Birthday Balloons

I love these balloons with their curly ribbons from the Crazy for Cupcakes set.

They seemed perfect for Susan's One Layer Wednesday challenge to use pinks and orange.  We could use as many shades of pink as we wanted but only one orange.

I did some masking and used Regal Rose, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango to ink and color the balloons.  The sentiment is done in Rose Red and Tangerine Tango. (I hope Rose Red is considered a pink.)

The first time I tried this, I had a smudge.  I cut off the smudge and mounted the design on a Melon Mambo card.

The sentiment on this one was stamped with Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango.

All supplies are Stampin' Up!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Crazy for Cupcakes, Happiest Birthday Wishes (hostess selection)
Ink:  Rose Red, Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, SU Marker (Rose Red, Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo)
Paper:  Whisper White, Melon Mambo
Other:  Scallop Trim Corner and Border Punches

It was so nice to see the sun today after several rainy days.  I'm hoping that the rain knocked most of the pollen down.

I'm so glad you stopped by.  I really enjoy your visits.

Enjoy!

Cupcakes for Mrs. H.

One of Luke's beloved teachers just had a birthday and we needed a special card.

It was inspired be this card by jaydekay.  It's not as pretty as hers, but it did the trick.  Jaydekay, aka Judy, was named Queen for the Day last Friday.  It was so much fun to browse her gallery.

I should have done a closeup of the cupcakes. I used Shimmer Paint tinted with re-inkers to do the icing.  It gives it a nice shimmery look like real icing.  The white icing looks pretty gray in this picture.  I'm glad it didn't look that way IRL.

All supplies Stampin' Up!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Crazy for Cupcakes, So Happy for You
Ink:  Jet Black StazOn, Cherry Cobbler, SU Markers (More Mustard, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Rose Red)
Paper: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler
Other:  Frost White Shimmer Paint, Re-inkers (Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink), Mini Brads

I'm so glad you stopped in.

Enjoy!

Crazy Birthday Balloon

I spent far too long on this card! And it's nothing extra.  But I'm going to share it with you anyway since I haven't had time to make another.

The Paper Players challenge this week is Birthdays.  If you have time, do go over there and look.  Their design team has left some awesome cards there as well as other participants in the challenge.

This layout is from the Sketch Challenge last Wednesday at SCS.  And the Technique Challenge today, also on SCS, was to use altered designer paper.  I ran this piece of DP through the Big Shot.  Hopefully that will count.

After painting the balloon with my Tangerine Tango SU Marker, I went over it with the VersaMarker and clear embossed it.  It gave it a little shine that made me happy.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Crazy for Cupcakes, Wow Flowers (Retired)
Ink:  SU Markers, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise
Paper:  Peach Parfait, Whisper White, Unknown DSP from my stash
Other: VersaMarker, Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon, Scallop Border & 1" Circle Punch, Flower Brad, Big Shot, Square Lattice & Perfect Polka Dots EF

I'm so glad you stopped by.  Do leave a comment if you have time, so I can visit you.

Enjoy!

SENTIMENTtal Journey

This week's Less is More challenge is to use the sentiment as the focus of a one layer card.  It took a couple of tries, but I finally got there.  This was my first try.

As I was adding my watermark, I thought maybe it needed a frame around the sentiment.  It just looked kind of boring.  So I took it to my table and worked on it.  Totally ruined it! Grrrh!

So I started over with a different sentiment and this is what I came up with this go round....

Now this was a lot more fun!

This card works for the CAS challenge this week on SCS which is an inspiration challenge.  Here is the inspiration picture.

Don't you just love those bright colors?

Sometimes the  journey is round about and doesn't end up where we envisioned.  But then sometimes the detours and the final destination are better than what we anticipated in the first place!  I love it when that happens!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Bring on the Cake, Crazy for Cupcakes
Ink:  Black StazOn, SU Markers (Brights & Subtles)
Paper:  Whisper White
Accessories:  Corner Rounder

Thanks for stopping in to visit and for the lovely comments you leave.

Enjoy the journey!

Birthday Balloons for Owen

Today Luke is going to a birthday party for his "buddy pal" at Preschool.  Mommy provided the present, Nana got to do a card.

My "buddy pal" Ruthann let me use her Crazy for Cupcakes set.  I can't believe I never bought this set.  It's great!  I think it will be in my next order even though she has graciously told me to use it as long as I want!

I inked the balloons and strings (don't you just love those strings?) with markers and colored the balloons in with the markers, smoothing with a blender pen.

I had 2 strings of the same color and I tried to trace one with the small nib on the red marker.  It's not perfect, but I doubt a 3 yr. old will notice.  The middle balloon is cut out and popped up.  I know, I can't believe I actually cut out that ribbon but it gave the look I wanted.

Just a simple layout to bring out the balloon colors.

It just so happens that the Free 4 All #52 challenge at SCS last Friday was to do a child's birthday card.  Isn't that perfect timing?

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Crazy for Cupcakes, Teeny, Tiny Wishes
Ink:  SU Markers (Tempting Turquoise, Brilliant Blue, Real Red)
Paper:  Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red

And guess what?  We get to escort Luke to the Birthday Party at the Fun House!  Pop and I may be babbling when we get home!

Enjoy,
Bonnie

Cupcake Time

I've been wanting to do some brighter cards.  I don't do many that are suitable for kids and I need to remedy that.  My friend Ruthann let me borrow her Crazy for Cupcakes set so I could play with it.  I think I like it and will probably have to add it to my want list!

The CAS challenge at SCS today is to use Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade & Daffodil Delight.  That fell right into my plan to do something bright.

I seem to have a problem with white space!  I want to stamp, spritz or add texture to it!  I don't want it busy, just something subtle.  I spritzed this with the markers and my color spritzer tool.  It resembles sprinkles a bit, if you use your imagination.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Crazy for Cupcakes
Ink:   Black StazOn, SU Markers (Peach Parfait, Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade)
Paper:  Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade
Accessories:  Color Spritzer Tool, Daffodil Delight grosgrain ribbon

I can see that I need to trim one side of the ribbon before it goes out.

Enjoy,
Bonnie
