Jennifer always makes it look so easy, so I'm glad to know it takes awhile for the ink to dry on the acetate!! But anyway, great saves on the dragonfly, and he looks so perfect against that lovely green background with the fern leaves...love it!! Have a great weekend!! :0)
This is such a cool technique, Bonnie and one I'm unfamiliar with. What a wonderful effect. I too had issues getting that ink to dry on an alcohol background. Brilliant use of the acetate to keep it from smearing. Fabulous card.

The ghosting technique looks so pretty on this. I tried it the other day but mine didn't snow up well. I love the dragonfly against all that green. Very pretty.

Beautiful background for your dragonfly, Bonnie.
Perfect alcohol ink colors to show off these ghosted fern shapes. The black bug looks terrific, and no one would have known about the sharpie if you didn't tell! It looks just fine. Good to know a 'save' though. I love the stitched frame on this piece. TFS & Happy wkend. Cool here. Hugs

Your acetate panel is gorgeous in the greens/blues and the ghost stamping - Love the silhouette stamping of the dragonfly and sentiment!

I saw that video too and you did a beautiful job on this card. I like the ghosting effect and it is a great backdrop for the black dragonfly.

Very artsy look, Bonnie - the "schmeared" dragonfly looks great to me! Just love how the leaves turned out in the background!!
Beautiful colours and lovely dragonfly - I'd never have known that it smeared a bit if you hadn't said so! Nice framing too!
I tried that technique and it didn't work at all for me, Bonnie. The light lacy look of the leaves works beautifully with the silhouetted dragonfly.

What a fabulous result you got here Bonnie. Gorgeous colour combination. I'm off to an art store tomorrow to buy my first alcohol inks. It's the only craft store within coo-ee of where I live and can't wait to do so.

OOh I love this Bonnie and what gorgeous bright alcohol ink colours. I saw this over at Jennifer McGuire's blog too but haven't given it a try yet. Unfortunately I only have two colours of the inks at the moment. The black dragonfly looks great over the top though, and a great idea to put another piece of acetate in front to stop any more smudging. x
