Fluttering By

Hello friends.  I'm glad you stopped by.

Today's card was made with a NBUS House Mouse Stamp.
I love these sweet little mice!

I've stamped the image with Versafine ink on mixed media paper
and watercolored with Zigs.

The washed background was done using the wet on wet technique
and Distress re-inker.

I pulled out my Wink of Stella to add some shimmer to the butterfly
and added some tiny rhinestones to the trail.

Here's a close up that shows the shimmer a bit better.

ANYTHING GOES: Or

Merry Bear

Hi there.  I hope you're not buried under lots of snow
and that you're staying warm and cozy inside.  Maybe finding time in the craft room?

I've been trying to join in to the Christmas Kickstart Challenge for a couple of months.
Finally, I think I've made the deadline!
HAVE A VERY BEAR-Y CHRISTMAS

I've used this adorable MFT Bear with with a wonderful die that a dear
friend gifted me.  I have such lovely and generous friends!

I stamped the bear and colored the image with Distress Markers, using
a slightly damp waterbrush.  After he was colored and dry, I place the piece
back in the MISTI and stamped with embossing ink and clear heat embossed.

I masked the bear and used a wet on wet technique to watercolor the sky,
then masked off a section for the ice and again used the wet on wet technique
to color the ice.

Then for fun, I inked the "ice" with embossing ink and used some old
and almost forgotten Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder to make the ice sparkle.

Maybe you can see that better here...

I added some chunky white Frantage for falling snow.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Joyeux Noel for CAS Christmas

Hi.  I hope you are enjoying the weekend.

It's time for a new challenge at
CAS Christmas
where we're celebrating our 1st Birthday!
We hope you'll come and help us celebrate.

My dear friend Susan is hosting the challenge this month.

I pulled out this NBUS deer, stamped him with some
black Memento ink and colored him with Copic Markers.

I've stamped the sentiment from the same set and used
copper powder to heat emboss.

I've cut the star from both copper foil and silver glimmer paper.
He looks like he's enjoying the starlight.

I did another card while I had him out.
It's not as CAS but I like the snowy scene.

Our Design Team and our super talented Guest Designer, Chrissie,
have lots of inspiration to share with you.

I hope you'll come help us celebrate at
CAS Christmas.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Spring Flowers for CAS Watercolour

Hi there.  I'm so glad you could visit today!

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Watercolour where
our very talented Jenny has chosen this for our challenge.

I stamped my piece of vellum with a NBUS set, Even More Spring Flowers,
and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.

I taped the piece down and watercolored on the back side with
Distress Stains and a slightly barely damp brush.

After the ink dried, I went back in with a darker color on the petals to
add some depth of color.  I used the same color on the leaves, just adding
the second layer in spots.

When it was all dry, I adhered it behind a die cut frame and
popped the whole piece on some foam.

Jenny has found some tutorials for using watercolor on vellum.
They are at the challenge site.

We have two Guest Designers this month, Birgit and Ros, who
have some fabulous inspiration for you.  And as always, our Design Team
also have gorgeous designs to share.

Hope to see you at CAS Watercolour!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Stained Glass for CAS Mix Up

Hello friends.  It's time for a new challenge at CAS Mix Up.

It's a special month for us!
We're celebrating our 3rd Birthday!
with prizes!

My mixed media are Faux Stained Glass, Die Cuts, Splash Watercolor, stamping, heat embossing and dry embossing.

The very talented Joanna is hosting this month.
Here's the challenge she chose.

There are links to tutorials at the challenge site and the Design Team
along with our Guest Designer, Gundi, have some beautiful inspiration pieces
to share with you.

For my card, I die cut this lovely Bright Blossom die three times keeping all
the pieces of one die cut intact for the bottom layer.  I colored the petals of that layer
with Zigs.  Then I stacked all the layers together.

When the glue was dry, I filled each of the petal sections with Nuvo Crystal Glaze
adding a thick coat and let that dry.

The background is a piece of Splash Watercolor.  Sorry, I don't
remember what I used for the color on that.

I did one using black too.

Now it's your turn.  I wonder if you can stop at one?

Hope to see you in the gallery at CAS Mix Up.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!
